Chapter 841: Chapter 841 Floral Butterfly Dance
If one wanted to achieve better performance effects, they had to blend the power of magic with the music to cause extraordinary things that normally wouldn’t happen.
The students who had not yet activated their Music Attribute were making a racket, with thunderous drumming, "dong qiang dong qiang dong dong qiang" mingling together in a completely disordered fashion, creating a ss of sounds without any semblance of musicality.
Yi Rou’s frown grew tighter and her complexion darker as she wished she could block her ears.
Standing behind her, Chen Song was also at a loss whether to cry or laugh. Even though his Magic Source had been destroyed, he had once conducted extensive research on Music Magic, and such a sense of perception did not vanish with the disappearance of his Magic Source.
Listening to the chaotic drumming of these children, Yi Rou couldn’t help but lant the decline of Music Magic and placed greater hopes on the four students who had already activated their Music Attribute.
Qin Sisi, Wen Xuan, Li Li, and Qing Pu were indeed very hardworking. Each of them had morized the score of "Floral Butterfly Dance" to the point of perfection and began to practice it over and over again.
Qin Sisi’s zither sounded like flowing water, Wen Xuan’s flute like the light dance of willow branches, Li Li played the reed pipe with a smooth and llow sound, and Qing Pu’s chi stones chid crisply and pleasantly.
Overall, the performance of the four was not bad.
Oddly, despite their nurous practices, none had been able to attract butterflies.
Qin Sisi looked up and around, noticing a few small birds in the treetops but not a single butterfly.
Probably still not skilled enough!
Thinking so, Qin Sisi picked up her Half Moon zither and continued practicing "Floral Butterfly Dance," and the others did the sa, practicing tirelessly in the absence of butterflies.
The sun gradually slanted westward, and soon it was afternoon.
While none from Qin Sisi’s group managed to attract butterflies, the other five neither could make the nearby snake fall asleep with their drumming.
One hour earlier, Yi Rou had already begun to feel desperate and simply went back to her room to rest, lest she beco anxious and irritated from watching them.
Chen Song, concerned about leaving the new students alone, decided to stay and watch over them.
After another round of performances, Qing Pu looked up again and, seeing no trace of butterflies, he let out a sigh of frustration and whispered to his nearby classmates, "Hey, do you think Teacher Yi Rou is playing a trick on us?"
Hearing Qing Pu’s words, Wen Xuan’s expression darkened, and he replied loudly, "Which forr instructor ever played tricks on us? How could the teachers at Heaven Academy be joking about lessons?"
Only then did Qing Pu rember that both Wen Xuan and Yi Rou ca from the ilan Family, and he awkwardly responded, "I didn’t an anything by it, but it’s been nearly a day without any progress."
Wen Xuan was quite displeased with Qing Pu’s skepticism about his Aunt Yi Rou’s teaching thods and said sternly, "Quantitative changes cause qualitative changes. If no butterflies have been attracted, it’s simply because our abilities are not sufficient. We just need to continue practicing."
As the eldest son of the Zhulu family and its leader, Qing Pu was quite proud and did not take kindly to Wen Xuan’s tone, responding sarcastically, "Right, my Music Magic was never very good, I barely activated it, so it’s normal not to attract butterflies. However, I heard that Master Wen Xuan has a deep understanding of Music Magic. Why can’t you attract butterflies either?"
Wen Xuan’s face turned pale, and he replied through clenched teeth, "Of course, it’s because my ability is not enough."
Qing Pu snorted with laughter and said, "It seems the rumors are not to be trusted after all!"
Between the lines, they were all mocking Wen Xuan for being from the ilan Family and yet failing to master his intrinsic attributes.
Wen Xuan’s face turned red and then white. In terms of magic level, he was an interdiate magic instructor, which couldn’t compare to Qing Pu, a senior magic instructor.
When it ca to music magic, which was Wen Xuan’s intrinsic attribute, he should have been a cut above the rest, but so far, no one had made any progress in their practice, and naturally, Wen Xuan’s advantage was not apparent.
Qing Pu’s words had sowhat affected Wen Xuan’s ntality.
He lowered his head, ignored Qing Pu, and placed the wooden flute to his lips to resu playing.
To those unfamiliar with musical intonation, the difference might not be noticeable, but Qin Sisi quickly realized that Wen Xuan’s flute notes were sowhat frantic. It was hard enough to attract butterflies with a calm state of mind, but now that his ntality was affected, such playing was even less likely to et Teacher Yi Rou’s standards.
At this mont, the sowhat discordant drumming from the five other students nearby reached them, and Qin Sisi suddenly thought of a problem.
"Stop for a mont, Wen Xuan," she said. "Do you think we might be interfering with one another by practicing separately like this?"
Wen Xuan stopped playing and, after pondering for a mont, replied, "Possibly."
Each person’s musical notes were different, and they practiced at different speeds. Given that they were not far apart, soone listening from a distance might not even be able to recognize the piece as Floral Butterfly Dance.
Qin Sisi suggested, "Let’s try playing together as an ensemble to see if we can coordinate with each other and whether it will make any difference."
Li Li and Qing Pu, in fact, had already been practicing in agitation and frustration. Qin Sisi’s suggestion seed to make so sense, so in their exasperation, they were willing to give it a try.
So, the Half Moon zither, wooden flute, bamboo reed pipe, and chi bells began to produce the lody of Floral Butterfly Dance together.
Though their first attempt at ensemble play was not very proficient and they didn’t coordinate well in so parts, by the end of the piece, all four felt that the ensemble practice was far more effective than practicing alone.
Since this was the case, the four reached a consensus. With a shared goal in mind, they began practicing the ensemble piece over and over again.
It took about ten or more attempts before they could play together in relative unison.
After finishing another round of ensemble playing, Qin Sisi suddenly said, "It seems like there is a scent of flowers in the air."
Her remark energized the other three, who hurriedly sniffed for confirmation and indeed detected a faint floral fragrance.
This discovery thrilled them. They wiped the sweat from their foreheads and continued practicing the ensemble.
After a few more rounds of ensemble playing, they finally saw a yellow butterfly fluttering towards them, filling their hearts with joy and their eyes with light. But no one dared to relax; they kept coordinating with each other, playing the piece of Floral Butterfly Dance.
The yellow butterfly fluttered above the four transparent covers without lids, flying back and forth without settling on any of them.
They all looked up, the eight eyes intently following the beautiful yellow butterfly, their tension mounting as they hoped it would land on their own cover.
But the yellow butterfly seed to be deliberately tantalizing them, circling twice above one cover, then twice above another, refusing to settle its wings.
In such circumstances, the music played by Wen Xuan, Li Li, and Qing Pu progressively revealed a tinge of impatience.
