Chapter 523: Chapter 523 Sweetness on the Nostalgic Terrace_1

Ye You examined the bell in Lan Di’s hand for a mont and said, "The Soul-Attracting Bell, a fine artifact indeed."

Lan Di turned in surprise and looked at Ye You, saying, "You know quite a bit."

Ye You casually replied, "I’ve only read about it in books."

Lan Di gazed at his black bell with satisfaction. "Indeed, it’s a fine object. It cost

quite a bit to acquire it."

Ye You didn’t say anything more. Here, it might be valuable, but in the Demon Sacred Realm, it wasn’t of much use.

Qin Sisi didn’t understand anything about the Soul-Attracting Bell, so she wisely kept quiet.

When Lan Di noticed that no one was praising him, he lost his enthusiasm and silently continued leading the way.

Not long afterwards, under Lan Di’s guidance, Qin Sisi and the others arrived at a temple.

The temple was quite small; an old man with white beard and hair sat at the center, smiling at all the arrivals.

Unlike in the mortal world, the placard above the temple was white with three black characters written on it: Land Temple.

Lan Di turned to Qin Sisi and Ye You and said, "This is the entrance to the underworld. Once you enter, you’re within the bounds of the underworld."

Qin Sisi nodded, then asked with confusion, "But there is no path leading to it!"

Lan Di smiled mockingly and said, "Follow , the path is under our feet."

With that, Lan Di shook the Soul-Attracting Bell and walked towards the old man sitting in the Land Temple. The souls of Qin Sisi and Ye You involuntarily followed him.

Just when they were about to collide with the old man, their surroundings changed abruptly. The white-haired old man disappeared, and all that lingered was a dim gray landscape.

Briefly surveying the area, Qin Sisi saw nothing but chaos in all directions, above and below.

There was no sun, moon, or stars above, no dirt or dust below, no bustling roads in front, and no friends or family behind.

Lan Di explained in a low voice, "This is the path to the underworld. If you continue forwards, you’ll reach Fengdu City in the Underworld."

"The path to the underworld?" Qin Sisi murmured, repeating the phrase. She had initially thought the underworld was a na for a river, yet it was this place of chaos that sowhat reminded her of thick smog in the mortal world.

Ye You pondered for a mont, then asked, "Is our next stop the Nostalgic Terrace?"

Lan Di, looking surprised at Ye You, was taken aback by his extensive knowledge. Nonetheless, he answered seriously, "Yes, it usually takes souls about three days to travel from here to the Nostalgic Terrace, just in ti for the graveside mourning in the mortal world."

While they were talking, a few more soul-like figures erged from the Land Temple and made their way through the path of the underworld, their eyes empty and bodies rigidly walking forward.

Qin Sisi glanced at them and realized that they must be souls of people who had just died.

Ye You then proposed, "Han Zhikun died five days ago. He should have passed the Nostalgic Terrace by now. Let’s head straight there."

"Alright."

Lan Di agreed, but before he could use the Soul-Attracting Bell again, Ye You stopped him and said, "You’re too slow, we’ll go ahead. Try to catch up as quickly as possible."

Before Lan Di could react, Ye You had taken Qin Sisi’s hand and leapt into the air, moving forwards swiftly. In no ti, they were out of sight in the dim path of the underworld.

"A bridge burner!" Lan Di grumbled, put away the Soul-Attracting Bell, and took to the air himself. However, his speed was significantly less than that of Ye You.

The journey that normally takes souls three days was accomplished in two hours by Ye You and Qin Sisi.

Standing on the Nostalgic Terrace, bade farewell to the hotown, forever unable to return.

They saw a lofty stone pedestal, emitting gloomy light, its top flat and perfect for viewing their hotown from afar. On the stone pedestal were three bright red characters - Nostalgic Terrace.

Ye You explained: "Standing on the Nostalgic Terrace, you can take one last look at your ho and loved ones. You just can’t go back."

Qin Sisi turned to look at Ye You, feeling a deep sense of sorrow, and she squeezed his hand.

Ye You, leading Qin Sisi by the hand, landed directly on top of the Nostalgic Terrace. He showed Qin Sisi to look back from afar, and indeed, their bodies were lying quietly on the bed.

Of course, there was a black cat next to Qin Sisi.

With Lan Di not around, Qin Sisi curiously asked Ye You, "Why do you look normal now?"

Ye You moistened his lips and said, "The curse afflicted my body, not my soul."

Qin Sisi thought for a mont and asked, "So, what I saw in the mirror was your soul, right?"

Ye You, with his arm around Qin Sisi’s shoulder said, "To be precise, it was the projection of my soul."

Qin Sisi nodded in understanding, but remained silent.

Ye You glanced at her, put his hands on her shoulders, and pulled her close. He looked her in the eyes and gently asked, "Sisi, do you resent

for not eting with you like this earlier?"

Qin Sisi shook her head and calmly replied, "No, you told

projecting your soul is very draining. You should rest and recover, conserve your strength."

Ye You sighed and said, "Even if I truly projected my soul, if you were still in human form, you still would not have been able to touch . Only when we’re both in the form of souls can we touch each other.

I don’t mind it, but you’re a normal person. Forcing the soul out of the body can greatly harm you, and elixirs can’t cure everything. So I couldn’t be selfish."

Qin Sisi felt a pang in her heart. She finally understood that Ye You hadn’t t her in this manner earlier not because of himself, but because of her.

She gazed deep into Ye You’s handso, clear face, a mix of emotions washing over her. She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned her head against his chest.

Ye You pull Qin Sisi into a tight embrace, wishing he could be closer to her, even closer.

In the eternally sunless and moonless underworld, high up on the Nostalgic Terrace, this mont would be one of their sweetest mories.

Past souls ascended the Nostalgic Terrace step by step, taking one last look back at their forr hos and loved ones. Then, with tears streaming down their faces, they continued walking onwards, seemingly oblivious to the loving couple by their side.

The pair waited on the Nostalgic Terrace for an hour, but Lan Di still did not show up.

Ye You was noticeably impatient and said to Qin Sisi, "We’ll move on and search for Han Zhikun’s soul on the way. Lan Di should be able to catch up."

"Okay." Qin Sisi agreed, naturally acceding to Ye You’s plan.

So, the two left the Nostalgic Terrace and moved forward. They soon reached the next checkpoint.

They saw a cliff face, towering and imposing, as if handcrafted by gods. There was a narrow path leading to the top of the mountain, beside a string of ferocious sounding barks emanating from within. The inscription in front of the mountain read: Evil Dog Ridge.
