Chapter 626: Chapter 626 Failed Negotiations_1
The old eunuch consciously realized that he had given himself away, coughed twice to cover it up, and then said, "So what if I did? This old man was from the Imperial Palace after all, you little girl wouldn’t know what the palace looks like!"
Qin Sisi touched her nose, presuming the Imperial Palace she referred to was the modern-day Forbidden City. She had never been there, only seen pictures of it in books and online.
At that mont, the old eunuch spotted a detail in Qin Sisi’s words and asked with a high-pitched voice, "What did you say before? Almost beca a eunuch? So he didn’t end up as one?"
After considering it, Qin Sisi replied innocently, "Of course not, because I happened to be there. He was so young, if he really beca a eunuch, how would he live? There is no Emperor anymore, so there is no need for eunuchs, so I cured him. Saving a life is more ritorious than building a Seventh-level Pagoda. Right, grandpa?"
The old eunuch, left speechless by Qin Sisi’s seemingly kind words, after a while, he huffed, "Fine, I’ll forgive and forget. You are quite a piece of work though, managing to break my spell."
Qin Sisi felt like laughing inside. The old eunuch’s spell was probably child’s play to Ye You!
But on the surface, she calmly responded, "Thank you for the complint, grandpa."
The old eunuch stroked his bald chin, glanced cockily at Qin Sisi, and said, "What exactly do you want? Not only did you ruin my chance for revenge, but you are also here at my doorstep. Isn’t this going too far?"
After a mont of consideration, Qin Sisi sidestepped the matter of hitting the tree and instead asked, "Grandpa, why haven’t you reincarnated in the underworld?"
His silence spoke volus, suggesting that this was a sensitive matter. He sighed deeply, expressing his grief, "Isn’t it because I was incomplete when I was alive? After die, my soul was also incomplete. If I were to reincarnate in such a state, it could lead to problems in my next life. That’s why I wanted to practice and complete my soul before attempting to reincarnate.
My useless adopted son only made matters worse. Before I died, I told him to plant a sophora tree next to my grave, so that I could harness its Yin-accumulating ability to fix my soul within decades.
There were no sophora trees on this mountain. He grumbled about it being too difficult to carry one up, so he just moved a maple tree from nearby. That ended up extending my practice to hundreds of years. How unfortunate am I!"
While speaking, the eunuch gave a sorrowful smirk, pulling out a white handkerchief from the deep blue robe, and wiping his eyes, which were devoid of tears.
After exchanging a glance with Ye You, Qin Sisi cautiously offered, "Grandpa, if I can help your soul to beco whole again, could you possibly do
a favour?"
The old eunuch looked cautiously at Qin Sisi and bluntly asked, "What kind of favor?"
Qin Sisi cleared her throat and proposed, "I am in need of Soul Power now. Could you give your Soul Power to ?"
The old eunuch was infuriated, "You shaless girl. Though my soul is incomplete, you want to shatter it completely! It seems you’re quite wicked despite your age. Those good old days are gone!"
So filled was the old eunuch with frustration and anger that even Qin Sisi felt as if she had done sothing wrong.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she scratched her head and rushed to explain, "It’s not what you think. Offerings of Soul Power will scatter your soul temporarily in different places. After a while, your soul will gather once again, thus enabling you to reincarnate with a complete soul."
The old eunuch stared at Qin Sisi and sternly asked, "Don’t fool
around. How long will it actually take?"
A real slick old fox.
Qin Sisi gritted her teeth, reluctantly admitting, "One thousand years."
"One thousand years?!" The eunuch started stomping again, "I only need a few hundred years to practice and beco whole. You co in with a thousand years. Do you take
for a fool?!"
Qin Sisi looked heavenward in exasperation. This was the worst negotiation she had ever had with a ghost, even she herself had to admit, why should the ghost agree to such a deal?
The old eunuch sighed and said, "Alright, little girl, you can leave now. Don’t bother
anymore."
The old eunuch turned around, prepared to hide back into the big maple tree and continue his practice.
Qin Sisi quickly composed herself and said loudly, "I can also grant other wishes of yours! You can choose what you want in your next life, be it wealth and honour, fa and fortune. I can make sure you have it in your next life."
Finally, these words intrigued the old eunuch, who stopped and turned around. His small eyes illuminated, staring at Qin Sisi for a mont before asking, "Young lady, do you truly have this capability?"
Qin Sisi nodded emphatically, firmly asserting, "This is our Soul Contract. I will fulfill the promises I have made, otherwise I will face divine punishnt."
The old eunuch seed hesitant. If Qin Sisi’s promises were genuine, then it might be worth considering.
Choosing between waiting a thousand years for a life of his choosing or continuing his own practice for a few hundred years to reincarnate anyway left the old eunuch undecided.
In the end, the old eunuch made up his mind, rolled up his sleeves and said to Qin Sisi, "Girl, you have the nerve to intrude my space, I must fight back to save face. Let’s have a duel, if you win, we’ll do it your way."
If Qin Sisi was indeed able to defeat him, it would prove her abilities, aning she could truly help him fulfil his wish and achieve the next life he desired.
Hearing that the old eunuch intended to settle things through a duel, Qin Sisi hesitated and glanced at Ye You.
After all, the old eunuch had practiced for several decades, giving him so spiritual power, and she wasn’t totally confident she could beat him.
Ye You raised his claw, stroked her hair encouragingly, and said, "Go for it, you can do it."
After saying this, Ye You hopped off Qin Sisi’s shoulder and moved aside to watch the battle, ready to help her secretly if needed.
Qin Sisi took a deep breath to calm her heart, took two steps forward, stood face-to-face with the old eunuch and said, "In that case, I willingly accept the challenge."
"Good." The old eunuch whispered. He quickly raised his arms and a dense cloud of black smoke appeared behind him.
With a solemn face, he pushed his arms forward, and the thick black smoke, as if commanded, swirled rapidly towards Qin Sisi.
