Chapter 776: Chapter 776: Blue Blood Ice Fish_1
Qin Sisi crouched by the river and dipped her hand into the water. Her fingers beca numb almost instantly from the cold.
Startled, she quickly pulled her hand out, blew so warm breaths onto it, and furiously rubbed her fingers to restore her sense of touch.
As Qin Sisi stared at the crystal-clear river, her facial expression beca increasingly serious. The water was extrely cold, which explained the low temperature in this area. Where exactly were they and how did they end up here?
Kong Jiu watched her pacing nervously and urged her from behind, "Hey, beautiful sister, have you thought of a way out yet? I have elderly parents and a young wife to look for. I don’t want to die here."
"Shut up!" Qin Sisi imdiately rebuked him and stared at Kong Jiu with a stern face.
Kong Jiu’s face changed and he quickly backed off, covering his shoulders in fear. "What do you want to do? I warn you, don’t get any ideas. I prefer those who are full and fair-skinned; I have no interest in bean sprouts like you."
Qin Sisi grinded her teeth in frustration. She advanced two steps towards him, her eyes alert, "What kind of person are you?"
Kong Jiu blinked and replied, "I’m a student from the Earth Academy of the Heavenly Magic God’s Castle."
"Why would a student from the Earth Academy appear in the Heaven Academy?" Qin Sisi stared at his eyes, her gaze intense. Ever since Kong Jiu appeared, all events had beco strange and spiraled out of control, causing Qin Sisi to doubt him.
Kong Jiu answered righteously, "I was on a mission for a teacher from the Earth Academy to deliver a ssage to a teacher from the Heaven Academy."
"To which teacher?" Qin Sisi pressed on relentlessly.
"To Teacher Di Sa."
"And where’s the ssage?"
"I’ve already delivered it," Kong Jiu answered, his big innocent eyes wide open, and his hands spread out helplessly.
Qin Sisi stopped questioning Kong Jiu, who appeared nonchalant and indifferent. There was no point in pressing him further.
"Do you know where we are now?" Qin Sisi softened her tone, attempting to seek cooperation.
She was deeply puzzled. Kong Jiu appeared very suspicious. If he wanted to harm her, pushing her off the cliff directly would have been simpler. Why did he jump off with her?
Still, they were now in the sa boat. Qin Sisi hoped to have a partner to figure out a way out.
Unfortunately, Kong Jiu shook his head in response, "I don’t know. I’m familiar with the Earth Academy but not the Heaven Academy."
Qin Sisi had no choice but to abandon any hope of finding answers through Kong Jiu. She surveyed all directions and pointed to where the river was flowing, "There is obviously no path in other directions. We can only follow the river. I don’t care who you are, I hope from now on we can help each other and deal with everything else once we are out."
Kong Jiu agreed eagerly, ’"Sure, sure, sure, I love mutual help, especially with beauties."
Qin Sisi rolled her eyes at him, too lazy to argue, and took the lead in heading upstream.
Kong Jiu followed Qin Sisi, his eyes amused as he stared at the back of her head.
The channel looked very dark from afar, but as they approached, the silvery light reflected off the icy stalactites on both sides of the river, illuminating the nearby area and revealing vague shapes.
The river, the icy stalactites, and the silvery light ford the main elents of this underground cave.
The cave was winding with no visible end or a way out. It was as if the river could stretch out to an extrely distant place.
It was dead silent in the cave, with only the sounds of Qin Sisi’s and Kong Jiu’s footsteps echoing.
Suddenly, a crisp splash sounded beside them. Qin Sisi imdiately turned her head to see a strange little fish falling into the water.
The little fish had a peculiar appearance. It seed transparent with irregular blue stripes on its body.
From behind her, Kong Jiu said, "Ah, after walking for so long, I’m hungry. Beautiful sister, do you have any food?"
"No." Qin Sisi answered faintly, her eyes subconsciously sweeping across Kong Jiu’s hand.
Qin Sisi noticed his clean fingers; he didn’t have a storage ring.
Kong Jiu took a step forward, standing shoulder to shoulder with Qin Sisi. He leaned over to look at the fish bounding in the water and smacked his lips. "The taste of this fish must be delicious."
Qin Sisi sighed, "But the water is too cold. It’s impossible to catch them."
She was irritated since she, too, was hungry.
After practicing in the trial tower for five hours, dealing with the man in black and eting Kong Jiu, and falling into this mysterious underground cave. After all the effort, she felt like she was running out of energy.
Glancing at Qin Sisi, Kong Jiu suddenly declared. "Watch ; I’m good at catching fish."
As he spoke, Kong Jiu rolled up his sleeves, knelt on one leg by the river, spread his arms and shaped his hands like a claw, ready to catch a fish.
Qin Sisi looked at him, a bit amused. She was skeptical that Kong Jiu could catch a fish.
After waiting for quite so ti, a small fish finally leaped out of the water for air.
Kong Jiu’s gaze sharpened, his arm swayed, and before Qin Sisi could catch a clear look, he jumped away from the riverside yelling, "Wow...it’s so cold, so cold!"
A few seconds later, Kong Jiu couldn’t tolerate the frigid fish anymore and threw it to the ground. He blew on his hands incessantly. Only then did Qin Sisi notice that a thick layer of frost had ford on his palms.
"Well done." Qin Sisi sincerely praised him. Although she was uncertain whether Kong Jiu was a friend or foe, he had indeed caught a fish, which was sothing she couldn’t do herself.
"Hehe, thanks for the complint, beautiful sister." Kong Jiu seed overjoyed, and he responded with a particularly bright smile.
Qin Sisi squatted down to examine the fish. The poor little fish flapped its tail weakly, and its mouth opened and closed slowly.
After observing it for a while, Qin Sisi realized that there were no stripes on the fish. What she thought were stripes were actually the fish’s blood vessels. Through the thin mbrane, she could faintly see blue blood flowing.
This was really odd; the blood of this kind of fish was actually blue.
Qin Sisi looked up at Kong Jiu, "The blood of these fishes seems to be blue, do you know why?"
Kong Jiu’s hand had returned to normal in the warm air he had been blowing on it. He clapped his hands, speaking nonchalantly, "What’s so strange about that? Nature is full of wonders, who says blood can only be red?"
The argunt sounded absurd, but upon further thought, it made so sense.
Apart from humans, countless plants and animals live in nature. So of them are so strange they defy all logic. It is quite possible that so unique species might have blood of different colors.
