Chapter 134: Chapter 134 Blue and White Porcelain Next to the Pillow_1
Having been plagued all night, Wu Cheng longed to get a good sleep, but he had his shop’s business on his mind. He had just successfully reclaid the piece of Blue and White Porcelain from Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng the day before, so he had a lot on his plate and couldn’t afford to lie in bed to catch up on sleep.
Wu Cheng struggled to get up, intending to open his shop for business, but while tidying up his bed, he found sothing near his pillow. He was taken aback and imdiately felt a chill run through his body.
He hadn’t noticed it in the dim light last night, but now he could clearly see that what was lying next to his pillow was the piece of Blue and White Porcelain he had demanded back from Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng.
But he distinctly rembered having put that piece of Blue and White Porcelain in his shop, safely locked inside a safe. How could it have ended up next to his pillow?
Wu Cheng picked up the Blue and White Porcelain shakily and examined it closely for a while. Of course, he couldn’t find anything unusual about it.
Suddenly, he rembered what Qin Sisi had ntioned yesterday—that he possessed an excess of Yang energy and a deficit of righteousness, and keeping that piece of Blue and White Porcelain close to him could be harmful rather than beneficial.
Could his nightmare last night have been related to this piece of Blue and White Porcelain?
No, no, no... Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng had joined forces to deceive him. They had reluctantly returned the Blue and White Porcelain under pressure from the police, but they certainly did not take it well and thus fabricated a lie to dupe him. He certainly couldn’t be fooled again.
As for the Blue and White Porcelain inexplicably appearing next to his pillow, he probably just got it wrong. Perhaps it was due to his excitent yesterday, that he brought it ho in a daze and then forgot about it.
It must be so, right? Let’s just assu it is.
Wu Cheng gritted his teeth, purposely ignoring the doubts that plagued the situation. He quickly tucked the porcelain away and headed out to open his antique store in the market after tidying up.
Wu Cheng rembered that he had promised to treat the friends who helped him get back the Blue and White Porcelain to a al. However, he was feeling rather groggy from his sleepless night. He made calls, one after the other, to his friends saying he was feeling unwell, apologized to them, and promised that he would invite everyone to sit down for a al after he had recovered in a few days.
His friends courteously said it didn’t matter and that they were just doing their duty as friends—no need for a al. However, so felt a bit slighted in private, for they saw it as quite a let-down: you got the treasure, the wealth, but not even the slightest benefit for us, plus reneging on the promised al. It felt like pulling up the ladder after achieving one’s objective.
Wu Cheng was completely oblivious to the inner thoughts of his friends. He sat behind the counter, carefully retracing the specific events of the day and night. Regardless of whether what Qin Sisi had said was true or false, he would definitely not give the Blue and White Porcelain to them again.
Given his poor sleep the previous night, Wu Cheng was feeling particularly drained. Luckily, business was slow that day. As the sun began to set, Wu Cheng decided to close up shop early and drive back to his ho in the East District.
In order to oversee the business, Wu Cheng took up residence in a small rented house near the antique market, while his wife stayed at their ho in the East District with their child.
Fearing a recurrence of the previous night’s events, Wu Cheng decided to spend the night at his wife’s place. Before leaving, Wu Cheng carefully packed the Blue and White Porcelain back in its box and put it inside the safe. He made sure to double-check the combination lock.
His wife was thrilled to see his face and cooked extra dishes to celebrate his unexpected visit ho. The three of them ate and chatted together, full of happiness.
After their child fell asleep, Wu Cheng and his wife retired to the master bedroom. As soon as he closed his eyes, he didn’t see any horrifying, bloody scenes like yesterday.
Wu Cheng let out a sigh of relief. It indeed appeared that he was just hallucinating due to all the exhaustion.
Wu Cheng laughed mockingly at himself and, snuggling his wife, he fell into a deep sleep.
As the night deepened, and both the hour and minute hands pointed at twelve, a small shadow silently entered Wu Cheng’s bedroom.
A few minutes later, "Ahhh!"
Wu Cheng let out a shriek and sat up abruptly, trembling like a leaf.
His wife was terrified. Her quick reaction was to switch on the side lamp and sit up. She saw Wu Cheng wet with cold sweat, pale as a ghost. Worried, she asked, "What’s wrong?"
Panting, Wu Cheng answered, "A black tiger... a black tiger... it has co back..."
His wife was terrified. She looked around, but didn’t notice anything unusual. Her gentle hand rubbed his back and she tried to reassure him that he was only having a nightmare.
"A nightmare? Right, it’s a dream, it isn’t real."
Wu Cheng nodded in a daze, as he reached out to grab a tissue from the nightstand to wipe his sweat.
The mont his gaze fell, the color drained from his face. He let out a panicked yell and quickly scrambled off the bed, hiding behind his wife.
"What’s happened now?" His wife was getting utterly perplexed with his sudden bouts of terror.
Trembling, Wu Cheng pointed at the area near the pillow and stuttered, "How did that... end up there? I specifically left it at the shop; I had locked it in the safe."
His wife gave him a puzzled look and glanced towards the pillow, where a fresh and elegant piece of Blue and White Porcelain lay idly next to Wu Cheng’s pillow.
She picked up the Blue and White Porcelain and scrutinized it, then, intrigued, she asked Wu Cheng, "Do you an this?"
Wu Cheng retreated continuously, muttering incessantly, "Why is it here? Why is it here?"
He wasn’t particularly brave, and the terrifying nightmares from the previous night had already exhausted him. He had managed to console himself by attributing it to his poor mory.
However, this ti, he vividly rembered where he had kept the Blue and White Porcelain, and yet, just like the day before, it ended up next to his pillow. Wu Cheng had no choice but to admit that sothing was off with the porcelain.
His wife, clueless about what was happening, saw how scared Wu Cheng was and gently consoled him, "Maybe you rembered it wrong."
"No, I didn’t! I rember it clearly!"
Wu Cheng snapped at his wife, on the brink of an emotional breakdown. He seized the Blue and White Porcelain from her and threw it onto the floor recklessly.
Unseen in the shadows, Ye You’s paw gently lifted, and an invisible dark light flew towards the Blue and White Porcelain, forming a protective cushion around it.
The Blue and White Porcelain fell heavily onto the hard floor with a ’ding’ sound before rolling around a few tis. Surprisingly, it remained intact, without a scratch.
Terrified, Wu Cheng rushed over to pick up the porcelain and threw it onto the floor again with all his might.
Yet, just like before, the Blue and White Porcelain remained complete and smooth despite the impact.
Porcelain is inherently fragile and doesn’t do well under stress. However, this piece of Blue and White Porcelain survived a brutal fall without a dent. Did it have so mysterious traits?
