Chapter 72: Chapter 70
Chapter 72: Chapter 70
Xue Dong and his group had gone to catch shrimp. When the Patrol Team returned, they imdiately took most of the shrimp to sell at the base, leaving only a few parts to be sold at the Farr’s Market at the transfer station. Their shops had also opened, selling various agricultural products, including fish, shrimp, and other aquatic products. In another shop, they were considering opening a restaurant that would sell stewed at and the like.
Sun Wenwen and Yang Zhengfei were still at the base, learning how to make roast ats and stews. Qin Jianzhong had returned ho because of a frost disaster last ti and hadn’t gone out, planning to go learn during the winter when things were quieter.
The Patrol Team ca, and today it was Zhou Xiao.
“Xue Dong, I ca to collect so things.”
“You ca, help with so work and I’ll treat you to so shrimp later.”
“That would be great, I’ve been waiting to co over and mooch a al.”
Zhou Xiao took the tools and helped Xue Dong fish out the shrimp, picking out the small ones to throw back to grow bigger, selecting the larger ones to sell which could fetch a good price.
They packed the large ones in plastic bags and transported them in big iron boxes; they wouldn’t die in the short-term storage space provided they added an oxygen pump and a portable power source.
Though they said it was alti, Zhou Xiao didn’t actually have ti to sit down and eat with them. The al was prepared by Gu Ye, and he packed food for the Patrol Team in two large food boxes, including braised fish, tomato shrimp, and other delicious dishes, along with stead buns and mung bean soup, enough to fill them up with so left over.
Taking the food boxes, Zhou Xiao packed fish, shrimp, vegetables, and other supplies, waved goodbye, and left.
The shop had opened, but currently, it was manned by mbers of the Patrol Team; they needed to choose soone soon to look after the shop properly.
“Brother, who should we pick to mind the shop?”
“Let Zhang Qi do it, he’s at least middle-level. It’s alright to switch for soone else during the busy farming season. We don’t need him at ho all day now, and besides, Xie Ling and you are there.”
Xue Dong thought about it—the spring plowing was important, requiring constant attention from a Wood Power User. Other tis didn’t really need that much oversight. Currently, there were two other Wood Power Users at ho, so they could rotate.
Zhang Qi, who had awakened an offensive vine as a companion spirit plant, was well enough equipped for self-defense; he didn’t have to worry about soone causing trouble while buying things, especially with the Patrol Team and urban managent around.
“Okay, Qi, go to the shop tomorrow, try selling so of our agricultural products. Close the shop in the afternoon and co back. I’ll let you use the electric tricycle, rember to charge it at ho in the evening.”
“Then I’ll go.”
Zhang Qi agreed without hesitation.
The next day, Zhang Qi drove the tricycle loaded with goods to open the shop. Li Pan also followed to deliver the goods, so everything could be done in one trip without having to run back and forth several tis, which would waste ti.
This was Li Pan’s second visit to the Farr’s Market; last ti he ca to check the location of the shop before it had officially opened.
The shop had already been open for a while now, and it was unexpectedly bustling with people at the Farr’s Market. Conversations needed to be louder, or else you couldn’t hear them.
The Farr’s Market mainly handled wholesale, but the retail prices were not expensive either, and there were quite a few custors.
They opened the shop’s doors, settled the live fish and shrimp with an oxygen pump, and Li Pan helped arrange the other vegetables, including grains, and prices were clearly displayed on the door.
“Co, fresh fish and shrimp, especially supplied by No. 8 Farm, co quickly if you need any, just caught this morning.”
“How much?”
“Look, there’s a price list. It’s priced per pound. Auntie, take a pound, this fish is as good as at at a fair price.”
“Give a pound of shrimp and a fish, a big one. Does your place sell fresh pork?”
“Absolutely fresh, just butchered this morning. Feel the at; it’s still warm.”
Zhang Qi was sweet-tongued and alert. He quickly attracted custors.
The QR code ringtone signaled paynts coming in, and Li Pan helped pack the goods. It didn’t take long for all the shrimp to sell out; she had thought that because they were pricier, fewer people would buy them, yet they were snatched up in an instant.
Only the smaller fish were left, about five or six, and the fresh pork was sold out, leaving only the bones. The chickens and ducks, freshly slaughtered, were all sold out as well.
The two looked at each other, and Zhang Qi asked, “Sis, why don’t you go fetch so more goods to sell? It isn’t that busy at ho, let the brothers handle it while you stay with , manage the store, and handle the money. I’m a bit overwheld by the crowd.”
“Then I’ll go back and ask, and you keep an eye on the shop in the anti.”
“Bring so of our hogrown vegetables and tomatoes, we can use the freezer at ho.”
“Okay.”
Vegetables last longer with a refrigerated cabinet.
Li Pan took the tricycle back to the farm to load up goods.
Upon arriving ho, she sought out Xue Dong, “Brother, the fish and shrimp are all sold out, and there were lots of people. Do you think we should bring more? Qi asked to co back and bring so goods. The soy sauce and sorghum wine are also gone; we barely had any left since yesterday. He asked to bring back a huge barrel of each.”
“Wow, so many people buying, those shrimp weren’t cheap.”
Xue Dong was also surprised; everything had sold out in just two hours.
“There were so many people, and our goods are fresh and not overly priced. Our place isn’t the most expensive, and I saw a lot of buyers, mostly from the rich district. Additionally, the wholesalers co in the morning, and so asked about wholesale.”
“Leave the wholesale to . I need to ask Big Brother first. These people used to wholesale through him, and if we agree on our own, we’d be cutting into his territory. He relies on these profits to exchange for the food that feeds a whole city.”
“I didn’t agree to anything; I said I’d co back and ask you. So, you handle it.”
“Let’s go, I’ll move the soy sauce vats for you and bring another vat for the bean paste, and move the sesa paste and a few large jars of grain wine.”
Nowadays, people prefer to buy in bulk because it’s cheaper. The shops collect money for bottled items, and though there are pre-packaged bottles in the stores, those are expensive and not affordable for most people.
“Brother, we’re a bit short on bottles for the wine and soy sauce. I wrote sothing and attached a picture for Patrol Team Leader Zhou to send him a letter to bring them back for . Rember to pay him.”
“Sure.”
After loading up quite a number of items, along with so added fish and shrimp, Li Pan also packed so cooked als and hurried back to the Farr’s Market.
Upon arrival, she and Zhang Qi began unloading the goods. As soon as they were ready, shoppers crowded around, noting how fresh the items looked, ho-raised, and people began to weigh and bid.
The two were so busy they couldn’t stop for food until around 12:15 PM, when the crowd finally dwindled and most items were sold, leaving only a bit at the bottom.
“Let’s eat now; I brought so food.”
Li Pan quickly took out the food and stove to heat it up—an iron stove used for camping that used charcoal.
Gu Ye had made stewed beef, which they heated over the fire and ate huddled near the fla.
“Here, I brought plum soup.”
“This is tasty.”
“This year we kept our own dicinal materials—black plum, hawthorn slices, dried tangerine peel, licorice. Last year, we couldn’t even drink it ourselves; it had to be sold off.”
“Last year, you and my brother toughed it out running a farm with just two or three people, so rough for you. We all ca later; the family wasn’t struggling anymore by then. Sis, I really admire you. You’re amazing; not many girls like you, young and daring to start a farm from scratch, and managing it so well. Grandpa says you’re our role model.”
Zhang Qi finished off the last bit of her al, her days of abundant living no longer giving way to waste as she even dipped her bread in the soup to eat it.
