Knock.
Knock knock!
"Ye Li? Ye Li?"
Her ears caught her own na, that urgent and clear voice, didn’t sound like sothing Ah Piao could produce.
Ye Li threw off her covers and sat up, "Who is it?"
"It’s Lu Xiaoxiao from room 620."
Lu Xiaoxiao.
At noon, the entire floor was deserted, and Ye Li was the only one cleaning the dormitory, coming and going alone.
Later, a girl with a round face from the room opposite couldn’t stand by any longer and ca out to help her clean up for a while.
She rembered her saying her na was Lu Xiaoxiao, from the foreign languages departnt.
Ye Li also recalled how she seed about to say sothing several tis but ultimately said nothing, just silently bowed her head and worked.
Ye Li responded, "Wait for a second..."
Scrambling into her down jacket, Ye Li clambered out of bed and opened the door.
Seeing Lu Xiaoxiao, Ye Li’s eyes instantly welled up with tears that nearly burst forth, "What’s wrong?"
"Did you, hear any strange noises?"
Lu Xiaoxiao’s words made Ye Li’s complexion visibly shift.
She thought those sounds were either the wind, or the shrinking of steel bars inside the cold cent walls, or so weird echo from the drain pipes.
After all, years of watching "Approaching Science" weren’t in vain.
Besides, she had lived in this building for over two years; if there really were ghosts, wouldn’t she know?
But, seeing Lu Xiaoxiao’s deanor, could it be that there really was sothing wrong with this dorm?
"Since five years ago, room 619 has been rumored to be haunted; you must have heard about it when you enrolled. Whoever gets assigned to 619 either takes a leave due to an accident or gets expelled for so incident, so that room has been empty for several years."
Ye Li had heard all this before, but it was usually just a topic of passing conversation.
After all, the neighboring room 617 and the room across 620 regularly produce several graduate students recomnded for further study at our school every year.
Over ti, no one really believed room 619 was unlucky anymore.
"Last Friday, a girl jumped off a building!"
Lu Xiaoxiao said with a face full of lingering fear, pointing at the spot above the washroom behind Ye Li, "Right there."
!!!
Last... Last Friday?
Ye Li stiffened up, not even daring to look back.
Lu Xiaoxiao sighed, "I don’t believe in any ghost stuff, but it just so happens to be you alone... Ye Li, do you want to squeeze in with for the night?"
"Yes!!!"
Ye Li nodded decisively.
She didn’t even grab the quilt from her bed; she just shut the door and followed Lu Xiaoxiao to the room across.
It was 12 o’clock, and the other three girls in Lu Xiaoxiao’s dorm hadn’t gone to sleep yet.
Seeing Ye Li, none of them greeted her, but one of them muttered quietly: "Lu Xiaoxiao, you’re the only one who cares about ddling!"
After speaking, the girl snapped off the bedside lamp, turned over, and started scrolling on her phone with her back to the wall.
Ye Li was stuck, not knowing whether to move forward or retreat, just freezing at the door.
Then she saw Lu Xiaoxiao shake her head at her, indicating it was okay, and nudged her up into the bed.
The curtains were drawn, suddenly creating a private little space.
Ye Li whispered, "You don’t seem to get along well with them, do you?"
Lu Xiaoxiao nodded, "If it weren’t for a lack of money, I’d have moved out long ago, I wouldn’t be cramd here with them."
Ye Li blinked, "I think you’re pretty nice, why don’t they like you?"
Lu Xiaoxiao smiled, "If you were not as pretty as them, but you had better grades, and their crush, the campus hunk, was actually your boyfriend, if you were them, would you like ?"
???
Ye Li’s eyes widened in astonishnt.
Overwheld by the revelations, she didn’t even know where to start.
