Chapter 676: Chapter 676 Best Friend_1
After completing the task, the ssenger of Death cast a fleeting glance at Qin Sisi, as his black robe fluttered, his figure rapidly lifting off the ground before quickly disappearing into the vast night.
It was close to four in the morning. The long, dark night was about to end, with the glimring sunlight soon to illuminate the entire world, leaving no place for those evils lurking in the corners to hide.
The second Invisible Bubble also beca ineffective. Night You conjured a semi-transparent silver sphere, carrying Qin Sisi back to the hotel where they stayed.
Eager to find out how the matter with Luo Wei would unfold, Qin Sisi rescheduled her train ticket for a day later.
When daylight arrived, the body of the renowned female sculptor Luo Wei, who had jumped from a building, was discovered. The police then stepped in to investigate, and surveillance footage from the art gallery was promptly retrieved.
Unfortunately, soone had tampered with the surveillance system; at slightly past midnight, the monitoring feed had frozen in place, leaving the police without any valuable clues.
anwhile, a sculpture nad "My Love" caught the attention of the police. The body hidden inside the sculpture was easily discovered.
Through a DNA comparison, the authorities quickly confird that the body was that of Luo Wei’s husband, Han Zhenjiang.
More than a year ago, Luo Wei had reported that her husband had gone missing while mountain climbing in the wilderness. Although a considerable number of police officers had been dispatched to search the wild mountain, no progress was made, and the case had to be dropped.
Now, Han Zhenjiang’s body had reappeared in one of Luo Wei’s sculptures, igniting wild rumors and theories around the hidden truth of the situation.
Speculation quickly spread that Luo Wei had murdered her own husband and turned him into a sculpture.
This gripping tale, fused with elents of thriller, mystery, romance, marriage and art, had people talking for years.
But nobody knew the actual reason. Most people leaned towards the speculation that Han Zhenjiang had done sothing to hurt Luo Wei, which lead her to kill him.
This was the way ordinary people thought. Qin Sisi knew that, if she hadn’t witnessed the truth firsthand, she would never have guessed that Luo Wei had killed Han Zhenjiang for his youth and beauty, and her love for him.
Another day went by, and Qin Sisi finally boarded the train back to S City.
After a nearly thirty-hour bumpy ride, she arrived back in familiar S City with her backpack still carrying Night You.
As the night lights began to spring up, the ceaselessly flickering neon lights reflected the city’s prosperity. Yet, she was going to leave this place soon, wasn’t she?
Qin Sisi did not take a car; she walked slowly, carrying her backpack.
She used to roam the streets late at night, looking for ghosts, but rarely took ti to appreciate the city’s beautiful night view. Today, she suddenly wanted to take a good look at the city.
Here was where she had encountered Night You; it had special significance for her. Although there weren’t many other fond mories, as the mont to leave was approaching, she was feeling a trace of sentint and reluctance.
Qin Sisi took Night You out of the bag, lightly stroked the smoothness of his back a few tis, held him in her arms, and walked silently on the night streets.
Night You looked up at her, seemingly sensing her slightly complicated emotions. He said nothing and quietly snuggled into her warm arms.
After a two-hour walk, Qin Sisi finally returned ho.
Upon turning on the lights, the brightness of the room revived the warmth of ho.
Qin Sisi and Night You exchanged smiles, dispelling much of the lancholy mood.
After quickly freshening up, the pair put aside their exhaustion, lying in the soft bed, arms around each other, and fell asleep.
The next day, Qin Sisi had just gotten up when her phone started to ring. It was Lin Shan on the line.
Qin Sisi recalled that Lin Shan had ntioned she would be returning to S City, so she promptly answered the call: "Hello, Shan Shan."
Lin Shan sounded tired, but with a bit of excitent: "Sisi, I’ll be in S City in two hours. Will you treat
to lunch?"
Qin Sisi replied readily: "Sure, what ti will you arrive? I’ll pick you up from the train station."
Lin Shan laughed: "That’s more like it! I thought you wouldn’t welco !"
Qin Sisi retorted: "Stop nagging, or I might really not welco you."
"No, no, no!" Lin Shan joked and laughed before finally telling her arrival ti in S City.
After hanging up, Qin Sisi had breakfast with Night You. She then told him she was going to the train station to pick up Lin Shan, and that they would have lunch together. She asked Night You if he’d like to co along.
Night You hesitated slightly. He wanted to stay with Qin Sisi all the ti, out of love and a desire to ensure her safety.
But Lin Shan’s big mouth was sowhat hard for him to tolerate. He still rembered Lin Shan’s comnt about getting a female cat for him to mate with.
Noticing Night You’s hesitations, Qin Sisi offered: "Maybe you should stay ho. It’s not a big deal, you can rest. I’ll return as soon as I finish lunch."
Night You thought about it and agreed to Qin Sisi’s suggestion. He stayed ho to rest, allowing Qin Sisi to go and catch up with her best friend.
When the ti ca, Qin Sisi changed her clothes, said goodbye to Night You, and left for the train station.
Two girlfriends, reunited after a long ti, were bursting with intimate talks. The lively Lin Shan also brought many gifts for Qin Sisi: southern local snacks, a pretty pendant, and a facial mask pack.
Lin Shan said cheekily: "Sisi, you need to dress up and market yourself, and don’t hold back, or else I won’t forgive you."
Qin Sisi’s eyes flickered. She dearly wanted to share her love life with Lin Shan, but the unique factors of Night You’s status might cause him trouble if too many people knew about him.
Moreover, she didn’t know whether Lin Shan would be able to accept it or would try to persuade her to leave Night You after finding out.
Considering everything, Qin Sisi decided to continue hiding the truth and responded with a grin: "Alright, we’ll see. You’re a year older than , so you should find soone first."
Lin Shan’s expression stiffened slightly, but it quickly returned to normal. She replied breezily: "Have you forgotten? I’m a single-by-choice advocate."
Lin Shan’s change in expression didn’t escape Qin Sisi’s notice. She was aware of the great hurt the past event had inflicted on Lin Shan. However, noticing Lin Shan gradually returning to her usual cheerful self, Qin Sisi was confident that she would soon overco her past shadows.
