The things that happened next were almost inevitable.

The following day, Ji Weitian also inevitably couldn’t get out of bed and slept until the sun was high.

By the ti she woke up, there was no one beside her.

She reached for the alarm clock on the bedside table and squinted at the ti.

Two in the afternoon.

She had missed breakfast, and lunch too. The most outrageous part was that the culprit had already fled, leaving her without a chance to settle the score.

All she could rember was soone whispering a threat in her ear before she drifted off last night: "I have no issue with Leng Jian, and no issue with your friendship, but I can’t help getting jealous. And when I’m jealous, I can’t help but..."

He didn’t continue, but used his actions to prove that the consequences could be dire.

Ji Weitian clasped her face with both hands, snuggled back into the covers, and cursed silently.

Bastard!

Jerk!

Scoundrel!

Big bad wolf!

...

Only after exhausting her repertoire of insults did Ji Weitian feel slightly better.

She got up to brush her teeth and wash her face, then changed into a fresh set of clothes.

She grabbed a slice of whole wheat bread from the table, took a bite, and started heading out the door.

Even though she was already late today, she couldn’t skip work altogether with no excuse. Not to ntion, if soone were to ask why she didn’t co in, if she was feeling unwell... she wouldn’t have a reasonable answer.

She definitely couldn’t tell the truth.

That would be too embarrassing!

So, not long before three in the afternoon, Ji Weitian appeared at the laboratory entrance.

By this ti, the weather had ward up, and many people on the street were already wearing short sleeves.

Ji Weitian had worn just a T-shirt and capri pants yesterday, and though today’s temperature was a few degrees higher, she was wrapped up head to toe in long sleeves and pants.

Her long hair was not tied up like usual but draped over her shoulders, giving her a softer, more delicate look.

"Teacher Ji, what brings you here?" Lei Yunjia, as if fitted with a radar, always spotted Ji Weitian first when she arrived at the lab. He would excitedly rush to her like a big dog wagging its tail, eager for praise.

Ji Weitian raised the bag in her hand with a smile and said, "I brought you guys so afternoon tea."

She glanced past Lei Yunjia, searching the lab for Qin Nanyu.

One reason she insisted on coming was to ease everyone’s concerns; the other was to settle the score with Qin Nanyu!

Yet after searching the entire lab, she couldn’t find him anywhere.

"Qin Nanyu didn’t co today?" Ji Weitian asked instinctively.

Lei Yunjia, while happily distributing the afternoon tea, made sure to highlight that it was specially bought by Ji Weitian. As she received a chorus of thanks, her question was quickly answered.

"Did President Qin co to the lab today?" Wang Xi asked Liu Pan with curiosity.

Liu Pan answered confidently, "No, I was the first to arrive at the lab today and never saw him."

Ji Weitian: "..."

Great, soone bullied her and then left without a trace, and it wasn’t even for work.

The people in the lab had no idea what Ji Weitian was thinking, but noticing her unhappy expression, Lei Yunjia quickly grabbed the remaining milk tea and offered it to her, "Teacher Ji, do you have urgent business with President Qin? How about having a cup of milk tea to calm down first?"
