Chapter 704: 704
As the eastern sky was about to light up, Ye You erected the Invisible Bubble, and Qin Sisi summoned the Wings of Rainbow. They returned to their hotel with Ye You, and after a few hours of rest, they embarked on the train back to S City.
Qin Sisi took great interest in the reconnection between Gao Yang Princess and Bian Ji, and she posed an inquiry to Ye You.
Ye You shook his head, replying: "I’m only responsible for making them et each other. I don’t care about what happens afterward."
"Will they end up together?" Qin Sisi persisted, eagerly looking at Ye You.
After a mont’s contemplation, Ye You replied, "Given their sinister minds and cruel actions, they likely won’t have a favorable outco."
Qin Sisi opened her mouth, said no more and rely sighed desolately.
Lovers fated yet separated always believe that without obstacles, they could be together. Yet, they eventually realize that the greatest obstacle is actually themselves.
A thousand years later, Gao Liyang from the most prestigious higher-learning institute’s art major and Bian Ji studying Buddhism t during their pri years.
One was as passionate as the sun, the other gentle as jade. The handso man and the beautiful woman fell in love at first sight, initiating a swift and enthusiastic romance.
However, Gao Liyang was the only daughter of the province’s wealthiest businessman, and Bian Ji was rely an orphan with no background.
Her background did not affect Gao Liyang’s affections for Bian Ji. She loved him fervently, as hot as the sumr sun, wishing their flesh and blood could fuse together.
However, they were not the only individuals in the world. Gao Liyang had family and studies, while Bian Ji had his own social circle, teachers, and classmates who were always by his side.
In Gao Liyang’s eyes, any woman around Bian Ji was a romantic rival. She couldn’t stand Bian Ji even speaking an extra word to any other woman.
Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to reproach or complain to Bian Ji, venting all her frustration on those innocent girls instead.
Her wealthy father, fearing she would be bullied, had assigned her several bodyguards since childhood.
Gao Liyang then sent two of them to surveil Bian Ji. Whenever any girls spoke more than a few words to him, the bodyguards would imdiately report to Gao Liyang. Depending on the severity of the situation, she would command her bodyguards to exact revenge on that particular girl.
It started with verbal threats and insults, slaps to the face, which then escalated into beatings, disfiguring attacks, and even commanding her bodyguards to sexually assault those girls.
Finally, when Gao Liyang heard that a very beautiful girl confessed her love to Bian Ji, she could no longer contain her rage. Even knowing that Bian Ji had rejected the girl, she wasn’t at peace. Offering her bodyguards a considerable sum, she had them kill the girl.
As the saying goes, ’you can’t cover fire with paper.’ Eventually, everything was exposed. The bodyguards were sentenced to jail, and though Gao Liyang was cleared through her father’s imnse wealth, she was severely reprimanded. Her allowance was limited, she was forbidden to leave the house on a whim, and her new bodyguards’ duties changed from protection to surveillance.
After Bian Ji learned the whole truth, he, brimming with sorrow, couldn’t accept how he had hurt so many people and caused the death of an innocent life.
The enchanting goddess in his eyes turned out to be a devilish, malicious creature.
Bian Ji committed suicide by throwing himself into a river on a misty night, hoping the cool waters would purge his earthly filth.
At the mont his soul left his body, a golden figure appeared before Bian Ji.
Atop a golden lotus sat a man in a cross-legged position. His face gentle and kind, he had a high forehead, square lips, low-hanging ears, wearing a multicolored kasaya. One hand was poised in front of his chest, chanting softly in Sanskrit that echoed mysteriously.
"Renounce desire, cherish morality, distinguish the spirits of the mortal world, differentiate the six senses, discern beauty and ugliness...."
The Sanskrit words were like a divine hamr to his head. With a sudden enlightennt, Bian Ji understood the cycle of death and rebirth. His reunion with Gao Yang Princess was not a repaynt of an old debt but rather a termination.
From then on, mundane life, desires as endless as the sea, beautiful won — blossoming and withering like flowers — no longer mattered to him.
In his next life as a human being, Bian Ji once again chose to study Buddhism, joining a monastery right after graduation. He devoted himself to the study of Buddhism with single-minded piety and desired nothing else.
After Bian Ji drowned himself, Gao Liyang likewise committed suicide.
Their love was as fierce as the sun and as deep as the ocean, but the two souls entwined in a past life would never et again.
On the afternoon of the ninth day in July, Qin Sisi finally got off the train and returned to S city.
There were considerable after-effects from the fight with Gao Yang Princess the previous night. Ye You was severely injured, and Qin Sisi had exhausted her strength. She was still feeling aches and pains in her waist and back, and her legs were weakly trembling.
They took a cab ho, quickly tidied up, and went to bed. Qin Sisi, however, didn’t forget to set the alarm.
At 10 p.m., the alarm rang. Qin Sisi and Ye You woke up from their sleep. She made so simple als in the kitchen, and after having their fill, they started to flip through the Magic notes, waiting for an old friend to arrive.
At midnight, a knock on the window resounded. Qin Sisi looked up; Pei Pei, in a blue dress, was floating outside the window with her free-flowing hair and emotionless face.
Qin Sisi got up and went forward to open the window, allowing Pei Pei to co in.
From the ninth day of the first month to the ninth day of the seventh month, half a year passed in the blink of an eye. The Love Potion was about to lose its effectiveness.
"Where’s Lan Di?" asked Qin Sisi, glancing at the blank look on Pei Pei’s face. She wasn’t sure what to say and decided to ask about the person Pei Pei was most interested in.
After so hesitation, Pei Pei answered slowly, "He’s asleep. When he wakes up tomorrow, he probably won’t rember , right?"
Qin Sisi looked at Ye You, not saying anything. She wasn’t sure of the precise effects of the Love Potion, but, according to what she’d heard before, once the Love Potion wore off, Lan Di would forget everything about Pei Pei.
She couldn’t bring herself to convey this cruel reality, and she believed that deep inside, Pei Pei understood but just couldn’t let go.
Qin Sisi looked at the pale and haggard face of Pei Pei, noticing faint tear marks at the corner of her eyes, and asked softly, "Do you regret it?"
Pei Pei shook her head firmly, saying, "I don’t regret it. I’ve been very happy in the past six months. If he forgets , he forgets. As long as I rember him, that’s all that matters."
"Do you have any other wishes?" Qin Sisi asked further, still considering Pei Pei a friend, hoping to help her more.
Pei Pei contemplated for a mont but ultimately shook her head.
Qin Sisi suggested, "Perhaps, you can et Lan Di again in the next life."
As soon as she said this, Qin Sisi imdiately realized her mistake.
Lan Di was a Ghost Immortal, destined to remain in the underworld for eternity, hence would not have another life.
Upon Pei Pei’s departure, they would never et each other again.
