A good breakfast couldn’t counteract the ntal drain of two major classes.

When the bell rang, the professor had just left the room, and Ye Li, along with her classmates, swiftly packed up and surged out.

Beyond the classroom building, the crowd dispersed, heading towards their respective destination restaurants.

The student cafeterias at Imperial University were famously excellent nationwide, offering low prices and a wide variety of food. The cafeteria workers looked upon the students coming for als as if they were their own lively, lovable children, piling their plates high like little mountains.

Ye Li had only eaten there twice before keeping her distance.

The food was genuinely delicious, but it was also genuinely too much, leaving her with a guilty conscience each ti she cleared her tray, ashad of both wasting food and the heartfelt efforts of the cafeteria workers.

No matter how much she insisted she couldn’t eat it all, the enthusiastic cafeteria workers still piled her plate like a mountain.

After that, Ye Li opted for the Sixth Restaurant instead.

The Sixth Restaurant specialized in stir-fry, a bit pricier but with much smaller portions, and prided itself on quality.

eting an acquaintance now and then would equate to sharing a big al.

Nowadays, Ye Li no longer hoped to run into anyone familiar. She was content if she could eat her al in peace.

However, Ye Li thought this way, others did not.

"Didn’t the Ye family go bankrupt? And she still cos here to eat? She really has so nerve..."

"There’s no helping it. Life can downgrade in an instant, but not consumption habits. If you’re used to eating Western als and steaks every day, suddenly switching to gnawing on cabbage leaves, could you endure it?"

"I really admire people like her who remain unaffected and calm amidst insults. If my family owed a billion, I’d probably go cool off on the rooftop. Yet here she is, unabashedly indulging in luxury; I’m impressed!"

...

These were all people who had shared a table or greeted each other before.

A group of n and won looked at her with comprehensive disdain, as if her consuming here while in huge debt was a most unforgivable act.

Between turning around to leave or continuing her al, Ye Li chose the latter, composedly ordered her al, and carried her tray to a more distant table.

The murmur of discussions was incessant, but Ye Li pretended not to hear.

After a while, an exclamation erupted, "Oh my god, look at this!"

A girl raised her phone, and instantly, everyone stopped eating and pulled out their phones to look.

"No wonder, she’s latching onto a sugar daddy, tsk tsk tsk..."

"Isn’t it said that we live in a society that judges by appearances? In families like ours, owing a few hundred thousand or a million feels like the sky is falling. Yet, she owes a billion and still spends lavishly."

"I hadn’t seen her around the dormitory area recently. I thought she was too ashad to show her face and had moved out, but turns out she moved to Fanxing Apartnt. Having a backer really makes a difference..."

"Lucky her dad died. If he knew his own daughter had done such things, the coffin lid wouldn’t hold him down!"

"Ha ha ha ha ha..."

Slap!

Ye Li slamd her chopsticks down on the table.

Calling her a gold digger, she could tolerate.

But speaking about her dad, that was intolerable to anyone!

Several were engrossed in their phones, and when they looked up, they saw Ye Li approaching with a darkened expression.

Thinking of the backer behind Ye Li, they looked at each other, not daring to speak further.

Ready to leave without finishing their al.

"Ye Li, if you’ve done it, don’t be afraid of people talking!"

"Exactly... if you’re upright, you don’t fear your shadow being crooked. You’re not feeling guilty, are you?"

"Being classmates with soone like you truly feels like a curse!"

They didn’t forget to throw a few more barbs at Ye Li before they hurried off.

With sharp eyes, she saw one of their phone screens, recognized the familiar page, and then pulled out her phone.
