"Qiuchan, Qiuchan," Xu Bingqing cried out in terror. It was the first ti she had ever "enjoyed" such treatnt.
Li Qiuchan trembled, her expression utterly grim. In the next mont, the sharp crack of a slap echoed through the air. Xu Bingqing began to wail as if her parents had just died, her cries filled with utter despair.
Shen Fanyun’s expression remained placid throughout the ordeal. Lu Feiyan, on the other hand, was at a loss for words. Xu Bingqing had brought this upon herself. She was arrogant, condescending, and always looked down on others. Since she loved stirring up trouble, her current predicant was entirely her own doing.
"Bitch, the next ti you decide to cause a scene, try to rember where you are," Qin Yue sneered. "I, Qin Yue, have a good temper, so I’ll give you one chance. But if there is a next ti, your life is over!"
As an old-school figure in the city, Qin Yue was no re riffraff. How could Xu Bingqing possibly have the nerve to provoke soone like him?
"Did you hear clearly?" Qin Yue demanded.
Sobbing, Xu Bingqing covered her face and nodded imdiately, tears streaming through her fingers. "I... I understand. It won’t happen again."
"Get lost," Qin Yue said, a corner of his mouth twitching into a smirk. Not daring to delay, Xu Bingqing scrambled back to Li Qiuchan’s side.
Li Qiuchan was seething with rage, yet she could only watch helplessly as her supposed best friend was punished in front of everyone.
"Mr. Wang, are you satisfied?" Qin Yue asked, turning to Wang Tuohai.
Wang Tuohai gave a noncommittal hum, his gaze still fixed on Li Qiuchan.
"What’s this girl’s background?" Wang Tuohai asked.
Qin Yue leaned in and whispered into Wang Tuohai’s ear, detailing Li Qiuchan’s origins and her current close relationship with the Han Family.
"Han Long?" Wang Tuohai nodded. "I’ve heard of him. However, how could a man like that fall for such trash? Does the Han Family want a daughter-in-law like her? Aren’t they afraid of becoming a laughingstock? From what I see, this girl has no admirable qualities. She can’t tell right from wrong and just bullies people by flaunting her connections. A disgrace to the family!"
Wang Tuohai clasped his hands behind his back, evaluating Li Qiuchan so harshly right to her face. His words were like sharp thorns stabbing deep into her heart. In an instant, her complexion paled and flushed in turns.
Han Long himself didn’t particularly like her; she was well aware of this. That’s why she had always been so ek within the Han Family, a minor presence treading on eggshells. She had focused all her efforts on securing Han Feng, thinking her situation would improve once she had officially married into the wealthy family... This was her deepest insecurity, an untouchable boundary! And tonight, a man had just pointed it out so brazenly. How... how utterly humiliating!
Li Qiuchan clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white. This was a trendous humiliation, a vicious trampling of her dignity and her very being.
Wang Tuohai snickered. "What, you have a problem with ? Let tell you sothing. Even Han Long wouldn’t dare look at with that kind of gaze. You, an ignorant little girl, are simply ridiculous. What exactly are you so arrogant about?"
Li Qiuchan furrowed her brow. Who in the world is this man with Shen Fanyun? Even my future father-in-law wouldn’t dare to offend him? This is the first ti in Hangcheng City I’ve t soone who holds my future father-in-law in such contempt. Is he drunk? Has his mind beco so muddled that he’s just spouting nonsense?
"Alright, let’s not waste any more ti on insignificant people," Wang Tuohai said, his disdain for Li Qiuchan palpable.
After a long silence, Li Qiuchan gritted her teeth and asked, "May I know your na, sir?"
Wang Tuohai turned back abruptly. "Hmm?" Does this little girl really think she’s soone important? Is she planning to seek revenge soday?
"Ha, hahaha." Wang Tuohai let out a helpless chuckle and shook his head. "If I weren’t in a good mood today, you ignorant little girl, I’d have slapped you twice."
He didn’t bother introducing himself, because Li Qiuchan wasn’t worthy. With that, he took the lead and walked into the hotel. Shen Fanyun held Lu Feiyan’s hand and followed him.
Qin Yue gave Li Qiuchan one last, deep look, shook his head, and said with an expression rich with aning, "A frog in a well, ignorant of the vastness of the heavens." Li Qiuchan was left utterly speechless.
"The humiliation of today... Soday, I, Li Qiuchan..."
Xu Bingqing suddenly sighed and whispered, "Qiuchan, let’s go back. We can’t afford to provoke soone like that."
"Hmm?" Li Qiuchan was confused. She also secretly resented Xu Bingqing for not being upfront sooner. It had left her vulnerable and allowed this group to humiliate her so severely.
"That... that man is nad Wang Tuohai," Xu Bingqing mumbled, her eyes downcast. "He’s the president of the Jinhai Record Company."
"Jinhai Records?" Of course, Li Qiuchan knew about Jinhai Records. She was aware of their status in the country, their influence, and their fa. Wang Tuohai, Wang Tuohai... He’s Wang Tuohai?
In that instant, a tremor shot through Li Qiuchan’s heart, followed by a profound sense of powerlessness that washed over her entire body. She opened her mouth as if to speak, but she forced the words back down.
This is a titan from the Capital City, a figure of imnse national renown... And I, Li Qiuchan, an insignificant young girl, actually dared to argue with Wang Tuohai? No wonder he was so disdainful, not even bothering to give the ti of day! I... I...
Li Qiuchan was in a daze. She realized she truly was a frog in a well, so full of herself yet utterly ignorant of her own insignificance. Pitiful, pathetic, and tragic.
"I’m sorry for causing you so much trouble tonight," Xu Bingqing said, a rare mont of clarity prompting her to apologize.
Li Qiuchan picked up her handbag and walked ahead without a word.
Xu Bingqing trailed behind, apologizing profusely. "I’m really, really sorry. I thought everything would be fine once you arrived. I never expected them to disrespect you so much, especially Qin Yue. Hmph! Doesn’t he want to make a living in this city anymore?"
"Xu Bingqing!" Li Qiuchan stopped dead in her tracks and whirled around. "My mind is a ss right now. Please, just shut up!"
In truth, at this mont, Li Qiuchan didn’t care about the night’s incident. What she couldn’t accept was being utterly humiliated in front of the one man she had once looked down upon the most—the man she believed she was destined to lord over for the rest of her life.
Shen Fanyun had witnessed everything: her embarrassnt, her loss of dignity.
He must be incredibly happy right now, right? I, Li Qiuchan, finally gave him, Shen Fanyun, the chance to openly and legitimately win one back against ! I told you I would never respect you in this lifeti, not even if... even if you...
Li Qiuchan was finally certain. Shen Fanyun hadn’t co back because of so lingering obsession. He had co back for revenge.
"Shen Fanyun!"
