Chapter 307: Chapter 307 Midnight Ghost Crying_1
Mr. Ding had invited Boss Zheng and Qin Sisi to rid the house of the evil spirit. Now, as Qin Sisi volunteered to proceed, he and his wife were more than willing.
Just as they considered complying with Qin Sisi’s request, Ding Jiayuan gazed at them with sparkling eyes and excitedly proclaid first, "Are you going ghost hunting? That sounds fun, I want to go too."
Qin Sisi was taken aback. Fun? She hadn’t seen the brutality of fierce ghosts nor the sorrow of displaced spirits!
However, before she could object, Mr. Ding and Mrs. Ding had already sternly denied their daughter’s impulsive desire.
A child’s playfulness was permissible, but their safety was non-negotiable. It was a parental boundary.
Thus, Jia Yuan could only pout unhappily and watch as Sisi, carrying Ye You, headed toward the collapsible door leading to the landscape painting.
Just as Qin Sisi was opening the door, Mr. Ding suddenly spoke from behind her, "Master Qin, you will co back up once you’re done, right?"
Qin Sisi turned her head and looked at Mr. Ding, puzzled, before responding, "Of course."
"Oh, okay, that’s good," Mr. Ding replied awkwardly, clearly leaving sothing unsaid.
After a mont of thought, Qin Sisi understood Mr. Ding’s underlying concern.
He was implying what they should do if she didn’t co back up.
While believing in her own capabilities, Qin Sisi acknowledged that from Mr. Ding’s perspective, the worry was justifiable.
After considering for a mont, she said, "If I don’t return by dawn, you can co down and check. Boss Zheng can handle everything else."
Mr. Ding seed to be sowhat relieved, but, of course, he would prefer Qin Sisi to co up safely, for it would an that she had successfully expelled all the evil spirits within.
With a solemn face, Boss Zheng nodded in acknowledgnt, although deep down, he was silently praying for Qin Sisi.
After everything was clarified, Qin Sisi nodded to the others, then turned and entered the door.
Following Sisi’s instructions, Boss Zheng asked Mr. Ding to get a reclining chair for him to sleep on by the basent entrance, preventing anyone else from going in.
Qin Sisi eyed the long staircase leading to the basent. The light dimd with increasing depth, leaving the end shrouded in mystery.
She descended the stairs step by step, the soft echo of her footsteps reverberating through the still air, creating an illusion that she was alone in this space.
Upon reaching the large iron door leading to the basent, Qin Sisi held Ye You in one hand and a key in the other.
She had asked for the keys in advance from Mr. Ding. Although Ye You could easily pick the lock, to maintain discretion, Qin Sisi preferred not to expose his abilities in front of others.
Unlocking the iron door with the key, Qin Sisi pushed it open and entered the basent. It groaned lightly as it swung back and forth.
She pressed the switch for the electric light on the wall. The fluorescents casted crisp brightness over the gloomy basent. High wooden shelves on the other side cast stark shadows.
Once inside the basent, Qin Sisi tightly closed the door behind her, not wishing for any disruptions during the exorcism. Even with Boss Zheng guarding the doorway above, caution was necessary.
Carrying Ye You, Qin Sisi advanced further into the basent where a black marble pedestal edged with onyx again ca into view.
Now that they were alone, Sisi asked Ye You directly, "Do you sense sothing off about this platform?"
Ye You replied in a profound tone, "Most likely so."
Qin Sisi looked at the marble pedestal with a solemn gaze and stated, "Alright, we’ll wait here and see just what kind of ghost appears."
Ye You glanced at her approvingly. She was becoming increasingly composed and confident.
However, Sisi realized a problem - it wasn’t that late yet, and it would be quite a while till midnight, the peak of the Yin energy. Was she supposed to just stand next to the platform waiting?
A bit frustrated, she had forgotten that the basent had nothing but these wooden shelves and the platform. There was not even a place to sit. She ought to have brought a stool down beforehand.
If Ye You suspected the platform, even if she wasn’t afraid, she would decidedly not sit on it.
The floor, however, was too damp and cold for prolonged sitting.
With a sigh of resignation, Qin Sisi resolved to go upstairs and bring down a chair.
Thus, she said to Ye You, "Wait here for ; I’ll go get a chair."
Ye You blinked and spoke in a loud voice, "No need."
Having said so, he raised one of his claws and drew a semicircle in the air above their heads. Suddenly, a translucent silver sphere appeared.
The silver sphere encased Qin Sisi and Ye You and slowly started floating, coming to rest about a ter above the ground - its height now similar to that of the marble platform.
Looking at Qin Sisi, a hint of tenderness glimring in his eyes, Ye You said quietly, "Alright, lie down and rest."
Qin Sisi gave a small smile and gingerly lay down. Beneath her was a soft cushioning as if she was lying on a plush layer of cotton, very comfortable indeed.
Qin Sisi sighed with satisfaction and told Ye You, "You should rest too."
Ye You shook his head slightly and then nodded, nestling next to Sisi.
Qin Sisi, resting against Ye You’s small and soft body, gradually drifted to sleep.
After Qin Sisi fell asleep, Ye You quietly opened his eyes. His alert ears twitched slightly, keeping a cautious watch over their surroundings.
Even though he was confident about dealing with the ghost, he was habitually cautious until everything beca clear.
He hadn’t revealed this earlier, fearing that if he stayed awake, Sisi wouldn’t want to sleep.
The night gradually deepened, and the Yin energy in the air intensified.
The basent was silent, with only the sounds of Sisi’s light breathing.
Inside the translucent silver sphere, Ye You sat beside Sisi. His pair of purple eyes watched the surroundings vigilantly - a clear and cold watchtower.
Before any form appeared, they heard a faint sobbing.
Ye You’s vigilance heightened, and he swiftly woke Qin Sisi.
Rubbing her eyes, Sisi heard the ghostly crying. Her sleepiness was abruptly erased as she focused and joined Ye You in observing the circumstances.
After a mont, white smoke began rising from the marble platform, and the crying beca clearer.
As the white mist gradually dispersed, a slender figure appeared on the platform.
A female figure, dressed in a white top and black trousers, was curled up on top of the marble platform. With her knees drawn up to her chest, she hid her face with both hands, her slender shoulders trembling lightly, emanating sorrowful sounds that spoke of utter heartbreak.
