Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Fulfilling the Request_1
There were quite a few changes in the antiques and jade displayed in the shop, indicating that business at Ju Ya Zhai had been good recently.
However, in the elegant room at the back, the ambiance was still nostalgically tranquil. On the wall, the Four Gentleman Picture seed to hint at living life at a leisurely pace.
Boss Zheng requested Qin Sisi to take a seat and poured her a cup of tea.
The deep green tea leaves swirled gently, gradually subsiding, filling the room with a delicate fragrance.
With a beaming smile, Boss Zheng asked, "It has been so ti, how have you been getting on, miss?"
Sisi responded with a smile, "I’m doing well. Thank you for your concern, Boss Zheng."
Lingering over his words for a mont, Boss Zheng replied, "Sisi, we could consider one another as friends forged in adversity. How about referring to
as Uncle Zheng, if you do not mind?"
Sisi paused, then, despite the unexpectedness of the proposition, she rembered Boss Zheng’s care and trust towards her in the past. A warmth spread through her heart, and she eventually called him, "Uncle Zheng."
Boss Zheng, satisfied with Sisi’s docility, nodded and said, "Good. Now that you have addressed
as uncle, I should reciprocate. How about this, I will fulfill any request you may have today."
Sisi looked at Boss Zheng in surprise. "How did Uncle Zheng know I had a request?"
Boss Zheng laughed and replied, "You were gone for quite so ti, and now you are here unexpectedly. I’m assuming you didn’t make this visit for nothing!"
Sisi blushed a bit—she did indeed co to Ju Ya Zhai for business most of the ti, not particularly visiting Boss Zheng. It did feel a bit embarrassing now that she thought about it.
Noticing her bashfulness, Boss Zheng stopped teasing and gently said, "it’s alright. No need for formalities. Just tell
directly if you need anything."
Seeing Boss Zheng’s straightforwardness, Sisi decided not to keep up the pretense and took the Bronze Bagua Mirror and the House-guarding Treasure Sword from Ye You’s hand, who was sitting next to her.
Sisi had entered empty-handed but now, quite mysteriously, she held two considerably large items in her hand. Although surprised, Boss Zheng couldn’t help but admire the incredible figure behind Sisi.
Ignorant of the surprise in Boss Zheng’s eyes, Sisi calmly placed both the objects on the Redwood Eight Immortals Table and told him, "Uncle Zheng, I wish to sell these items."
She didn’t explicitly ntion that these were spiritual artifacts with potent energy. However, she was confident that Boss Zheng would be able to discern their value.
Sure enough, after examining the items, Boss Zheng’s eyes sparkled, and he exclaid, "Sisi, these may not be the best of the best, but they are indeed precious rarities!"
Sisi smiled and nodded, saying, "Uncle Zheng, you have a good eye."
Boss Zheng tapped his finger on the table and hesitated, "Sisi, do you have a price in mind?"
Sisi hesitated too. The artefacts’ values, as Ye You had disclosed earlier, were estimated to be around a hundred thousand each, totaling two hundred thousand together.
However, rembering Zheng’s kind help, Sisi decided to give him so discount. She responded, "Since Uncle Zheng will fulfill a request, let’s have you price them."
Boss Zheng looked at Sisi aningfully, asking deliberately, "I decide the price? You would agree to whatever I suggest?"
Sisi’s lips curled into a smile as she calmly replied, "I trust Uncle Zheng."
On one hand, she sincerely trusted Boss Zheng, and on the other hand, she knew that Boss Zheng would be mindful of the outstanding mastermind behind Sisi and wouldn’t undercut the price too much.
Seeing the faith Sisi put in him, Zheng felt contented. He took a few sips from his tea cup, then asked solemnly, "Sisi, I only have one question to ask – where did you get these items?"
Sisi was taken aback, speechless. No matter how terrible their past owners were, these items were essentially stolen by her.
Observing the look on Sisi’s face, Zheng understood and responded, "Okay, I see. If sourcing is tricky, we’ll need to sell them out of town, which may an less profit."
Sisi thought for a bit before responding, "Uncle Zheng, while origins of these items might be hard to trace, I can assure you that no one will co after us."
The Bronze Bagua Mirror belonged to the company, which was now a ss. No one would care about a deceased general manager’s belongings.
And regarding the treasure sword, Mrs. Gu didn’t even care to leave it dumped in the basent, which indicated her indifference towards it. It was most likely hung up at the insistence of Gu Liang.
Seeing Sisi’s earnest expression, Zheng hesitated before eventually agreeing, "Alright, I believe you. However, I must send them out of town; this would also require paying a middleman’s fee. So, the best price I can offer is one hundred and eighty thousand for both the items."
One hundred and eighty thousand—this was twenty thousand short of what Ye You estimated.
Still, Sisi understood that Zheng’s reasoning was valid since he had to manage items with untraceable origins, thereby affecting their price.
So, Sisi agreed, "Alright, whatever Uncle Zheng says."
Zheng already knew how precise Sisi was when deciding prices, especially from their previous business transaction when she sold a string of Buddha Beads.
This ti though, it was to his advantage to negotiate the price down a bit, and that made him apprehensive. He worried that this might cast so doubt on his integrity in Sisi’s mind.
To his delight, Sisi agreed quite readily. Zheng couldn’t help but laugh, "Impressive! Sisi, you’re young yet so bold and intelligent. You’ll definitely achieve great things!"
Sisi blushed at the complint, mumbling modestly, "Uncle Zheng is exaggerating. I’m not capable of achieving great things."
As she spoke, she turned to look at Ye You, curious about his reaction to Zheng’s praises.
Once he caught Sisi’s eyes, Ye You blinked gently in her direction and let out a faint "ow ow," which could be interpreted as "Great minds think alike."
Being in front of others, Sisi couldn’t communicate openly with Ye You. She rely tightened her lips, her heart filled with a sweet warmth.
Zheng had worked with Sisi before, and on seeing Sisi agreeing to the price, he imdiately asked, "About the money, shall we follow the precedent?"
In the past, Sisi always requested a bank transfer.
Considering for a while, Sisi replied, "Yes, it will be as before."
Carrying too much cash always posed a security risk, hence a bank transfer was more reliable.
Zheng nodded and smiled. He imdiately started the money transfer process to Sisi.
Soon, Sisi received a text ssage from the bank regarding the transaction.
Seeing that long string of numbers, Sisi let out a sigh of relief. Now, she could finally pay back Ning Hao.
Having a debt weighing on her mind was always discomforting.
