Chapter 378: Chapter 378: The One Who Loves
and The One I Love_1
Hearing Qin Sisi’s speculation about his own identity, the young man fell silent. After a long pause, he finally slowly responded, "Twenty years ago, I was a music teacher at this school, and at the sa ti, I was also a librarian."
There was a ti when the functional allocation of certain units was not particularly clear. If leadership felt that your work was too easy, then they might ask you to multitask with another responsibility. This situation was fairly common at that ti.
Because this man shared the sa profession as her father, Qin Sisi felt a little more sympathetic towards him.
Besides, Qin Sisi was also filled with curiosity about this gentlemanly man who appeared quite young and seed to be about her own age. She didn’t understand why he had passed away prematurely.
Qin Sisi tentatively asked, "May I ask, how did you pass away?"
The man’s expression froze for a mont before he counter-questioned, "What are the rumors outside now?"
Qin Sisi replied, "The rumors only hint at an accident, the event has been so long that nobody really knows what actually happened."
The man bore a sowhat ashad expression, and after a long pause, slowly said, "It was an accident and yet, it wasn’t. I was my own downfall and moreover, I caused the death of two innocent people."
His vague statent left Qin Sisi befuddled. She looked at the man with a puzzled expression, unable to decipher what he was trying to convey.
Perhaps it was from being alone for too long. The sudden encounter with soone who could understand his music stirred up so long-dormant emotions in the man.
As he gazed at the snowflakes fluttering outside the window, his thoughts drifted back to the finest years of his life. His magnetic voice filled the quietness of the dark night, slowly unraveling a love story that began blissfully but ended brutally.
The hands of ti were turned back by the touch of mory, taking him back to twenty years ago.
Back then, Lu Yimin had just graduated from college as a music major. He was handso, charismatic, and blessed with exceptional piano skills and a charming voice.
Upon graduation, Lu Yimin was assigned to the city’s middle school as a music teacher. The disregard for art classes and overemphasis on academic subjects was even more pronounced then, making Yimin’s teaching position quite leisurely. This led to the school appointing him as the librarian as well.
Lu Yimin took these arrangents in stride, calmly accepting the school’s various assignnts and diligently performing his duties.
At that ti, Lu Yimin had a fiancée, Fan Xiaoe, who was his junior high school classmate.
Fan Xiaoe was very attractive and renowned as the most beautiful girl in their class.
Their relationship had endured opposition from the school and their parents, but they persevered. They believed that their love was capable of moving mountains and would eventually be blessed by all.
However, Fan Xiaoe’s family was not well off. She hadn’t gone to college, instead, she had attended a diocre vocational school after finishing junior high and later worked as a ticket seller at the train station.
When Fan Xiaoe started working, Lu Yimin had just entered college, a ti when expenses peaked. Fan Xiaoe would divide her salary into three portions, one for Yimin, one for her parents, and keep one for herself.
Lu Yimin thus felt deeply indebted to Fan Xiaoe, vowing to treat her well for the rest of his life.
Thus, as soon as he graduated from college, Lu Yimin imdiately got engaged to Fan Xiaoe.
If life had continued without hiccups, perhaps Lu Yimin would have quickly married Fan Xiaoe, and they would have lived as a loving couple.
Unfortunately, so incidents occur without warning, and even if you resist with all your might, they still happen.
Half a year later, a new librarian, Zhou Yuan, arrived at the library.
Zhou Yuan was also a university graduate. She majored in Fine Art and, like Lu Yimin, was appointed as a part-ti librarian due to her light teaching workload.
And so, Zhou Yuan, with her fashionable appearance, elegant artistic temperant, and refined conversation skills, breezed into Lu Yimin’s life, throwing him off balance.
Despite Lu Yimin continuously reminding himself about Fan Xiaoe’s existence, his fascination with Zhou Yuan only intensified, and he found himself increasingly infatuated with her.
At the sa ti, Zhou Yuan was irresistibly drawn to Lu Yimin’s charm and talent. It was inevitable that they fell in love.
Walls have ears, and word of Lu Yimin and Zhou Yuan’s affair soon reached Fan Xiaoe. Won in love are incredibly sensitive. A slight probe from Fan Xiaoe was enough to confirm that Lu Yimin’s heart had changed.
The depths of love can be asured by the depths of hatred.
Fan Xiaoe didn’t make a fuss. Instead, she feigned ignorance and continued to be tender towards Lu Yimin.
During a hot afternoon, Fan Xiaoe ca to visit Lu Yimin at the library, carrying three bottles of chilled orange juice.
The first floor was deserted. Fan Xiaoe intentionally quieted her steps as she made her way upstairs.
In the farthest corner on the second floor, Lu Yimin was teaching Zhou Yuan how to play the piano.
The two were sitting close together, one handso and upright, the other graceful and elegant.
Lu Yimin’s magnetic voice was softer than when he showered Fan Xiaoe with sweet nothings.
The sight before her eyes deeply wounded Fan Xiaoe. Her heart that had been wavering suddenly turned cold and hard.
Fan Xiaoe silently retreated to the first floor. After shouting Lu Yimin’s na a few tis, she climbed back upstairs with heavy steps.
Lu Yimin and Zhou Yuan were both embarrassed by Fan Xiaoe’s appearance. However, Fan Xiaoe was cheerful and generous, handing over two bottles of orange juice to Lu Yimin and Zhou Yuan. She then opened up another bottle and began to gulp it down.
Lu Yimin and Zhou Yuan didn’t suspect a thing. Chiding themselves for being rude, they accepted Fan Xiaoe’s kindness, particularly given the hot weather. Both of them happily gulped down the sweet and sour orange juice.
Once all that remained were three empty bottles, Fan Xiaoe looked at Lu Yimin and Zhou Yuan, a strange smile spreading across her face.
The sky, which had been clear monts ago, suddenly darkened. Lu Yimin began to feel cold. Just as he was about to ask Fan Xiaoe about it, a clap of thunder from the sky caught him off guard. A few minutes later, a downpour began.
An agonizing pain in his stomach hit him like a tornado, twisting his face into a grimace. Fan Xiaoe’s expression beca distorted and manic.
"If I can’t have you, no one else will. Let’s all go to hell together!"
Fan Xiaoe’s curse intermingled with the roaring wind, striking Lu Yimin’s sensitive heart. He suddenly realized the gravity of the terrible mistake he had made.
Fan Xiaoe’s hateful expression and Zhou Yuan’s desperate eyes kept flashing before his eyes. Self-loathing and guilt overwheld Lu Yimin as he helplessly watched the two won he loved the most die in agony right before his eyes.
And he himself was the root of this tragedy.
Several minutes later, the lives of three young people were extinguished forever, leaving behind nothing but a dishonorable legacy.
