Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Ning Hao’s Concern_1
Facing Ning Hao’s kindness, Qin Sisi quickly clarified, "No, no, no, the real estate agent didn’t deceive . They told
about this situation."
Ning Hao frowned and continued, "It’s not just that incident. Everyone says that in that house..."
Ning Hao didn’t finish his sentence. As a law enforcent officer, he was sowhat hesitant to say the word "haunted," and moreover, he didn’t believe in it at all.
Qin Sisi chuckled casually, "You’re talking about the house being haunted, right?"
Ning Hao stared at Qin Sisi in surprise, "You knew? And you still dared to rent it?"
Qin Sisi blinked, looking straight at Ning Hao, "Do you believe in ghosts?"
Ning Hao hesitated for a mont, then responded: "I don’t."
This answer was exactly what Qin Sisi had expected. She continued in the sa vein, "Sa with , I also don’t."
"But..." Ning Hao stared blankly into Qin Sisi’s clear eyes, not quite sure what to say. He decided to change the topic, "When did you move in?"
"Yesterday." Qin Sisi replied calmly, as if she didn’t care that the house was supposedly haunted.
"Yesterday?" Ning Hao hesitated before asking: "Did anything strange happen last night?"
Of course, sothing had happened, but Qin Sisi would never admit that in front of Ning Hao.
She tilted her head, as if trying to recall, then shook her head slowly, "Nothing. I was a bit tired after cleaning yesterday, slept until broad daylight. I didn’t notice anything strange."
Ning Hao, looking at Qin Sisi’s calm face, gradually eased his furrowed brows, laughing out, "I see, perhaps I was just being paranoid then. But still, you’ve got a pretty big nerve."
As Ning Hao spoke, admiration flashed in his eyes. Even his female colleagues at work, although they were also cops, many were not so brave.
"Really?" Qin Sisi gave an uneasy laugh, responding casually.
Was she really that brave? Qin Sisi thought about it. Well, maybe not really. At first, she was terrified too. But, seeing more and more ghosts, she had gotten used to it. Moreover, with Ye You by her side, she felt rather fearless.
Just then, Ning Hao’s cell phone rang. He shot Qin Sisi an apologetic smile, then answered, "Hello, Grandma, I’ve entered the neighborhood."
Ning Hao’s voice, which had been bright, was now soft and gentle.
Qin Sisi wanted to leave, but thought it would be rude to leave quietly while he was on a call. So, she waited patiently, gently stroking Ye You’s glossy black fur.
Soon, Ning Hao ended his call. Turning to Qin Sisi, he said, "My grandma is calling
back for dinner."
Qin Sisi sighed in relief and hurriedly replied, "You better go then and not let her wait."
Ning Hao nodded, and then hesitated for a mont before saying, "We’re neighbors now. Maybe I can take you out for a al one of these days."
Qin Sisi absent-mindedly responded, "Sure, I should go ho and make dinner as well."
After hesitating for a mont, Ning Hao said, "Take down my phone number. If anything happens, you can call ."
Having Ye You with her made her feel as if nothing bad could ever happen. But, seeing Ning Hao’s earnest gaze, Qin Sisi felt uncomfortable refusing him and stored his number on her phone.
Once she had stored the number, Qin Sisi put away her phone and told Ning Hao, "I’m going ho now. Goodbye."
"Alright, goodbye." Ning Hao responded. Almost simultaneously, both of them turned around and started walking in opposite directions.
Suddenly, Ning Hao felt a chill down his spine, as if a pair of icy eyes were watching him.
His job had made him particularly alert. He quickly turned his head to look around, but he didn’t find anything. All he could see in the cool autumn wind was the retreating figure of the gentle yet vivacious Qin Sisi.
Ning Hao was perplexed but comforted himself that he must just be overly nervous.
He watched Qin Sisi’s retreating figure for a while before turning around and quickly heading ho.
Qin Sisi entered her house and closed the door. As soon as she did, Ye You spoke, "Stay away from him."
Qin Sisi was taken aback, then asked, "Are you talking about Ning Hao?"
Ye You managed to wriggle out of Qin Sisi’s arms, hopped on the couch, and lay down without responding. It seed like he was deep in thought.
Qin Sisi walked up to Ye You, crouched down in front of him, and looked into his eyes with concern. She asked softly, "What’s wrong?"
Ye You was still silent, but this ti he closed his eyes.
Qin Sisi’s expression beca serious. She had only exchanged a few words with a man she had casually bumped into. What was all the fuss about?
Qin Sisi took a deep breath and told Ye You patiently, "If you’ve got sothing to say, be clear and communicate directly. Guessing others’ intentions can be frustrating."
Ye You opened his eyes, gazed deeply into Qin Sisi’s, and murmured, "What if I say I want to bite you?"
Qin Sisi blinked in surprise, then stretched out her finger towards Ye You’s mouth and said firmly, "Here, bite."
Ye You looked into Qin Sisi’s crystal clear eyes and actually bit her finger. He barely bit down, though. Qin Sisi hadn’t even felt any pain when he let go.
Qin Sisi looked at the shallow bite mark on her finger. She lifted her head to look at Ye You, a hint of confusion in her eyes.
Ye You reached out a paw, mussed Qin Sisi’s hair, and said softly, "It’s okay. I might be overthinking. His job is just a bit worriso."
It turns out what troubled Ye You was Ning Hao’s job.
Qin Sisi breathed a sigh of relief, "We haven’t done anything illegal. There’s nothing to worry about. But, I promise you, I’ll try to stay away from him."
"Good." With that, so of the heaviness lifted from Ye You’s mood, and his eyes softened. He even bopped Qin Sisi on the forehead with his soft, fuzzy head.
Qin Sisi smiled sweetly, whispering, "I’ll go make dinner then."
Saying that, she got up and went into the kitchen, while Ye You watched her retreating figure and sighed.
Sotis, she was really sharp, yet other tis, so obtuse. Could she really not tell that Ning Hao was interested in her?
In order to ensure that she had enough energy for the night, Qin Sisi took a rest after having lunch. Upon waking up, she started to practice her Fire magic again.
Ye You gathered his thoughts and entered his Portable Space to work on concocting pills.
As the night grew deeper, Qin Sisi didn’t go to bed. Instead, she sat with Ye You on the couch, waiting for the ghosts of Wang Haolong and Liu Xiaotian to show up again.
Sure enough, just after midnight, two ghosts dressed in couple pajamas appeared in front of Qin Sisi.
