Deliberately, Fu Yanci pushed down the tiles in front of Ye Li and looked around, "The stakes have doubled, give the money, everyone!"
???
A heavenly win?
Cheng Yanhuai’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
He’d been playing for so many years and had only co across a heavenly win a handful of tis.
And now, he had encountered it today.
And it was Ye Li, who had just sat down at the table.
"Hey, I simply don’t believe this!"
Cheng Yanhuai rolled up his sleeves, "Let’s go again!"
In the second round, Lue Xizhou discarded an eight of bamboo, and Ye Li won.
In the third round, Ye Li won by drawing her own tile.
Everyone at the table was speechless in amazent.
Behind Ye Li, Tan Ningyan laughed, her eyes sparkling, "She looks like an innocent little white rabbit, but who would’ve thought she’s a mahjong expert! Xiao Li, this contrast between your looks and skills is so cute, you’re killing with cuteness!"
Ye Li laughed shyly.
As a child, she was the kids’ leader, playing gas with the other children.
As she grew up, whenever guests ca over and people needed to leave the mahjong table to use the restroom or answer the phone, she would step in to play.
Over ti, she had honed her skills.
As the mahjong tiles were set up again, Ye Li stood up to let Fu Yanci back into the ga, "You guys play, I’ll go hang out with Sister Yan!"
"No more playing!"
His gaze swept over Ye Li’s dark-rimd eyes, knowing that she hadn’t slept well all week, Fu Yanci spoke firmly, "It’s late, we should head back!"
Having said that, Fu Yanci promptly took Ye Li’s down jacket from the coat rack and helped her put it on.
"Brother, you can’t be like this... The last ti sister-in-law didn’t co, it was fine that you wanted to go ho at 11 o’clock. But today, sister-in-law is here, and you’re in such a rush to go ho early..."
Before he could finish his teasing, a glance at Ye Li made Cheng Yanhuai instantly understand, "Forget what I said, have a safe trip you two!"
Initially, Ye Li didn’t make much of it, but after Cheng Yanhuai’s roundabout comnt, she belatedly realized what he was hinting at and her face flushed red.
"Miss Ah Li, please check your wedding gifts later!"
"Xiao Li, the gift from Lanting and is in your car."
Facing the smiling faces of Lue Xizhou and the others, Ye Li nodded her head, then turned and buried herself into the arms of Fu Yanci, who was putting on his coat.
Laughter rose from behind her, but Ye Li dared not look back, letting Fu Yanci embrace her and leave the room.
As the car pulled out of the parking lot, the heat on her face gradually faded.
But when she saw the night sky outside the window, Ye Li’s just-relaxed mood tensed up again.
Fu Yanci had said that he wouldn’t pressure her.
But Sister Yan had ntioned that in the past five years, no woman had appeared beside Fu Yanci.
It was fine if he was preserving his chastity for Xiao Bao’s mother.
Or if he simply chose to live a chaste life.
The abstinence from before had been real.
And she, as the freshly minted Mrs. Fu, felt that there were certain duties she ought to fulfill; otherwise, the Boss might beco unhappy, and it was always the workers who would suffer.
Thinking this, Ye Li suddenly felt that the night wasn’t so scary after all.
Just like Chu Chu said, she and Fu Yanci were legally married—what was there to fear?
Right, there’s nothing to fear.
With her ntal preparations done, Ye Li opened the wardrobe and chose a light, gauzy nightgown.
Even so, after bathing and changing into the nightgown, Ye Li still felt an uncontrollable shiver looking at her reflection in the mirror: her hair down and cheeks flushed.
Fu Yanci realized sothing was off as soon as he got into bed.
The girl of the past, even if she was by his side, would turn her back to him, afraid to et his gaze, afraid he would speak to her.
But today, she was lying flat on the bed, her body under the covers as stiff as a fish.
Knowing what she was afraid of, Fu Yanci breathed a deep sigh within his heart.
With a long arm, he pulled her into his embrace. The words "sleep well" were about to escape Fu Yanci’s lips when suddenly his breath hitched.
