Chapter 326: Chapter 326: The Lone Soul Collecting Debts_1

Qin Sisi found the old woman’s advice peculiar and noticing her serious look, Sisi couldn’t help but inquire: "Why can’t I go out at night? Is there a specific reason?"

Older people seem to enjoy clarifying doubts and questions. Seeing Qin Sisi asking, the old lady lowered her voice and enigmatically replied, "Not to withhold anything from you, a household nearby recently experienced a death, not more than two weeks ago."

Qin Sisi appeared casual about it and replied, "Oh, is that so? But it’s been over seven days now. It should be fine, right?"

Seven days serve as a threshold. If the spirit of the deceased hadn’t moved on to the underworld with the ssenger of Death within these seven days, it would officially descend to the Ghost Path and beco a ghost.

The old lady shook her head and whispered, "See, this is the strange part, folks around here who go out during the night reported seeing a white shape floating around by their house."

The two daughters-in-law, who were previously in perfect health, both started suffering from discomfort since his death; one with stomachache, the other with a headache."

People have been saying, the old man died with his eyes open, he has co to collect from his daughters-in-law."

"Collect?" Qin Sisi puzzled further.

What could he possibly want from the daughters-in-law? Had they caused his death? If that was the case, the police would have stepped in.

Seeing Qin Sisi so interested, the old woman found herself increasingly invested in the conversation, "Guess what caused the death of this man?"

Qin Sisi felt her eyelids twitch. It was not a natural death after all?

The old woman realizing that she probably had high expectations of Sisi jumped to her tale without waiting for a response, "The man, he was starved to death."

His wife was long gone, leaving him to raise his sons alone. He worked himself into sickness to ensure the boys could afford their own houses and wives. However, neither daughter-in-law was willing to care for the old man."

Many years ago, in an attempt to earn money, the old man exerted himself to the point of illness and beca bedridden, reliant on others for sustenance."

His daughters-in-law would occasionally toss him a cold bun or a bowl of leftover noodles, but there were many days when they completely ignored him. This neglect led to his untily death."

Listening to the story, Qin Sisi was both shocked and aggrieved. The thought of a man who dedicated his life to raising his sons, only to die such a pitiful death, was daunting. It was tragic enough to possibly maintain his discontentnt beyond death.

Noticing Qin Sisi’s pallid expression, the old woman compassionately advised, "Don’t be scared, dear. Ghosts can’t enter houses without cause, and we’ve avoided anything that might provoke them. You can sleep with peace of mind.

You need only rember not to step out, no matter what the reason."

Qin Sisi nodded her consent and thanked the old woman.

The old woman was happy to see Qin Sisi being obedient. She advised her to sleep early and even considerately provided a spittoon, suggesting Sisi use it if she needed to relieve herself during the night, and stressed once again on the importance of not to venture out.

Qin Sisi was torn between laughter and embarrassnt, unable to find words appropriate for the situation.

It took quite a while for the old lady to leave Sisi’s room. As soon as the door shut, Sisi let out a sigh of relief.

Sisi looked at Ye You, the cat sitting on the table, and both burst into laughter.

After the laughter subsided, Qin Sisi asked, "Do you think there’s a chance of a spirit lurking around?"

Ye You responded in a stern voice, "If the old lady’s story is true, then yes, there’s a significant possibility."

Qin Sisi smirked, "Looks like we’ll be occupied tonight."

Her seemingly casual remark hinted at a steadfastness and assurance, a stark contrast from her initial fear and anxiety.

Ye You cast a content look at Sisi, whispering softly, "Then let’s rest as much as we can."

Having risen at four in the morning and having travelled for over eight hours, both were considerably tired.

Qin Sisi nodded in agreent, set an alarm on her phone for midnight, and crawled into bed to rest, hugging Ye You

Thinking about the work Sisi has put in the whole day and the ghost hunting she had to do later, Ye You felt a twinge of sympathy for her. His paw gently caressed Sisi’s hand, indicating comfort before they drifted into sleep.

After watching Ye You for a bit, Qin Sisi closed her eyes. Her breath slowed, and she relaxed, her lips curling into a serene smile.

At midnight, the shrill noise of the alarm reverberated in the room.

Qin Sisi jolted up, exchanging glances with Ye You beside her, and was quick to slip on her jacket and shoes.

She quietly opened the door and peeked outside, seeing that no one was around, she sighed a relief and proceeded towards the courtyard.

"Wings of Rainbow!" She whispered softly and saw the vibrant wings instantaneously spread out behind her.

When they received Wings of Rainbow, Qin Sisi had to shout their na to summon their power.

Now, as Sisi’s magic power strengthened, and their bond with Wings of Rainbow strengthened, a soft call was all it took for the wings to appear.

Given ti, she theorized, she might be able to silently summon them with just a thought.

Ye You raised his paw and activated an Invisibility Bubble, concealing the luminescence emanating from Sisi.

Flapping the Rainbow Wings, Sisi ascended into the quiet night.

Referencing the old woman’s words, she flew towards the row of houses in the front.

While there weren’t any unusual sightings, the area was overwhelmingly cold.

Qin Sisi furrowed her brows and began searching the area with the help of Rainbow Wings.

As they passed by a house, Ye You, perched on her shoulder, suddenly commanded, "Stop."

Automatically, Qin Sisi seized movent and looked at Ye You.

"This is the place," Ye You said, "let’s go down and check."

"Alright," Sisi replied, guiding the Rainbow Wings to descend into the courtyard of the house.

It was dark and silent all around, and nothing seed amiss from what she could see.

Qin Sisi dismissed the Wings of Rainbow and proceeded towards the house.

The front door was locked, Sisi had no choice but to turn to Ye You for help.

Ye You blinked his purple eyes. He fired a flash of purple light, splitting the lock open softly.

Qin Sisi stayed still, keenly observing the room to ascertain her actions hadn’t stirred the people inside the house. Once certain, she pushed the door open and went inside.

Inside was pitch black, and Sisi lacked the ability to see well in the dark.

Ye You extended his paw and lit the Ziwei Heaven Fire. The soft purple fla flickered on his paw, illuminating their surroundings.
