Chapter 324: Chapter 324: The Hope Primary School in the Mountains_1
Truth be told, Qin Sisi ought to be grateful to the young girl, but with the recent social climate, food offered by a stranger always filled one with unease.
Qin Sisi cast a glance at the sweet smiling, young girl. Despite eting casually, why was the girl treating her with such warmth?
The young girl seed oblivious to Qin Sisi’s internal conflict and continued matter-of-factly, "When I was on my way to school in S City last ti, I also forgot to bring food. My father and I were famished throughout the journey, and lugging so much luggage just made everything worse."
She went on, "Since then, I’ve made sure to prepare so food every ti I take a long-distance bus."
Seeing the girl’s clear eyes and natural, composed expression, Qin Sisi’s doubts began to dissipate.
After considering for a mont, Qin Sisi thanked the girl and opened the packaging of the bread.
She carefully unzipped her black backpack on her lap, broke off a piece of bread, and tucked it in.
The girl was intrigued by Qin Sisi’s actions, stretched her neck to have a look, and saw a fluffy head peeking out from the black backpack.
"Wow ..." the girl exclaid in delight.
Qin Sisi quickly placed her index finger against her lips reminding the girl to be quiet.
The girl nodded her head rapidly, revealing an even brighter look in her eyes.
Ye You looked at the bread in front of him, twitched his nose, opened his mouth, and swallowed it.
Only then did Qin Sisi completely let her guard down, ripping off a larger piece of bread and stuffing it into the backpack.
About half of the bread was left, which was soon devoured by Qin Sisi.
With a warm tone, the girl said, "I still have more, let
give you another one!"
As she spoke, the girl reached for her school bag to open it, but Qin Sisi quickly stopped her, "No, no, one is enough. Save the rest for yourself."
But the girl didn’t listen. She opened her bag, took out two more pieces of bread, handed one to Qin Sisi and said, "I bought quite a few. I’m going to eat another one. I won’t be full eating just one, let alone two of you sharing one."
The girl’s sincerity was touching. Qin Sisi decided to accept her kindness graciously. After expressing her thanks, she and Ye You shared another piece of bread. Feeling finally sated, the gnawing hunger was finally suppressed.
After the exchange of the two pieces of bread, Qin Sisi harbored a positive impression of the girl by her side.
The girl was lively and cheerful. The two girls of similar age soon began conversing happily with each other.
As Qin Sisi had suspected, the girl, nad Mi Xian, was indeed a hobound college student returning from school in S City for the holidays.
Ti seed to pass quickly with a companion.
When the sun had finally moved from the east directly above them, C City, their destination, had arrived.
After getting off the bus, Qin Sisi and Mi Xian alighted together.
Upon inquiry, they found out that the rest of their journey was vastly different.
The place where Qin Sisi had to go was rather remote, requiring her to take another bus ride lasting approximately an hour.
anwhile, Mi Xian’s ho was at the outskirts of C City where the rural-urban border lay and could be directly reached by public transport.
At the station, the two girls reluctantly parted ways. The enthusiastic Mi Xian even left Qin Sisi her mobile number and encouraged her to visit if she had free ti after finishing her errands.
Qin Sisi carefully noted down the number, but she did not intend to use it.
An outgoing, simple, and innocent young girl’s personality clashed with her own that lurked in darkness, dealing with the supernatural — she knew they were not kindred spirits.
Besides, their eting was coincidental, why should she bother the girl?
After Mi Xian boarded her bus and pulled away from the station, Qin Sisi bought her ticket, purchased so snacks from the station, and boarded the bus that headed to Hope Elentary School in the mountains.
Qi Xiaojuan, the younger sister of Qi Xiaoxia, was working as a teacher in that school.
An hour’s journey was not too agonizing; the only issue was the bumpy road leading to the mountainous area.
The snacks that Qin Sisi bought were originally supposed to be eaten on the bus. However, seeing how bumpy the ride was, Qin Sisi decided against it.
She will end up motion sick and the food would probably fall to the ground, or even worse, get all over her face.
At the entrance to Hope Elentary School, Qin Sisi got off the bus, carrying her backpack.
Even though it was situated in the mountainous area, contrary to the abject conditions that are depicted on TV, it seed as if the place had probably received so financial aid from the governnt.
The two-story teaching building, with walls painted in white and pale green, seed quite recent. Behind the building, there was a playground.
Instead of entering imdiately, Qin Sisi found a secluded corner nearby and let Ye You out of her backpack.
Qin Sisi pointed at the not-so-distant entrance of Hope Elentary School and told Ye You, "We’re here."
"Alright," Ye You replied. He concentrated, drawing a charm on the forehead of Qi Xiaoxia’s ghost to protect her from sunlight, lightly waved his paw and let Qi Xiaoxia out.
Qi Xiaoxia’s figure gradually materialized. She took a deep breath, looked around, and asked in confusion, "Where am I? Where’s my sister?"
Qin Sisi replied, "Your sister is a teacher at this school. I will take you to see her, but she won’t be able to see you."
Qi Xiaoxia’s expression initially exhibited joy, but it was soon clouded with sadness. Human and ghost exist on different paths; she and her sister could never et each other again.
Holding Ye You, Qin Sisi headed towards the gate of Hope Elentary School, with Qi Xiaoxia’s ghost trailing behind.
After informing the old security guard that she was looking for Qi Xiaojuan, who he seed to be familiar with, and given Qin Sisi’s unthreatening appearance, he let Qin Sisi in without further question.
The security guard also kindly directed Qin Sisi to the location of the staff room, chuckling as he said, "Xiaojuan lives in the school premise itself. She should be in there."
After thanking the guard, Qin Sisi leisurely headed towards the staff room.
Once out of the guard’s sight, Ye You raised the Invisible Bubble, and spoke a few words to Qin Sisi.
Qin Sisi nodded subtly and turned to Qi Xiaoxia, "Qi Xiaojuan should be around here. You should try looking for her. I will follow at a short distance but won’t reveal myself. You have two hours."
"Thank you," Qi Xiaoxia nodded and walked forward, searching for her younger sister, one room at a ti.
Even after five years, she believed that she would recognize her sister instantly when she saw her.
Qi Xiaoxia’s anticipation grew with every step she took, thinking that she was soon to et her only blood relative in the world.
Yet even after searching through several rooms, Qi Xiaoxia could not find her sister. All the faces she saw bore no resemblance to her sister in the slightest.
Her heart began to thump nervously. Could it be that Qin Sisi has brought her to the wrong place? Or had her sister never been here at all?
Just then, the sound of children reciting their lessons emanated from a classroom ahead. The youthful voices clear, crisp, and lodious.
Qi Xiaoxia felt a stir in her heart and hurriedly walked towards the room.
