Chapter 1424: Chapter 1424: Heavenly Ice Crystal
Upon hearing the Snow Demon Leader’s warning, Ye You’s eyes flickered for a mont. He turned his head to glance at Qin Sisi, nodded slightly, and replied, "Thank you, Leader, for the reminder."
After safely storing the map gifted by the Snow Demon Leader, Ye You led Qin Sisi out of the cave, where they saw the Nine-Colored Deer and Snow-scaled White Horse standing at the cave’s entrance.
Although this was their ho, the tribespeople resented them for angering the Ice Snow Fairy, implicating the entire tribe, and glared at them with hostility.
Ye You pondered for a mont, then turned to the Snow Demon Leader nearby and said, "Leader, these two once helped . I hope they can settle down in the Snow Demon Valley. We are all part of the Snow Demon Tribe; we should take care of each other."
The Snow Demon Leader glanced at the Nine-Colored Deer and Snow-scaled White Horse. The Nine-Colored Deer was one thing, but the Snow-scaled White Horse had, with the help of the Ice Snow Fairy in recent years, advanced its magic power to a formidable level. If it returned to the Snow Demon Valley, the tribe would gain another magic expert.
Moreover, if Ye You indeed brought back a large number of trees to make many torches for the Snow Demon Tribe, he would be considered their great benefactor. Since he had asked for this favor, so respect had to be given.
Thus, the Snow Demon Leader replied, "Sage Ruler Ye You has been a great benefactor to the Snow Demon Tribe. Since you have spoken, we will naturally make an exception."
The Snow Demon Leader’s words were also aningful: if Ye You could bring back trees to make torches, he would be the tribe’s great benefactor. By pleading for the Nine-Colored Deer and Snow-scaled White Horse, everyone would naturally appreciate his kindness.
However, if Ye You went and didn’t return, the two Snow Demons who brought disaster to the tribe might not fare well.
Ye You smiled indifferently and turned to leave. He didn’t care how the Nine-Colored Deer and Snow-scaled White Horse lived. His true intention was to help the Snow Demon Tribe find trees. At least for the ti being, they should be safe.
"Hold on," the Snow Demon Leader suddenly called out to Ye You.
Ye You turned around, "Leader, do you have any further instructions?"
The Snow Demon Leader waved his hand and said, "No, no, I just feel very grateful for Sage Ruler Ye You’s kindness and goodwill. Our Snow Demon Tribe is situated in this harsh land with nothing valuable, only a piece of Heavenly Ice Jade. Every thousand years, the Heavenly Ice Jade condenses a Heavenly Ice Crystal. The Heavenly Ice Crystal has a magical effect on Ice Magic. If Sage Ruler Ye You helps the Snow Demon Tribe through this disaster, I will gift you the newly ford Heavenly Ice Crystal."
Ye You’s eyes lit up. Sothing so cherished by the Snow Demon Leader must be extraordinary. A thousand years to form one—indeed, it sounded rare. What they needed most now was to enhance Ice Magic. With stronger Ice Magic, they’d have more power to withstand the harsh environnt of the Extre North Ice Field.
He nodded and said, "Then I thank you, Leader. I’ll take my leave now."
With that, Ye You turned and walked resolutely towards the exit of the Snow Demon Valley.
The Nine-Colored Deer stood by the cave entrance, gazing wistfully at Ye You’s receding figure, a hint of loss in its eyes.
Unable to bear it, the Snow-scaled White Horse mockingly said, "He’s gone far, and you still haven’t seen enough?"
The Nine-Colored Deer jumped up as if stepped on its tail, angrily scolding, "Are you crazy? He’s our benefactor. His journey to the ice lake is fraught with danger. Can’t I be worried?"
The Snow-scaled White Horse was not to be outdone, retorting, "Is that worry? Your eyes were about to pop out."
"You...you’re crazy!" The Nine-Colored Deer turned angrily to leave, the Snow-scaled White Horse’s face darkened, almost able to drip water.
The Snow Demon Leader watched this scene with amusent and, after thinking it over, had his people inform the tribe that Sage Ruler Ye You intended to help the Snow Demon Tribe and that everyone should temporarily be more courteous to the Nine-Colored Deer and Snow-scaled White Horse.
Ye You and Qin Sisi left the Snow Demon Valley and, following the directions on the map, trudged towards the ice lake.
The journey was still plagued by a relentless snowstorm. The land was frozen for miles, and snow fell endlessly, creating a vast expanse of white.
However, their ntal state was no longer filled with initial confusion and worry. Everything was gradually becoming clear—they found the Ice Snow Fairy, the Nine-Colored Deer, the Snow-scaled White Horse, and even the Snow Demon Tribe.
As long as they followed the plan step by step, what they hoped for would slowly approach them.
After more than ten days of travel, they finally saw the outline of the ice lake from afar.
Amid the vast whiteness, the lake’s blue-green water was crystal clear, mirror-flat, like a beautiful jade embedded in the icy land.
How could such a never-frozen lake form in such a cold environnt?
Qin Sisi analyzed from the perspective of modern science that there must be so geothermal energy hidden deep in the earth beneath the lake. Tiny channels connect this geothermal energy to the lake, transferring heat to resist the surrounding cold and keep the lake ever rippling.
Ye You gradually approached the ice lake, standing by its bank, observing his exceptionally clear reflection in the water. The lake’s presence significantly reduced the snowstorm here, and the air was not as bone-chillingly cold.
Qin Sisi also jumped out of his clothing, walked on the snowy shore, and admired her reflection in the clear lake.
Looking at the small, white cat reflection in the water, she found it amusing yet felt a bit helpless.
Being a cat had its fun parts, but if given a choice, she would prefer to be human.
She cautiously dipped a paw into the lake, quickly pulling it back. The ice lake was true to its na; even if its water didn’t freeze, its temperature was still very low. With the touch, it felt like that part of her body was about to freeze, reminding Qin Sisi of the Qinbing River near the Heavenly Magic God’s Castle.
Ye You looked toward the ice lake’s opposite shore and indeed saw a vast area of yellow-green fir forest.
The fir tree’s crown ford a spire shape, similar to pine trees, but much taller. Its leaves were yellower than pine trees, probably due to less sunlight.
"Let’s go over," Ye You called to the daydreaming Qin Sisi staring at the lake.
"Okay." Qin Sisi responded, leaping onto Ye You’s shoulder.
Ye You unleashed his magic power, manifesting magic wings behind him. The snowstorm was milder here, allowing him to fly; flying over would be much quicker than walking the long way around.
In just a few minutes, Ye You landed with Qin Sisi on the opposite shore of the ice lake, near the yellow-green fir forest.
Suddenly, a few heart-stopping roars echoed from nearby, the drifting snowflakes fell chaotically, and Ye You and Qin Sisi felt the ground beneath them shake slightly.
