The person standing outside was not Lu Jing, but his assistant, Chen Chen.
Zhang Lingying was stunned for a mont, almost unable to believe her eyes. She couldn’t help but look behind Chen Chen, feeling certain that Lu Jing hadn’t left and was just hiding in a corner she couldn’t see, sending his assistant to pave the way.
Such shaless moves were what he excelled at.
"Miss Zhang, President Lu has already returned to the hospital," the assistant said politely as Zhang Lingying opened the door.
"..."
"President Lu asked to stay behind to relay so words to Miss Zhang. He said that even though Re Group and Qin Technology Group are competitors, he never intended to use you. He’s very grateful for all you’ve done for him and is willing to compete fairly with Qin Technology Group. If you don’t want to see him, he won’t bother you. He just hopes you’ll give him a chance to prove his feelings for you are sincere."
After Chen Chen finished speaking, he looked at Zhang Lingying, his expression showing a hint of hesitation before he couldn’t help but speak again.
"Miss Zhang, President Lu’s health isn’t in the best condition, and he hasn’t eaten all day. He left because he couldn’t stand the thought of fainting at your doorstep. Although I don’t know what happened between you two, I’ve never seen him care so much about soone in all the years I’ve been by his side..."
Not daring to say more, Chen Chen handed a note to Zhang Lingying and took his leave.
Once no one was outside, Zhang Lingying looked down at the note.
It had Lu Jing’s current hospital and ward number.
The smooth handwriting was presumably Chen Chen’s.
She had seen Lu Jing’s handwriting before; it was flamboyant, much like his arrogant deanor.
Zhang Lingying clutched the note tightly and sat back down at the dining table.
The freshly cooked atballs were still giving off a tantalizing aroma, but she suddenly seed to lose her appetite, staring blankly at the food in front of her.
Images of all the recent events flashed before her eyes.
She actually knew that as a competitor, even though Lu Jing’s actions were sowhat presumptuous, they were understandable.
In the business world, competition relies on one’s abilities.
Lu Xiao was no longer able to stir any trouble; Lu Jing completely controlled Re Group. He said he wanted to compete fairly, and it probably was sincere. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have specifically inford Qin Nanyu that Re Group’s research achievents had help from Doctor CC.
But precisely because of this, he was no longer suitable to stay and recuperate here with her.
To outsiders, her contract with Qin Technology Group had already expired, and she was now a free agent.
But she knew in her heart that if Qin Nanyu hadn’t backed her with the entire Qin Technology Group, and if Leng Jian hadn’t stepped in to gather evidence, the issue would not have been resolved so smoothly.
Zhang Lingying always knew from a young age that one should repay kindness.
No matter whether Lu Jing was serious about her or just playing around, their relationship should end here.
Pursuing it any further might drag down the people who genuinely cared about her.
With this thought, her eyes dimd a little, and she crumpled the note in her hand into a ball, throwing it into the trash can, forcing herself not to think about Lu Jing anymore.
He’s an adult now and needs to learn to take care of himself.
Zhang Lingying finished her al and tidied up the house.
She cleared away all traces of Lu Jing’s presence.
Looking at the newly refreshed apartnt, she initially thought she would be happy, but her heart inexplicably felt a bit empty, as if she had lost sothing.
