Shi Yang responded, stood up, and looked at Zhao ii standing at the bedroom door with a ’scorned woman’ expression. He couldn’t help but break into a smile.

Seeing Shi Yang rise from the sofa, Zhao ii turned and went back into the room first.

Shi Yang followed her in, and as soon as he entered, Zhao ii flung herself at him in an embrace, prompting him to quickly close the door behind them.

With her arms around his waist, Zhao ii whispered her grievance: "Brother, you’re being too much. If I hadn’t called you, were you planning not to see tonight?"

Shi Yang reached out to rub her head: "How could that be? I already planned it — when you go to the bathroom before sleeping, I’d co out and pounce on you."

Zhao ii’s face flushed red, and she murmured with a frown: "Liar, you fall asleep and never wake up at night. Still waiting to pounce on , you must be kidding!"

Shi Yang’s chest shook with laughter: "It’s not as exaggerated as you say. Lying in the sa bed as your dad, I can’t sleep for a while either."

Zhao ii buried her face in Shi Yang’s chest, murmuring and acting spoiled: "I missed you so much... You’re leaving soon after coming back, I can’t bear it."

Shi Yang chuckled deeply and pulled her out of his embrace.

Zhao ii hugged Shi Yang’s waist, looking up at his handso face. She moved her lips to him, couldn’t resist kissing his slightly moving Adam’s apple, then quickly sucked on it. The mont they kissed felt electric; Shi Yang shook, his mind a swirl of confusion, spreading his arms around Zhao ii, and kissed her on the lips.

Eyes wide open, Zhao ii gazed at Shi Yang up close, even seeing his fluttering eyelashes.

Shi Yang breathed heavily, opening his eyes to look at Zhao ii. His gaze, a dark whirlpool, seed ready to swallow Zhao ii whole. Suddenly, Shi Yang flipped open Zhao ii’s clothes, bent down, and buried his face against her chest, clamping down.

The unbelievable sensation nearly made Zhao ii scream; she bit her lip hard and held the sound in her throat. That breathless feeling made Zhao ii feel like she was about to ignite.

Shi Yang lifted his head, his rough breathing sounding deep and alluring. He hugged Zhao ii tightly, their chests pressed together, his hands gripping her wrists to stop her from moving.

Shi Yang held Zhao ii still for almost two minutes, until their breathing cald and the flush in his gaze and the heat in his body slowly faded. Then, he released her, bending down to kiss her forehead.

Zhao ii dissatisfiedly nibbled Shi Yang’s chin but was pulled away and sat at the desk by Shi Yang. He kissed her face, softly coaxing: "No, ii, your mom might co in at any mont."

At the ntion of her mom, Zhao ii’s dizzy mind imdiately cleared up, pouting in displeasure: "I wish you wouldn’t leave; I don’t want you to go."

Shi Yang couldn’t help but pull her into an embrace, kissing her forehead and face.

The next morning, Shi Yang sent Zhao ii to her class, then drove straight to the hotel to find Zhao Wendada.

Before heading to the provincial capital, Shi Yang specifically called Qu Chaozong and Wang Tianyu, notifying them of his arrival ti and arranging a gathering in the evening, doubling as a welco for Zhao Wendada.

Shi Yang drove Zhao Wendada to Qu Chaozong’s rented community; the apartnt below was up for rent and Qu Chaozong took it. They lived floors apart, conveniently commuting to the store together.

Zhao Wendada’s exterior seed rough, but inside he was particularly ticulous, a very adept person at living.

After circling his rented place, he dragged Shi Yang for a shopping spree at the mall in the afternoon. The variety was extensive, from wallpaper to bedding sets, tablecloths to small decorations.

Shi Yang drove him back, running several trips between floors to get everything upstairs.

In the evening, Qu Chaozong booked a private room at the hot pot city downtown. The four of them gathered, rolled up their sleeves, and dipped lamb.

Zhao Wendada looked big and dark, sitting next to Shi Yang, which only emphasized his ordinariness. Upon first sighting Zhao, both Wang Tianyu and Qu Chaozong greeted him with smiling faces while thinking, ’Oh gosh, is he really involved in baby products? Isn’t that nonsense!’

However, once Zhao Wendada spoke, within a few comnts, Wang Tianyu and Qu Chaozong turned admiring gazes toward Shi Yang. It was no wonder Shi Yang was the boss and they followed orders; his discernnt and knack for identifying talent were beyond their reach.

Qu Chaozong, naturally sociable, took the initiative to fill Zhao Wendada’s glass, clinking cups and downing it straight, asking: "Wendada, I heard you worked abroad before. Where are you originally from?"

Zhao Wendada grinned: "I was born in Inner Mongolia. During high school, my parents died in a car accident, so I went overseas to study with distant relatives. Finished university and worked a few years, and when my relative passed away, I thought of returning to the country to have a look. Just when I was looking for a job, I t Mr. Shi."

Qu Chaozong, pouring liquor, turned to throw a glance at Shi Yang: ’This guy’s lucky, just ca back and you got him on your team!’

Shi Yang smiled confidently, squinting slightly, his face betraying a cunning grin.

Zhao Wendada had a knack of first wiping the rim with a napkin before drinking, a habit that made Shi Yang think about wiping the skewer of lamb kebabs clean. Though unrelated, Shi Yang wiped off the charcoal dust on the skewers, but Zhao Wendada wiped his own saliva from the glass rim. Was he repulsed by himself?

Besides this quirky habit, Zhao Wendada was otherwise normal, especially when drinking — being particularly straightforward and ensuring the glass was empty.

At the dinner, after three rounds of drinks, Zhao Wendada began speaking more, eagerly detailing his plan for the mother-baby store and its implentation steps to Shi Yang.

Shi Yang hadn’t drunk much, staying clear-minded and agile in thoughts, listening to Zhao’s insights, nodding in agreent, more certain he had hired the right person.

Through the al, Zhao Wendada chatted endlessly, without visible signs of intoxication in his dark complexion. When asking for another drink, no one opposed him, assuming his capacity was large.

Yet, upon finishing and leaving the table, everyone stood and started heading out of the room, Shi Yang leading with Qu Chaozong and Wang Tianyu following. Before they made it to the door, a muffled thud was heard behind.

Looking back, there he was — Zhao had crawled under the table; completely drunk.
