Chapter 978: Chapter 978: Burrow Escape Maze
Due to Qin Sisi’s hasty attacks each ti, her accuracy wasn’t too high, allowing the flying Lightning Birds in the sky to often evade the Dingze Thunder strikes.
Qin Sisi, braving danger, had cast Dingze Thunder several tis and finally managed to bring down a Lightning Bird after much difficulty.
What she didn’t expect was that the injured Lightning Bird, having fallen to the ground and unable to move its body, still refused to admit defeat and was searching for opportunities to spit golden lightning at Qin Sisi.
Fortunately, Qin Sisi dodged quickly, avoiding being struck by the golden lightning. However, the place where the lightning struck was very close to the patch of ground where she was hiding.
After being injured, the Lightning Bird’s strength weakened and the golden lightning it spewed beca much less powerful. Still, when the lightning struck, it kicked up a cloud of dust and an energy wave spread out in all directions.
The mud where Qin Sisi was hiding was close to the struck area and was also impacted by the energy wave. An explosion of spiritual power laden energy wave hit her face-on, making her internal organs feel like they were being severely squeezed, almost choking her with discomfort.
Thankfully, the soil absorbed much of the lightning’s energy. Monts later, the energy wave gradually dissipated, and Qin Sisi took a long ti to catch her breath and recover.
During the previous practice in the Thunder Magic Course, Teacher Wuting only required them to bring down the Cloud Piercing Cranes, not to kill them, so at first, she thought that if these Lightning Birds stopped attacking her, she could spare their lives.
But now it seed impossible. The only course of action was to kill with no rcy.
Qin Sisi held her breath and concentrated, suddenly bursting out of the ground to release her Dingze Thunder magic skill at the Lightning Bird that had fallen to the ground and could no longer move.
For an immobile target, her aim was still very good.
Dingze Thunder struck directly on the Lightning Bird, which didn’t even have ti to make a sound before being burned into a piece of charred black by the lightning’s power.
Having dealt with this Lightning Bird, Qin Sisi imdiately burrowed back into the soil to look for opportunities to deal with the remaining few Lightning Birds.
She knew the following process would be even harder, but with one success already, she was very confident in her ultimate victory.
Qin Sisi kept releasing Dingze Thunder, and Lightning Birds kept spitting out lightning, as the thunderous rumbling sounds intertwined and echoed across the grassland, both on land and in the air.
Despite there being only a few combatants, the once tranquil grassland had turned into a terrifying battlefield.
If any other life had strayed into it at this ti, they would have undoubtedly been struck into smithereens.
Qin Sisi didn’t know how much ti had passed or how many tis she had released Dingze Thunder; in the middle of it, she took a First-level Rejuvenation Pill she had concocted herself to restore her Magic Power.
When she was once again exhausted, the last Lightning Bird was finally struck down by her.
She pursued her victory, releasing one more Dingze Thunder at the already immobile target to end the battle.
The badge on her wrist signaled she had half an hour of rest ti.
Looking at the grassland that had turned into chaos, Qin Sisi found a piece of grassland that was still relatively intact and lay down weakly.
After resting for a few minutes, she suddenly opened her eyes and quickly stood up, heading towards the corpses of the five Lightning Birds.
The assessnt was over, and the rewards should have been given out by now!
Considering the vast grassland, it wouldn’t be possible for her to wander aimlessly; the most likely place for rewards was at the corpses of the five Lightning Birds.
Qin Sisi searched through the charred bodies of five Lightning birds and indeed found another Spirit Revitalizing Pill, a high-quality Level 3 one at that.
After consuming the pill, her magic power swiftly recovered to 80 percent, which reassured her greatly, so she continued to lie on the grass to rest.
When the prompt caused her to open her eyes, she noticed there were no changes in her surroundings, which she found quite strange.
In the previous examinations, each one would end with a change of scene, but why didn’t it change this ti?
Qin Sisi was sowhat confused as she prepared to stand, but as soon as she raised her head she "bang" hit into sothing very hard.
She grimaced, covering her forehead with her hands, her eyes filled with slow confusion. There was clearly nothing above her head but a clear sky; what had she hit?
She reached out slowly with her hand and sure enough, about half a ter above the ground, she felt a hard wall; it was transparent, invisible to the eye, but could be felt.
Qin Sisi felt sowhat depressed. What was this all about? Were they not allowing people to get up now? Did they want her to win by lying down?
But the black badge on her wrist soon gave her the answer—it was impossible to win by lying down. If the ground above was off-limits, then the only option was to burrow into the soil.
So, this part of the magic examination was centered around the Earth Magic skill -- Earth Escape.
The black badge provided a very complicated route that she had to morize in one minute, and then she was to start her Burrow Escape journey.
First, burrow south for one thousand ters, then burrow east for five hundred ters, follow with ten clockwise spins, then ten counterclockwise spins, and finally proceed westward in a zigzag pattern. Twelve zigzags later, she would reach her destination where she could then erge.
The ground of the examination area had been enchanted; prior to completing the exam task, she could not poke her head out, as if there were a layer of hard steel on the surface of the ground.
Qin Sisi went over the entire route several tis in her head before setting off.
The Burrow Escape practice during class was also extrely exhausting, but the routes were relatively simple, plus they often practiced at Tiantu Mountain, where they were familiar with the environnt.
Moreover, during class, the route was counted by laps, and one was allowed to burrow out of the ground to rest after each lap, but now continuous completion without breaks was necessary.
But now she was in a completely unfamiliar place with no shortcuts or tricks, and she had to rely solely on the experience accumulated in class and her own intuition.
Qin Sisi gathered the Earth Attribute Magic Power on her skin, allowing herself to move smoothly through the soil.
The extre hardships she went through don’t need to be elaborately stated; in the end, only two words remained in her mind—persevere.
Being in the earth for a long ti, breathing was difficult, and she began to feel oxygen-deprived.
Even though activating the Magic Source greatly enhanced bodily functions, including the ability to hold one’s breath for a longer period, it only extended the ti slightly, and no one could hold their breath indefinitely.
Just when Qin Sisi felt that her body had reached its limit, she finally completed the route.
She prayed silently in her heart while trying to burrow her head out of the ground.
Her movents were slow, fearing a repeat of the head-bumping incident.
To her delight, her head burrowed out of the ground with ease, and her vision suddenly brightened as the lush, green grassland reappeared before her.
She reached out her hand upwards and felt no resistance, indicating that the enchantnts had been completely lifted.
