The silver-gray suit was still impeccably pressed, but the wearer’s defeated deanor made it appear particularly disheveled.

The tie was gone too.

The white shirt underneath had two buttons undone, hanging loose and ssy.

Framing Chen Jiayuan’s gloomy expression, he looked as though he had been utterly crushed by a massive blow—radiating despair from head to toe.

Then he saw the Rolls-Royce slowly driving up in the distance and stopping at the building entrance. When he noticed Luo Changchuan in the driver’s seat, Chen Jiayuan’s face darkened even further.

"Wan Mingyi, we need to talk!"

Forcing himself to stay steady and ignoring Luo Changchuan’s glance in his direction, Chen Jiayuan walked to the passenger-side door and said.

Wan Mingyi felt utterly helpless.

She figured she and Chen Jiayuan had made things crystal clear; there was nothing left to entangle anymore.

She had even made it clear to her best friend, stating explicitly that there was no possibility between herself and Chen Jiayuan.

But even so, Chen Jiayuan had sohow obtained her new address and had co to wait downstairs at her building.

Looks like she needed to not only move again but also reevaluate her definition of friendship. Her "best friend" should—no, must—stand unconditionally on her side, covering for her even if she wanted to cheat or have an affair.

If that’s not the case, then she’s no best friend—rely just a "friend."

At this rate, even this friend needed to go!

"You should head back now, drive carefully on your way."

Turning back toward Luo Changchuan, Wan Mingyi said as she opened the car door and stepped out.

The Rolls-Royce slowly reversed.

"I always believed that we’ve said everything crystal clear between us. I have nothing left to say. Since you insist there’s sothing you need to express, go ahead. But I hope this will be the last ti. Please don’t co looking for anymore in the future!"

Wan Mingyi walked up to Chen Jiayuan, her gaze frank as she spoke. "Say it."

"You did it on purpose, didn’t you?"

Chen Jiayuan’s eyes burned red. "Wan Mingyi, you did this on purpose! You never loved , did you? You were only with because of your interest in jewelry design, and I happened to major in it—soone useful to you, wasn’t that it?"

Wan Mingyi froze.

Chen Jiayuan pressed on. "Your so-called selfless dedication was nothing more than an excuse for stealing my skills. ’Teach the apprentice, starve the master’—three years were long enough for you to learn everything from , wasn’t it?"

"Wan Mingyi, you never loved ! All of your passion, all your struggles—it was all for yourself. I trusted you wholeheartedly, and what did you do? You let drown in your tenderness and ticulous care, only for to end up with nothing in the end. Wan Mingyi, I am where I am today—all thanks to you!!!"

Wan Mingyi’s jaw dropped in shock.

For the first ti, she realized soone could distort the truth to this extent!

Truly, all her efforts had not only been wasted but thrown to the dogs!

Seeing Wan Mingyi remain silent, assuming he had struck a nerve, Chen Jiayuan’s emotions grew even more volatile.

The gala had already started, and the venue was vacant now, yet Chen Jiayuan remained seated there.

His mind was haunted by the scores given by the ten judges.

Jyang Wanruo’s initial score was unknown, but even calculating based on the lowest scores from the remaining nine judges, his average was only slightly behind Ye Li’s.

Had it not been for the misleading comnts, had he not stepped forward to report Ye Li, he would have firmly secured second place—the sa silver award as last year.

Even more so, if Ye Li had not been there, he would have claid the gold award this year.

Everything had gone exactly as he anticipated.

Yet, all of it—all because of Wan Mingyi!

Because he’d used her inspiration to design that "Lovesickness" set. Because he’d helped start Shiny with several other people while excluding her—she was behind this entire revenge plot.

Though he didn’t know when Wan Mingyi and Ye Li had started associating, Ye Li’s Studio was established only after the Bishui Bay exhibition.

Not to ntion, Wan Mingyi, who originally didn’t even et the qualifications to compete, suddenly had a portfolio and recomndation letters from notable figures.

If it weren’t for Wan Mingyi, there wouldn’t be Ye Li—much less Ye Li’s Studio.

How else could he have t his downfall today?

All of it—all because of Wan Mingyi!!!

"All because of you!"

Chen Jiayuan glared at Wan Mingyi with venomous hatred. "I didn’t hold anything back when teaching you, and you repay by stabbing in the back like this? Wan Mingyi, does Luo Changchuan know what kind of vile woman you really are? Calling him your husband—do you dare tear off your façade and let him see your true face?"

Roaring, Chen Jiayuan reached out to grab her shoulders.

Bang!

Though the night was silent, a deafening sound resonated in both of their ears.

The blinding high beams pierced through the darkness, precisely focusing on Wan Mingyi and making Chen Jiayuan freeze mid-motion before he could touch her.

Bang!

The car door slamd shut, and the handso man, clad in a black shirt and suit trousers, strolled over slowly.

Only then did Wan Mingyi realize—the Rolls-Royce had parked under a nearby tree.

Luo Changchuan hadn’t left.

In the silent night, the conversation between the two had carried all too clearly on the breeze into the car window.

Every word of Chen Jiayuan’s tirade had been heard in full.

With utter disdain in his gaze, certain of his authority preventing Chen Jiayuan from daring to hurt Wan Mingyi further, Luo Changchuan advanced unhurriedly until he stood before the pair.

Draping the suit jacket he carried over Wan Mingyi’s shoulders, Luo Changchuan cast a scornful glance at Chen Jiayuan before eting Wan Mingyi’s gaze with a look of helplessness. "Baby, as n, it’s tragic to have to share the sa species as soone like him. I’m sorry!"

???

It took Wan Mingyi a mont to process that Luo Changchuan was insulting Chen Jiayuan, declaring him unworthy of being called human.

Beside them, Chen Jiayuan’s expression turned even uglier.

"Mr. Luo, esteed designer Luo..."

Chen Jiayuan stiffened his neck, pointing at Wan Mingyi as he stamred. "Do you know this woman’s true face? She’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants! She spent three years in my bed, acting as my free housekeeper and assistant all to steal my craft—"

Bang!

No one even saw when Luo Changchuan raised his arm; the next instant, searing pain overwheld Chen Jiayuan as his head snapped to the side, the force tossing him like a sandbag.

Half his face burned with hot pain, his teeth threatening to fall loose in his mouth.

Blood filled his mouth, tallic and bitter.

"F*ck! You son of—"

Furious, Chen Jiayuan scrambled to his feet, letting loose a curse as he lunged forward.

Bang!

Bang, bang!

Wan Mingyi had worried about Luo Changchuan being hurt amidst a violent scuffle.

Her fingers were halfway through dialing 110 when she saw the anticipated fight turn into an overwhelming one-sided beatdown. Slowly, she set the phone down again.

After a clean over-the-shoulder throw, Chen Jiayuan crumpled like a shrimp and didn’t get up again.

Luo Changchuan’s breathing hadn’t even quickened. "Being born human, you owe this world an apology!"

Turning to leave, Luo Changchuan suddenly spun back to glare at Chen Jiayuan. "Don’t ever bother her again, and don’t let find out you’ve said vile words or done disgusting deeds. Otherwise, you—and Shiny—will both pay the price!"

Wrapping an arm around Wan Mingyi’s shoulders, he guided her back to the car, seating her in the passenger side.

The car roared to life and sped off.

Under the pitch-black sky, Chen Jiayuan felt as though he was staring directly at his own shattered future and bleak destiny.
