The man’s palm was hot, pressing firmly against her lower back, holding her tight in his embrace.
As he spoke, she could even feel his lips sliding over her own.
His eyes held an unfathomable depth of black she couldn’t understand.
Ye Li’s eyes twinkled slightly, "Fu Yanci, have you ever tried to climb through a girl’s window?"
His grasp loosened a little, and Fu Yanci leaned in closer, kissing the girl’s soft, sweet lips, "I planned it, but it was unsuccessful."
Ye Li’s eyes shone even brighter.
Everyone in Imperial City knew that Fu Yanci was cold and unemotional, disinterested in won.
So even secretly speculated whether his interests lay elsewhere.
Every ti she saw Fu Yanci at Zhou Mansion, glimpsing the tall figure and long-legged silhouette of the man, then going ho to look at her treasured comics, Ye Li would wrestle with herself.
Should she see herself as the domineering and fierce protagonist,
Or the delicate and soft one, easy to push over?
But such thoughts would scare her off as soon as they bubbled up in her mind upon seeing Fu Yanci’s cold face and the chilly aura that surrounded him.
At the sa ti, she had to chant "Sorry for the disrespect, Uncle Fu" a few tis to herself as an apology.
Ye Li never imagined that the aloof and distanced Fu Yanci would ever harbor thoughts of scaling a girl’s wall?
"Fu Yanci, was that girl pretty?"
As soon as she spoke, she felt it was wrong. Ye Li shook her head, "No! If even soone like Uncle Fu lost his reason and thought about climbing walls, she must be super pretty!"
Completely forgetting that she was in his arms, Ye Li relished the gossip.
Climbing all over him, poking his face, and shaking his shoulders to urge him on, "Fu Yanci, co on, tell , why didn’t it happen? Were you discovered by the girl’s parents? What happened after?"
She could never have dread that one day she would be the subject of such gossip.
And she was the one gobbling it up.
Seeing the excited, starry-eyed Ye Li, Fu Yanci couldn’t help but laugh, "Ah Li, you don’t care at all?"
"Why would I care?"
Ye Li looked innocent, "You said it was unsuccessful, didn’t you? Besides, you are mine now, what more do I have to care about? Co on, Fu Yanci, what were you thinking at the ti? Why did you give up, how did it beco unsuccessful?"
Although Fu Yanci was considered a business prodigy, Ye Li believed that such people usually think quickly and act even faster.
Whatever he wanted to do must be thoroughly planned.
On a grander scale, if he wanted soone who displeased him to vanishing off the face of Earth without a sound, it was probably no difficult feat.
Let alone sothing as simple as climbing through a window.
Feeling like hundreds of cat claws were scratching at her heart, Ye Li shook Fu Yanci’s arm in disarray.
"Fu Yanci, husband... Yanci, brother, please tell , you just..."
Before she could finish, Fu Yanci flipped her beneath him.
His breath filled the space between their teeth, his kiss more fierce than ever before.
As if punishing her curiosity.
Ye Li was left breathless by his kiss, and only then did Fu Yanci let her go, "Impulse is the devil. I didn’t dare confess my feelings during the day, yet, impulsively, I appeared before her at night. What does that prove, if not that I am a coward?"
"Can I kiss her and hold her like I do now? What if... what if it scares her?"
"Ah Li, love is about taking, but it’s also about restraint. I’ve always understood that!"
His eyes were earnest.
Ye Li was stunned.
The word "unsuccessful," explained by him, suddenly took on a quiet depth of repressed affection.
As if having eaten wine-soaked rice balls followed by a gulp of chilled lemon water, Ye Li forced herself to ignore the unclear emotions in her heart, and softly asked, "Fu Yanci, what about after? Did you ever confess your feelings formally?"
