As she stepped out of the building, the warmth disappeared instantly.
Ye Li gazed blankly at the streetlight above her head before she ca back to her senses.
That mont just then equated to breaking off relations with those three ladies; she couldn’t stay in the dormitory for the night.
But where should she go now?
Return to Lishan Mansion?
Earlier, when Fu Yanci had told her to co back, she had refused, fearing it would be too awkward to stay in the sa room with him.
If she were to turnaround and go back now, knowing his personality, he’d definitely realize she had had a falling-out with her roommates.
The bar incident was a major issue, and since it was sothing Zhou Hecchen had set up, he wouldn’t bla her even if he found out.
But this recent episode, it was just like kids playing house and getting petulant, demanding the other to spit out the candy they’d eaten.
So childish!
Ye Li scratched her head in frustration, turned around, and sat down on a bench, flipping through her contact list.
Either she could ask Chu Chu to pick her up and stay at her place for the night.
Or see if any close senior classmates could take her in for the night.
Before Ye Li could decide between Chu Chu and a senior, her phone pinged softly.
It was a WeChat ssage from Fu Yanci, "What are you doing?"
Checking the ti, it was just past 11 PM.
He was probably about to sleep and just wanted to ask if the wounds on her hands and knees were still hurting and to say goodnight.
Holding her phone, Ye Li replied, "Getting ready to sleep."
Whoosh.
One minute.
Two minutes.
When the expected "Goodnight" still hadn’t co, Ye Li couldn’t help but frown slightly.
The crunching sound of stepping on snow arose, and Ye Li instinctively looked up.
Her gaze fixated, and she slowly stood up.
A few steps away, Fu Yanci approached, carrying a bag.
He was still wearing the sa black coat he had on during their evening eting, looking as if he had co directly here without even changing.
"Getting ready... to sleep?"
As he spoke, Fu Yanci walked up to Ye Li.
He glanced at the bench she had been sitting on, then turned to look at the brightly lit dorm room on the fifth floor, a hint of amusent in his eyes, "So, you plan to sleep here tonight?"
"Of course not."
Caught in a lie, Ye Li said sowhat sheepishly, "I said I was getting ready to sleep, not that I was going to sleep now. I... I plan to just clear my head before going back to sleep."
Clear her head.
His gaze landed on the girl’s face and nose tip, which were reddened from the cold. Fu Yanci stepped closer and placed the bag on the bench.
Then, he took off his coat and wrapped it around her just like before, "What’s wrong? Did you have a fallout with the girls in the dorm?"
"Not at all!"
She firmly denied, touching her nose guiltily, "It’s just... I overheard them talking about my family’s bankruptcy. I was afraid it would be awkward if we ran into each other, so I ca out to hide for a bit."
After speaking, Ye Li raised her eyes to ask Fu Yanci, "What brings you here? Is sothing wrong?"
"I asked around, and there’s no dicine box in the student dorm, only in the school infirmary."
For the second ti that night, he poked through Ye Li’s small lie but pretended not to notice the embarrassnt and unease in the girl’s eyes. Fu Yanci calmly said, "So, I brought the dicine box over, Mrs. Fu."
In the cold winter day, the term "Mrs. Fu," along with the dicine box in the nearby bag, gave Ye Li the feeling of sitting in front of a clay stove, holding a bowl of steaming soup in her hands.
Warm and very caring.
"Let’s go..."
Picking up the bag, Fu Yanci reached out to take Ye Li’s hand, "Since you don’t want to sleep in the dorm, let’s go ho. I’ll bring you back in the morning."
She wanted to say there was no need, that she would go back in a bit.
She also wanted to say that it would be too early and too much trouble for him in the morning, so forget it.
Ye Li opened her mouth, but all her words receded when Fu Yanci took her hand.
His palm was warm, as if being near him was like being close to a source of heat.
Ye Li curled her fingertips.
Her hand was held even tighter.
In the snowy night, two figures gradually moved away.
In the room on the fifth floor, Jiang Chengcheng lay stiffly on her bed, staring intensely at the dark ceiling above her as if it were Ye Li’s face.
The thought of having to pay Ye Li over a hundred thousand made Jiang Chengcheng’s scalp tingle.
After a long while, Jiang Chengcheng picked up her phone and sent a ssage out.
