Chapter 38: Chapter 38: I will take care of you_1
With worry in her eyes, Qin Sisi glanced at Ye You, the words she wanted to say ultimately unspoken. Perhaps in Ye You’s eyes, sacrificing a bit of spiritual power to gain soul power was a good trade-off. After all, soul power was very important to him, so thinking about it this way, her concern seed sowhat redundant.
Qin Sisi let out a sigh, pushed down her chaotic thoughts, quickly typed the words "Deal" into her phone, and sent it.
After about an hour, Qin Sisi had already had breakfast with Ye You. Lan Di’s ssage finally arrived late: "Song Ziheng will hold his wedding at Rontec Hotel in S City on August 18th."
"August 18?" Qin Sisi repeated softly, then jolted with a realization. She hurriedly opened the calendar on her phone, only to jump out of bed upon seeing the date: "Today is August 18!"
Everything was too abrupt, even Ye You couldn’t help but feel a bit tense: "Pack up, we leave right away."
Without even bothering to answer, Qin Sisi grabbed her clothes and dashed into the bathroom.
Ever since knowing Ye You’s true identity, Qin Sisi would go to the bathroom to change her clothes, always dressed properly at ho, only changing into sleepwear in the bathroom before going to sleep. Even her sleepwear was long-sleeve, full-length attire.
Fifteen minutes later, Qin Sisi erged from the bathroom. For convenience, she had chosen a crisp white T-shirt and jeans instead of a skirt, her long hair tied back into a ponytail, simple and elegant.
Ye You’s gaze lingered on her for a mont, vaguely reminding him of a line of poetry he had once read in a book: "A hibiscus flower, naturally unbeknownst to artificial embellishnt."
"Are we summoning the Wings of the Rainbow?" Qin Sisi asked Ye You.
Ye You shook his head. "No, we’ll use the Invisible Bubble once we get to the hotel. Let’s take a taxi."
Qin Sisi took out a larger-than-average backpack, placed Ye You inside, then slung the backpack onto her shoulders before heading out. To avoid unwanted trouble, it was best not to let Ye You appear in public if possible.
When she reached the entrance of their housing estate, it was approximately 6:30 am. After about ten minutes, Qin Sisi hailed a taxi. After announcing their destination, the driver grunted in affirmation, and the taxi whisked them off.
Rontec Hotel was situated downtown, rather far from where Qin Sisi lived. The taxi journey lasted for nearly an hour before they arrived at their destination.
Upon alighting, Qin Sisi checked the ti. It wasn’t even 8 AM yet. Rontec Hotel seed to have only just opened for the day with staffers busily cleaning its exterior.
Now that she was already there, she thought to herself, she shouldn’t miss anything. Qin Sisi breathed a sigh of relief, took out her phone, and dialed her departnt manager, Yu Ping, intending to ask for a leave of absence.
Qin Sisi tried to make her voice sound as polite as possible: "Hello, Director Yu, this is Qin Sisi from your departnt." She decided to fully introduce herself in case Yu Ping had failed to rember her na after only a couple of days.
"Uh huh, what’s the matter?" Yu Ping’s voice was indifferent.
Qin Sisi continued: "Sothing ca up at ho, I need to take the day off."
"What’s the reason?" Yu Ping sounded slightly displeased.
Reason? Qin Sisi furrowed her brow, she was not good at lying and in the spur of the mont, she couldn’t find a suitable excuse. All she could do was mumble uncertainly: "Well... sothing happened at ho."
"Can’t you tell
what it is?" Yu Ping’s tone turned colder.
Left with no choice, Qin Sisi forced herself to say: "Uh... yes, that’s correct."
"Fine." Yu Ping tossed the words out tersely, and without waiting for Qin Sisi to say anything else, she hung up the phone.
The busy signal rang into Qin Sisi’s ear. She put down her phone, sighing in frustration. It seed she had already left a bad impression on her boss, thus she worried about it affecting her future work prospects.
"Is everything okay?" ca Ye You’s voice from behind her, sounding concerned.
Qin Sisi felt a warmth spread through her, she turned to address the backpack holding Ye You in a relaxed tone: "It’s okay, I took the day off."
Ye You didn’t say anything else, but in a corner unseen by Qin Sisi, a flicker of unease and worry passed through his purple eyes. He had to hurry up and convince Qin Sisi to resign. He can’t allow her to exhaust herself and suffer for his sake.
At that mont, a few staff from the Rontec Hotel ca out, hanging a bright red banner at the hotel’s entrance.
Qin Sisi looked up to see a line of golden characters on it: "Congratulations to the groom, Mr. Song Ziheng, and the bride, Ms. Xia Han, on their marriage. Best wishes for a hundred years of good union."
Qin Sisi’s heart beat faster. Yes, she was at the right place.
After carefully considering her words, Qin Sisi approached the staff and asked, "Hello, do you know what ti Mr. Song’s wedding will start?"
The staff smiled and replied: "The reception starts at ten, and the official wedding ceremony will begin at eleven."
Qin Sisi nodded, thanked the staff, and took her leave. With neither the bride nor the groom there yet, her lingering around wouldn’t serve any purpose. It would be more beneficial for her to take a stroll nearby, breathe in so fresh air, and familiarize herself with the surroundings.
Having already asked for leave, and having already upset her boss, there was no use in overthinking things. She decided to focus on handling today’s matters first and consider tomorrow’s issues tomorrow.
Not far from the Rontec Hotel, there was a small park, like a sparrow, small but complete. The park was lush with green trees, vibrant holly bushes, a stone path winding through them, a small pavilion with a classical design in the middle, and at the far end, a piece of hardened open ground with several pieces of fitness equipnt. A few elderly folks were enthusiastically exercising.
Qin Sisi took Ye You out from her backpack and carried him as she strolled down the stone path and said breezily, "Feels like it’s been forever since I’ve had a chance to relax like this."
Ye You joined in on her sentint: "If you quit your job, you’d be able to relax like this all the ti."
Qin Sisi furrowed her brow, a bit defiantly: "Why are we back to this again? How would I support myself if I quit my job? Are you going to provide for ?"
Ye You looked up at her, his gaze sweeping across her slender, fair neck, her ear as round as the moon, finally resting on her clear eyes. With a mix of seriousness and jest, he responded, "Sure, I’ll provide for you."
A reddish hue spread across Qin Sisi’s tensed face. She turned her head to avoid Ye You’s gaze. After a while, she stuttered out in a soft voice, "Let’s talk about it once your curse is lifted."
The atmosphere fell silent for a mont. Both of them knew that the road to lifting the curse was long, fraught with many unknown dangers and difficulties. Discussing other matters at this ti indeed seed a bit premature.
They walked in silence, Qin Sisi rested on a bench in the park for a while. Noticing it was about ti, she stood up, carrying Ye You, and started heading back towards the Rontec Hotel.
