Jay Sterling rembered what happened before he lost consciousness. When he pushed open the door, the only thought in his mind was: This is the end for in this life.
But now, since he could still see Nina, it ant he wasn’t dead. But what difference did it make to be alive? His entire body hurt like hell; even if he wasn’t dead, he was definitely not lightly injured.
Natalie Vaughn saw Jay Sterling in this state and felt both heartbroken and amused.
"You don’t have any major issues."
Hearing this, Jay Sterling’s eyes lit up, and he struggled to get up, only to scream when he pulled at his wounds.
Natalie Vaughn imdiately pressed him back down.
"What are you moving for? With injuries like that, you’ll be in pain."
Jay Sterling was pressed back onto the bed by Natalie Vaughn, his brow furrowed in pain, unable to relax.
"Nina, am I really not crippled?"
Natalie Vaughn nodded emphatically.
"Really, as long as you recuperate well, it won’t affect your career in the future."
"Then why do I hurt so much? It feels like my legs and arms are broken."
Natalie Vaughn: ...
Seeing that Jay Sterling wasn’t worried about his future career, Natalie felt relieved. She had underestimated Jay Sterling; though young, he’d been through a lot.
"Of course it hurts. Getting hit by a car, how could it not? Your legs and arms are indeed broken."
Jay Sterling: ...
The boy’s face imdiately turned sour.
"Nina, didn’t you say I wasn’t crippled? With broken legs and arms, how isn’t that crippled?"
Natalie Vaughn thought Jay Sterling was a bit silly.
"It’s just a minor fracture. Just rest well, and you’ll be fine. If you don’t want any sequelae, rember not to move around these few months."
Jay Sterling breathed a sigh of relief, then his eyes suddenly widened.
"How’s that kid, Randy?"
Seeing Jay Sterling’s anxious look, Natalie felt a bit reassured. Lately, Jay Sterling had been insecure because of Randy, and she thought there might be a rift between them, but it seed not.
Their relationship was good, so good that they could save each other’s lives.
Thinking this, Natalie teased.
"He’s fine. I didn’t expect you to care so much about Randy."
Jay Sterling ca to his senses and huffed arrogantly.
"My relationship with him isn’t good. I was just doing the right thing. I couldn’t just watch him get hit, could I?"
The doctor had already co to check on Jay Sterling, confirming nothing was seriously wrong, and inford Natalie of the precautions. After the doctor left, Natalie replied.
"Yeah, saving soone almost cost you your life. You’re really too kind."
"...."
Jay Sterling shifted uncomfortably, then got angry.
"What’s with Randy not coming to see after I saved him?"
Natalie glanced at him, feeling lighter because of his cuteness.
"He’s helping you get revenge."
Jay Sterling blinked, not understanding what Natalie ant.
Natalie kindly explained.
"Those people ca to provoke you, picked a fight, and even drove a car into you. We’re not pushovers; if bullied, we retaliate."
Saying this, Natalie’s expression darkened, her gaze turning cold and stern.
That’s exactly it.
"He went there alone? Unfamiliar with the place, isn’t he just walking into a trap by himself?"
"Mr. Thorne went with him."
To be precise, Zane Thorne wanted to go deal with things, and Randy just followed.
Hearing this, Jay Sterling suddenly perked up.
"Did Mr. Thorne go to give them trouble?"
Natalie glanced at him.
"You don’t need to worry about this. Just rest well."
Jay Sterling was unhappy. Finally having a chance to see Mr. Thorne in action, he couldn’t go along, but not getting the latest news was too much!
"Nina, my dear Nina, just tell . I’m neither in pain nor tired now."
Natalie was still steady in her refusal.
"Didn’t you hear what the doctor said earlier? Only by resting well will you recover quickly."
"But..."
"No buts. I’m here taking care of you; how would I know what happened on their end? If you want to know, wait until tomorrow."
Seeing that Natalie seed serious, Jay Sterling finally gave up.
He claid not to be in pain or tired, but as soon as he closed his eyes, he fell asleep within minutes.
Natalie watched him sleep, then quietly left the room.
She dialed Zane Thorne’s number, but no one answered.
As expected.
...
anwhile, Zane Thorne had taken Randy directly to the bar.
Those guys, after hitting soone, didn’t feel guilty at all. Instead, they were living it up, even bragging about the incident.
After Zane Thorne walked in, he glanced around.
"Is it those guys?"
Randy nodded.
Zane Thorne’s eyes dropped slightly, and he slowly rolled up his sleeves.
"Anyone not involved, get out."
The won lying in the n’s arms shuddered at these words. Maybe Zane Thorne’s aura was too strong, or maybe his intent to fight was too obvious. These won fled in panic without a word.
Drunkenness, beauty’s fragrance, srizing to the eyes.
"Who the hell are you?"
The speaker was the most arrogant one, and tonight’s friction was largely his doing. He was also the one who tried to run Randy over and ended up injuring Jay Sterling instead.
Randy, upon seeing him, charged straight in.
Those who appear calm and steady are often the scariest when they explode.
Randy threw a punch with all his might, causing the man to spit blood and lose two teeth.
Another tried to help, but Zane Thorne stepped forward and held him back.
The man quickly glanced at Randy.
With eyes red as blood and fierce brows, each punch was harder than the last.
Zane Thorne let Randy vent his anger, while he held off the others. He was already skilled in combat, and years of training had kept his physique strong, far superior to those who indulged in wine and won.
With just a few moves, Zane Thorne had the rest down on the ground.
Randy kept beating the guy, and who knows how many punches he delivered, the man’s face was covered in blood, unrecognizable.
The bar manager arrived with people, but Zane Thorne was well-known in the area, so they stood aside, and he let Randy have his way.
Only when the man’s resistance weakened, and Randy reached an extrely abnormal state, did Zane Thorne step forward to pull him away.
Randy’s face was flushed, veins in his neck bulging, exhausted.
Zane Thorne easily pulled him aside.
But Randy didn’t want to stop.
Zane Thorne coldly remarked.
"You want to go to jail because of him?"
"But..."
Randy spoke with difficulty, but Zane Thorne understood what he ant.
"The hospital called; he’s fine."
