When they stepped out of the winery, the sky was already dark.

Glancing at his phone, Lue Xizhou’s face turned even darker.

He rembered clearly: he ca to the Imperial City on the eighth to find Uncle Fu and the others, and then headed to the winery.

He hadn’t done anything, just had a few drinks.

Open his eyes, close his eyes—two days had passed?

Lue Xizhou: ...

When he turned around, he saw Cheng Yanhuai staring at him with a look that said, "Dude, are you okay or not?"

Lue Xizhou waved his hand repeatedly, "I’m fine, really fine... That phone of yours has been ringing all night. If you don’t pick up, it’s going to explode!"

Pointing to the buzzing pocket in Cheng Yanhuai’s pants, Lue Xizhou turned and gave Cheng Yanhuai a quick hug.

He shivered dramatically, seemingly revolted, shaking off the goosebumps that popped up on his skin. "Brother, this kindness—I’ll rember it!"

As he patted his pockets, trying to recall where he had put it, a shadow flashed before his eyes.

Lue Xizhou instinctively reached out and caught the car key Cheng Yanhuai tossed toward him.

"Plenty more fish in the sea, right? No need to say any more!"

Escorting Lue Xizhou all the way to the parking lot, Cheng Yanhuai slapped him hard on the back. "Anyway, if anything cos up, go find Uncle Fu. Feeling down? Co to , and the drinks will flow! When you’re in good spirits, the girls will be plenty too!"

Normally, Lue Xizhou would beam with delight and respond with an enthusiastic "Alright!"

But at this mont, it felt as though sothing was stuck in his throat, and he couldn’t make a sound.

He nodded slightly, turned around, waved his hand, and opened the car door to get in.

The black Ferrari shot into the night like an arrow.

The pitch-dark night seed to be torn apart by the blinding headlights, as an SUV roared past, thumping rhythmically into the distance.

Only a scattered ss of notes remained behind.

Lue Xizhou drove intermittently.

His mind issued a clear command: drive back to the hotel, turn everything off, sleep until the world spins, and wake up as if nothing happened.

There’s no problem a good drink can’t solve.

If one drink isn’t enough, then two.

Just like the past two days when he drank himself into oblivion—waking up didn’t hurt as much as the day he received that invitation.

Go back, sleep, wake up, and things will be okay.

All those miserable, unsatisfying, regretful... ridiculous emotions haunting him would just turn the page, wouldn’t they?

But why did his chest feel stifled, like he couldn’t catch his breath?

Pulling over by the roadside, the night wind rushed through the car window, ssing up his hair.

His face felt icy cold.

Yet, Lue Xizhou felt like there was a fire burning in his chest.

The flas danced high, as if they were about to erupt into black smoke and vanish into thin air the very next mont.

And yet—the wood wasn’t enough, the fire wasn’t burning strong enough.

Just one breath short!

Tempted to go for another round of drinking, he opened his contact list but didn’t feel like calling anyone.

As he started the car, he suddenly heard the roar of an engine slicing through the night air. Lue Xizhou froze and turned to look toward the brightly lit spot not far away.

It was already late, but under the city’s neon glow, the massive "Freely" sign stood out clearly.

It looked sketchy, like a bar.

But with one glance, Lue Xizhou knew—it had to be a racetrack.

There was no other possibility.

Taking a deep breath, Lue Xizhou started his engine and drove straight toward Freely.

The front desk was empty.

But the door was wide open, as if they weren’t afraid of thieves.

The backrooms were empty, too.

Then he rembered it was Valentine’s Day, and Lue Xizhou went straight to the racetrack.

Vroom!

Vroom vroom!

In the gigantic racetrack, a black Ferrari raced like lightning, circle after circle, seemingly tireless.

Even just watching it, Lue Xizhou felt like the fire in his heart was burning hotter.

Inside the Ferrari’s driver’s seat, Qin Chu’s face was already drenched.

It was hard to tell whether it was sweat or tears—her hair at the temples stuck damply to her cheeks.

Every exhalation caused the helt visor to fog up, a blur of white mist.

Before the mist even cleared, another layer ford.

She glanced down, and the speedoter showed her speed had hit 180.

Every ti the speed exceeded 200, one thought flashed through Qin Chu’s mind:

Let go.

Let go of the wheel, and everything would be over!

But her hands, barely loosening, imdiately tightened their grip on the steering wheel.

She couldn’t do it!

This was her beloved car, and this racetrack was a gift from Lizi and Uncle Fu.

And there were so many racers in the track.

If sothing happened to her, the racetrack would have to shut down.

With their achievents and skills, the drivers could find another track or club and start flying free elsewhere.

But her?

If she left like this, then what had all her countless days and nights of training been for?

Qin Chu, would you even be able to face yourself?

But—she was so tired!

One voice stirred her up.

One voice dragged her down.

The two voices tangled together like a knot, leaving Qin Chu clueless about what to do.

Before she could sort out her thoughts, the roar of an aggressive throttle sounded from behind her.

Through the rearview mirror—it was as though soone had copy-pasted her car. Another black Ferrari was chasing her closely, speeding up visibly.

She didn’t have the ti to wonder who it might be.

Or why they’d show up here now, at her place.

She only had one thought: Co on!

Qin Chu stomped on the accelerator and charged forward.

Brightly lit, the racetrack saw two identical Ferraris—sa model, sa color—chasing each other relentlessly.

Every ti they hit a curve, the car behind would drift ahead.

But at the next turn, the lead car would overtake again.

After a few laps, the car in front started slowing down bit by bit.

In the driver’s seat of the trailing car, Lue Xizhou was just about to roll down his window and yell, "You think you’ve got the guts to keep going?!"

When suddenly, the front car’s window rolled down, and the driver in a white racing suit stuck a hand out—flipping him the bird.

???

He’d seen people picking fights, but not ones this brazen about it!

If I don’t deal with you today, I’ll call you dad!

Lue Xizhou slamd the accelerator and charged forward.

The expected crash didn’t happen.

The engine roared once more, and the Ferrari ahead smoothly exited through the slowly opening racetrack gates.

After hesitating only for a mont, Lue Xizhou followed suit.

From the south side of the city to the suburbs, and all the way to the foot of the winding mountain road.

Before Lue Xizhou could react, the taillights of the car ahead blinked twice.

He didn’t know what it ant.

He guessed blindly—it seed to be asking: What do you say? Dare to race or not?

Race it is! Who’s afraid of whom!

Boom!

Lue Xizhou turned on his high beams, aiming them aggressively at the left side mirror of the car ahead.

For a fleeting mont, Qin Chu wanted to give up.

What kind of childish idiot was driving behind her?

But since she was already here, she might as well—let it be one final glorious race before it all ends!

Taking a deep breath, Qin Chu leisurely steered her car to the left side of the road, giving the outer lane—which made overtaking easier—to the car behind her.

When the car slowly approached, both cars stopped side-by-side.

Qin Chu turned her head and froze.

Lue Xizhou was equally stunned.

"You?"

"You?"

The two of them spoke in unison through the windows of their respective cars.
