"It’s nothing," Lu Jing answered crisply.

But his expression didn’t look like it was nothing.

This guy really is stubborn as a mule.

Zhang Lingying prided herself on not being close to him and having no interest in his private matters. Seeing that he wouldn’t speak, she didn’t ask more, sitting quietly by his side.

After a while, rembering the book she had set down earlier, she reached out, picked it up, and continued reading.

In the living room, the atmosphere beca a bit strange.

Lu Jing’s facial wounds had been treated, but his spirit didn’t seem much better. He sat on the sofa with his eyes slightly downcast.

Zhang Lingying sat not far from him, seriously reading her book.

The only sounds were the occasional breathing and the rustling of pages...

No one spoke.

No one knew how long it had been, but once sure Zhang Lingying wouldn’t take the initiative to engage with him, Lu Jing finally raised his eyes slowly and glanced in her direction.

"If the person sitting here today were Leng Jian, would you still have this attitude?"

"..." Zhang Lingying was engrossed in her book. Hearing his voice, she was stunned for a few seconds before responding.

"Of course not, Leng Jian is Leng Jian, you are you, you’re not the sa."

Leng Jian would never run to a girl’s apartnt so late and refuse to leave.

Zhang Lingying silently added a thought in her mind.

"How are we different?" Lu Jing lifted his head slightly, leaned back, and watched the ntion of Leng Jian make Zhang Lingying’s eyes light up.

As if guessing what she was thinking, his gaze turned dark.

"Leng Jian is handso, has a good temper, and is a gentleman. He’s practically a real-life Prince Charming." Zhang Lingying counted Leng Jian’s virtues on her fingers, soon unable to help but laugh out loud.

She really had good taste!

"Do you like him?" Lu Jing’s slender eyes narrowed slightly, the brown pupils reflecting a glimr of danger.

Zhang Lingying, imrsed in her emotions, didn’t notice his change and answered straightaway, "Like, not just like, really like!"

Like him enough to want to steal him back ho and take care of her little prince herself!

"What do you like about him? Just because he’s handso and has a good temper?" Lu Jing sneered slightly at the corner of his mouth, taunting.

"In this world, there are plenty of people who are handso and have a good temper, can you like them all?"

"What’s it to you?"

Having her idol questioned, Zhang Lingying frowned, crossing her arms and sitting further from Lu Jing, tilting her chin.

"I like Leng Jian, and he doesn’t have just two virtues. Can I not appreciate his character? At the very least, he’s a million tis better than you. Instead of reflecting on yourself, you have the nerve to laugh at others."

"A million tis better than ..." Lu Jing chewed on these words as if hearing sothing amusing, the curve at the corner of his mouth growing more pronounced.

"Am I not as good-looking as him? How do you know I can’t be gentle?"

"..."

"So, it turns out you’re like everyone else, judging a person by superficial things." Lu Jing sneered.

Tonight, he was different than usual.

The mischievous aura was heavy on him, the gloominess even heavier.

Like a hidden second persona slowly erging.

Making him a stranger.

Zhang Lingying was alert, noticing his unusual state, imdiately ending the conversation, and stood up from the sofa.

"I’m tired, going to sleep first. In light of us knowing each other, you can stay at my place to rest. The guest room is over there. Leave when you wake up; you don’t have to tell ..."

Before she finished, Lu Jing suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms!
