Chapter 168: Chapter 168: The Corpse Without a Face_1
The scene within the room did not frighten Qin Sisi too much. The corpses had already been removed, leaving behind countless sars and splatters of blood of various sizes scattered throughout the room, on the floor, the bedsheet, the walls - it was everywhere, painting a ghastly picture of the murder scene.
A week had passed, and the bloodstains had started to darken, bringing about a gloomy atmosphere.
The scene was grueso and eerie, just as Ning Hao had described.
Apart from that, there were no other horrifying scenes.
Qin Sisi closed her eyes slightly, attentively sensing the minimal changes in air temperature. She wasn’t sure if it was her weak spiritual power, if too much ti had passed, or if this case simply had nothing to do with ghosts. In the end, Qin Sisi didn’t perceive any trace of chilling ghostly presence.
Ning Hao had thought that Qin Sisi would be scared and made preparations to console her right away. Seeing her relatively calm deanor, he realized he had overthought. He admired Qin Sisi’s bravery but also felt sowhat disappointed.
Turning around, Qin Sisi asked, "The corpse has been removed, correct?"
Ning Hao nodded and replied, "Yes, after recording the scene, we had to remove the corpse and hand over to the forensic for further examination and assessnt."
Ye You, in Qin Sisi’s arms, owed softly. She turned to Ning Hao, asking further, "Was there anything peculiar about the bodies?"
Ning Hao looked at Qin Sisi in astonishnt, then replied, "Yes, they were unique indeed. The faces of both bodies had been slashed off and thrown in the trash can. The cause of death was excessive blood loss."
Although she had surmised that the bodies would have peculiar traits due to Ye You’s query, Qin Sisi still shivered and felt a wave of nausea in her stomach as she was hit by a vivid ntal image of the gory scene when Ning Hao described it.
Seeing Qin Sisi’s pallid face, Ning Hao considerately suggested, "Let’s go outside to talk."
Qin Sisi nodded in agreent and followed him to the office outside.
Ning Hao continued to narrate, "The murder weapon was found, tossed onto the floor within the room. It was an extrely sharp costic knife."
Contemplating, Qin Sisi suggested, "Given the brutal thod, this must be a revenge murder, right?"
Ning Hao agreed, "I also believe so, but if the murderer ca here, they would have left so trace of their presence, yet we’ve found no evidence of the third person having been here, even after a thorough search."
Qin Sisi said hesitantly, "But, how could their faces have been slashed off if there was no other murderer?"
Even if one person from amongst the couple wanted to hurt the other, what about them also being slaughtered and having their face cut off?
Ning Hao stated solemnly, "Two possibilities exist: either they mutilated their own faces, or they slashed each other’s. According to the forensic assessnt, the likelihood of them inflicting this on each other is higher."
Although Ning Hao’s hypothesis sounded absurd, it was the outco of a thoughtful analysis.
Feeling a sudden chill envelop her, Qin Sisi muttered, "How could this be?"
Ning Hao said with slight reluctance, "That’s exactly it. The case is baffling, extraordinary and strange, which is why I suspect sothing unusual and eerie."
Now, Qin Sisi essentially understood Ning Hao’s sentints. Indeed, it was inconceivable. How could they manage to slash each other?
Did they take turns? After one person slashed the other’s face, did the other retaliate similarly? Or did one person slash both their faces, including their own?
No matter which scenario, they were all out of the ordinary. No wonder Ning Hao suspected supernatural involvent.
However, Qin Sisi was also clueless as she did not sense any ghostly chilling presence. So, she proceeded to pretend to pet Ye You’s fur, gently pinching his back as if asking for his help.
Ye You blinked and owed softly a few tis.
A sense of relief washed over Qin Sisi. She turned to Ning Hao, "I want to see the two bodies."
Ning Hao hesitated before replying, "That would be possible, but the scene is quite bloody. I’m afraid it might frighten you."
Qin Sisi insisted, "I know it’s terrifying, but I have to see them in person to co to the final conclusion."
"Alright, I’ll take you there." Ning Hao agreed to Qin Sisi’s request, leading her down the stairs, temporarily leaving the scene of cri - the beauty salon.
As they left the building, warm sunlight fell upon them from overhead. Ning Hao realized it was almost noon.
After a brief thought, Ning Hao suggested to Qin Sisi, "How about we go for lunch first?"
Anxious, Qin Sisi proposed, "We could also go for lunch after seeing the bodies."
With a complex expression, Ning Hao shook his head saying, "After seeing them, I’m afraid you won’t be able to eat anything."
"Ah?" Qin Sisi looked surprised at first but then understood Ning Hao’s point.
Ning Hao laughed at himself, admitting, "In fact, the first ti I saw a corpse, I couldn’t eat anything for several days."
Could it really be that severe? Qin Sisi blinked in doubt. She had seen Lin Ying’s corpse just a few days ago after her accident. But maybe she hadn’t felt much because she was more focused on the ghost.
As Qin Sisi hesitated, Ye You owed softly, suggesting that she should eat first.
Only then did Qin Sisi agree, "Alright, let’s eat first then."
Ning Hao nodded with a smile, his eyes falling on Ye You once again. Qin Sisi had just shown a hint of hesitation, but as soon as the cat owed, she imdiately agreed. Was it just a coincidence?
Ning Hao snapped out of his thoughts, got into the car with Qin Sisi, and caring asked, "What do you feel like eating?"
Qin Sisi replied nonchalantly, "Anything will do, I’m not a picky eater."
Ning Hao suggested, "What about McDonald’s? It seems that girls quite enjoy Western fast food."
Indifferent as ever, Qin Sisi replied, "Sure, do you like it?"
Ning Hao shrugged his shoulders, "I prefer Chinese food more. You know, noodles, rice, that sort of thing."
Qin Sisi crisply stated, "Then let’s have rice. I also find Chinese als more satisfying."
"Alright." Ning Hao agreed with a hearty laugh, stepping on the accelerator, driving the car steadily forward.
Ye You looked up at Qin Sisi, silently morizing every word she spoke.
They arrived at a small eatery, where they ordered two stir-fried dishes and two bowls of rice, enjoying their al.
Qin Sisi asked for a plastic bag from the eatery owner and put so rice and stir-fry in it for Ye You.
Ye You lowered his head and began to eat with gusto. As Qin Sisi watched his gluttonous display, a warm smile unconsciously crept onto her face.
Observing Qin Sisi’s affectionate and ticulous care for the black cat, Ning Hao’s gaze turned sowhat gloomy.
