Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Mobile Phone Lost Event_1

Seeing Ye You’s cold deanor towards Lin Shan, Qin Sisi felt she had to diate on his behalf. She took the jam bread from Lin Shan’s hands and said, "He’s been on a train for over ten hours, he’s probably tired. I’ll get him to eat sothing later."

"Oh, alright then." Lin Shan didn’t overthink it and handed the bread to Qin Sisi before sitting down on the sofa.

After exchanging a few words about their respective experiences, Lin Shan introduced Qin Sisi to Chen Lan. After all, Qin Sisi’s main purpose of this visit was to help Chen Lan resolve a problem.

Chen Lan was a college classmate of Lin Shan’s and was rather quiet by nature. Her hotown was in N city, albeit in a rural county close by.

In her senior year, Chen Lan obeyed her family’s advice and obtained a teaching certificate. After graduation, she returned to her hotown to teach.

Qin Sisi hadn’t been chatting with Lin Shan for long when they heard the sound of the door opening. Both of them raised their heads to look towards the entrance. The door was pushed open to reveal a young woman with long hair draped over her shoulders and glasses on her nose.

"Chen Lan’s back!" Lin Shan greeted her and, pulling Qin Sisi, rose from the sofa to et her.

"Sisi, let

introduce you. This is Chen Lan." Lin Shan pointed at the woman who had just entered.

Then she turned to Chen Lan and said, "Chen Lan, this is Qin Sisi, the one I’ve told you about."

Chen Lan eagerly shook hands with Qin Sisi and warmly said, "Hello Sisi, I’ve heard a lot about you from Lin Shan."

"Hello." Qin Sisi responded politely and took the opportunity to study Chen Lan.

Chen Lan was dressed in a light blue long coat and beige linen trousers. The colors were simply neat. She wore a pair of white flats on her feet.

While Chen Lan’s appearance couldn’t be considered gorgeous, she carried herself with grace. Her slender figure and elegant speech gave her the dignified deanor of a teacher.

With Qin Sisi and Chen Lan seated on the sofa, Lin Shan said, "You two chat away, I’ll prepare dinner."

Lin Shan knew that Chen Lan needed Qin Sisi’s help. Even though she was aware of Chen Lan’s troubles, Lin Shan felt sowhat helpless. Remaining there wouldn’t be of much use. It was better to prepare a al for them.

After Lin Shan announced her decision, she got up and went to the kitchen. Qin Sisi followed her retreating figure with her eyes, then shifted her attention to Chen Lan, gently saying, "Chen Lan, I’m not sure if I can help you, but I’m willing to try."

Chen Lan nodded her head, forcing a smile. "I’m already grateful that you’re willing to help. I raised this issue with my family, but they all said it was because of my timid personality that I was having these nightmares... But I know that’s not the case."

Earlier, Qin Sisi had only given Chen Lan a quick once-over. Now that they were seated closer, she took the opportunity to further observe Chen Lan.

Chen Lan looked sowhat pale, with distinct dark circles under her eyes and her lips were sallow. Indeed, she did appear similar to Xie Kexin from the S City University of Science and Technology, who had fallen unconscious a few days earlier.

Furthermore, Chen Lan spoke in a listless tone, her expression conveying an overall sense of exhaustion. According to Ye You, this was a sign of her waning Yang energy.

While Qin Sisi was scrutinizing Chen Lan, Ye You did his own observation unseen, turning his focus to Chen Lan.

A mont later, Ye You owed a few tis and inford Qin Sisi of his judgent: "There’s a dark energy that lingers around her temples. This is indicative of a ghost clinging to her. However, this ghost doesn’t seem to harbour any ill intentions, so she just appears a bit weak, but her body is fine."

Qin Sisi silently kept Ye You’s words in mind and said to Chen Lan, "Why don’t you share the details with ?"

Chen Lan nodded and began narrating the events from the beginning.

Chen Lan was a teacher at a middle school in N city, presently responsible for teaching Mathematics to two classes of ninth graders.

Two months ago, Chen Lan’s class happened to be the last one of the day. After the class, it was ti for the students to go ho.

Once the bell rang, Chen Lan announced the end of the class and started packing up her teaching materials. The students also started packing their bags, ready to head ho.

Just then, a girl nad Fang Yiyi rushed to the podium, anxiously telling Chen Lan, "Teacher Chen, I’ve lost my cell phone."

Without waiting for Chen Lan to respond, Fang Yiyi saw a classmate packing their bag to leave the classroom and imdiately ran to the door, announcing loudly, "Nobody leaves! Whoever leaves is the thief who took my phone!"

The students ready to leave stood still, exchanging glances. They wanted to leave ASAP, but they were scared of being identified as the thief.

Seeing as things were getting serious, Chen Lan instructed the standing students to sit back down, and then shut both the front and back doors. Only then turned to Fang Yiyi and asked, "Are you sure you brought your phone to school?"

Fang Yiyi nodded her head with conviction, "Yes, I’m sure. I checked it during the break in the first period."

Thus, Chen Lan called the grade head to inform them of the situation and requested them to co over as soon as possible.

However, the grade head ntioned that they were occupied and wouldn’t be able to return for another half an hour. They asked Chen Lan to handle it for the ti being.

Nodding reluctantly, Chen Lan turned to Fang Yiyi, "Your grade head will be back in half an hour. Can we continue the search tomorrow?"

Fang Yiyi was unwilling to wait and protested through her tears, "That won’t work! As soon as school’s over, the thief will surely take the phone away. How will we find it tomorrow?"

Chen Lan gave it so thought and admitted she was right, however it was unrealistic to keep the entire class waiting.

They could not resort to searching everyone’s book bags either; the students were all assertive and would perceive the action as an invasion of their privacy rights.

Lost on what to do next, one of the students suggested, "Can’t we just call the number and find out where it is?"

That suggestion was received well by most students, though so raised the possibility that the phone might be switched off.

However, Fang Yiyi lit up and announced, "I rember now, my phone was switched off but I had set it to turn on automatically. It should be on by now since it’s ti for school to be over."

Since Fang Yiyi affird, Chen Lan went with it. "Alright, let’s give it a try."

If they didn’t hear the ringing phone, all the students would be eliminated from suspicion and could go ho.

If it was discovered with a certain student, that student would be kept back while everyone else could leave. That would be more practical than keeping the entire class waiting.

And so, Chen Lan took out her mobile phone and dialed the number Fang Yiyi had provided.

All the students were seated quietly in their places with all eyes darting around, so concerned, so indifferent, so keen, so gleeful.

Suddenly, a lodious ringtone echoed through the room.

"That’s my ringtone!" Fang Yiyi exclaid excitedly.

Then, all of the students’ gazes focused on a single pink backpack. A girl nad Zhou Zing, completely pale, stared blankly ahead.
