Chapter 613: Chapter 613 Midnight Song_1
The more they avoided the matter, the more it hurt like a thorn in their side.
Now that Qi Jiaming has brought it up himself, Xiao Wei feels that the pain is not so intense.
After the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Qi Jiaming approached his departnt head and submitted an application for leave without pay, stating that his brother’s suicide had impacted his ntal state and he needed ti to adjust. He also apologized for his lack of dedication in his previous work.
The departnt head had high expectations for Qi Jiaming, but his recent performance had deteriorated, leading to thoughts of dismissal.
However, since Qi Jiaming had actively requested unpaid leave, the departnt head agreed without hesitation, patiently advising Qi Jiaming to adjust his ntal state as soon as possible and return to work.
One year later, Qi Jiaming returned to his original position and married Xiao Wei.
He finally sorted out the situation left by his twin brother and resud his original life.
However, he never encountered any supernatural events, and naturally never saw Qin Sisi again.
After settling Qi Jiaming’s affairs, Qin Sisi rested for a day and a night, finally feeling her vigor return.
Just as she was discussing with Ye You about how to find the next ghost, a tily phone call ca in, the caller ID showed it to be Director Liu.
Qin Sisi was taken aback for a mont, and it took her two seconds to rember who Director Liu was.
When Ning Hao’s sister, Ning Yue, went missing, they had gone to the University of Science and Technology to search for her and had encountered and defeated the ghost of Yuan Lishu.
That night, she and Ning Hao had t Director Liu, the person in charge at the University of Science and Technology.
Later, at Director Liu’s request, Qin Sisi had helped a girl nad Xie Kexin expel a ghost from Hei Shan that was following her.
So, Director Liu was an old acquaintance.
Qin Sisi swiped her finger to answer the call and said in a clear voice, "Hello, Director Liu."
On the other end of the phone, Director Liu chuckled, "Sisi, I thought you might not rember ."
"How could I forget?" Qin Sisi replied politely, shyly sticking her tongue out at Ye You. In truth, she had to think for a mont to recall who he was.
Director Liu stopped laughing and said seriously, "Sisi, we’ve had another strange incident at our school. I suspect it’s supernatural, so I wanted to ask you to co take a look."
Qin Sisi beca attentive imdiately. "Sure, when should I co over?"
Director Liu asked in surprise, "Sisi, you seem to be very interested in supernatural events. You seem quite excited."
"Uh...," Qin Sisi hesitated and muttered, "I’ve been a bit short of money lately!"
Director Liu laughed, "No problem, as long as the matter is handled well, your hard work will definitely be rewarded."
Relieved that Director Liu no longer questioned her interest in supernatural events, Qin Sisi cautiously replied, "Thank you in advance, Director Liu. When do you think it would be suitable for
to co over?"
After mulling it over, Director Liu suggested, "From what I rember, you mostly work at night. How about you co over in the afternoon? I’ll explain the situation to you and if it’s suitable, you can take action in the evening."
"Okay," Qin Sisi answered promptly.
Director Liu’s arrangents made sense. They were usually active at night because ghosts generally only appeared in the evenings. Coming over in the afternoon would be just right.
After lunch, in order to have a lot of energy to work in the evening, Qin Sisi and Ye You went to their bedroom to rest for a while.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, Qin Sisi received a call from Director Liu, asking her to et him at the University of Science and Technology.
Qin Sisi agreed, quickly packed up her things, picked up Ye You, and rushed to the University of Science and Technology.
Just over an hour later, Qin Sisi arrived at the entrance of the University of Science and Technology. She hesitated, wondering if the guards at the entrance would let her in when a sowhat familiar face waived at her.
Upon a closer look, it was the young security officer who was with Director Liu the first ti she had visited the University of Science and Technology.
Qin Sisi smiled and walked over.
"You’re here," the young security guard exclaid cheerfully. "Go on in, Director Liu is waiting for you in his office!"
Qin Sisi thanked him politely and stepped through the grand entrance of the University of Science and Technology.
Standing in the open space in front of the faculty office building, she faintly recalled the location of Director Liu’s office. Holding Ye You tight, she swiftly headed upward.
Upon hearing a series of crisp knocks at the door, Director Liu called out "Co in."
The door opened, and Qin Sisi, dressed in a black tracksuit, walked in with a smile on her face.
"Sisi, co in, co in, we’ve been waiting for you!" Director Liu warmly greeted her and personally made her a pot of tea with freshly boiled water.
Another man, who appeared to be a school security officer based on his uniform, was seated on the couch. He also rose to his feet respectfully as Qin Sisi entered.
Qin Sisi didn’t recognize this man, but she figured his respectful attitude was due to Director Liu’s presence. She politely nodded in greeting.
Director Liu invited Qin Sisi to sit on the single-seat sofa next to the coffee table, while he and the security officer sat on the three-seater couch. "The matter was first discovered by the security team, and it hasn’t spread among the students yet, so I hope it can be resolved as soon as possible to avoid affecting the students’ studies and lives," he explained to Qin Sisi.
Qin Sisi nodded and asked, "I see. Could you give a detailed account of what happened?"
Director Liu pointed to the security officer next to him and said, "This is Captain Sun from the security team. He was the first to notice the problem. Let him tell you about it!"
Qin Sisi turned her gaze to Captain Sun.
Captain Sun shifted forward slightly in his seat and began, "A few days ago, while we were on patrol, we unintentionally heard soone singing from the roof of a girls’ dormitory building.
We initially thought it was a student causing a disturbance, so we yelled at her to stop singing and go to sleep. Then, the singing stopped.
The next night, when we were patrolling that area again, we heard the sa song, almost identical to the previous night. I yelled again, and the singing stopped.
However, on the third night, at the sa ti and in the sa place, the song rang out again.
This ti, I was more vigilant. I shone my flashlight upwards for so ti, but saw no one on the balcony. Yet the singing seed to co from outside; it wouldn’t be so clear if she were singing inside her room.
Later, I woke up the dormitory supervisor and climbed to the rooftop to check, but still found no one. However, the singing stopped when I reached the top.
The more I thought about it, the stranger it seed. So, I reported the matter to Director Liu."
