"Qin Nanyu..." Ji Weitian stood up, following him as they left the restaurant together.
Seeing him about to go upstairs, she quickly stretched out her hand to grasp his sleeve.
"Can’t we talk this out? Avoiding the problem won’t solve it." Ji Weitian’s tone softened, sowhat puzzled as to why Qin Nanyu was so agitated.
Qin Nanyu stopped in his tracks, not turning back to look at her, a faint gleam flickering in his downcast eyes.
His hand unconsciously clenched into a fist.
He was afraid.
Afraid she would grow impatient with his childish behavior.
Afraid she would want to distance herself because of his domineering possessiveness.
He feared... she might suggest they break up.
From his birth, Qin Nanyu was the proud favorite in everyone’s eyes.
In everyone’s view, he was capable of everything and had everything, but no one ever asked him what he wanted.
For so many years, he himself didn’t know what he wanted, rely going through the motions of doing what he thought he ought to do.
But now, there was a clear voice inside his heart.
He wanted her.
Just her alone.
Once a person’s heart harbors sothing precious, it becos fraught with anxiety.
What unsettled him the most was his uncertainty—unsure if he could asure up to Leng Jian, who had been by her side for many years...
"What do you want to talk about? Leng Jian?" Qin Nanyu’s voice was hoarse as he slowly parted his lips.
His eyes weren’t on Ji Weitian, but rather, looking up towards the window.
Nightfall approached, and the scattered starlight played hide-and-seek among the clouds.
However, that faint glimr was unable to illuminate his eyes, nor penetrate his heart.
"Yes, let’s talk about Leng Jian," Ji Weitian replied directly.
Hearing her answer, Qin Nanyu’s gaze grew even darker, and he shook off her hand, stating directly, "I don’t want to talk about that."
"Fine, then let’s not talk about Leng Jian," said Ji Weitian without a second thought.
At her words, he was taken aback, turning to look at today’s particularly agreeable Ji Weitian with confusion.
Ji Weitian didn’t give him ti to figure it out, grabbing his hand again, "Let’s not talk about Leng Jian, can we talk about us instead?"
Qin Nanyu: "..."
"Do you want to break up with ?" Ji Weitian suddenly asked.
His pupils contracted sharply, a deep gleam reflecting in his eyes as he spoke deliberately, "I don’t, What about you?"
Do you no longer want ?
Qin Nanyu didn’t voice the thought, staring at her without a blink.
Seeing that Ji Weitian didn’t imdiately deny it, his heart sank little by little.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, a figure suddenly lunged at him. Before he could react, Ji Weitian was already in his arms, holding him tightly.
"I never thought about breaking up with you. I was making you happy! Don’t you understand?"
When had he seen soone who wanted to break up actively co to feed him?
It was so obvious she was trying to cheer him up; how could he think she wanted a breakup?
Her random statent had left her bewildered.
By the ti she ca back to her senses, she needed to clarify things quickly.
Ji Weitian forcibly pulled Qin Nanyu down onto the sofa, making him sit.
Then she went back into the dining room, brought out the two glasses of water from before, and sat down in front of him.
She coughed lightly twice, sowhat conflicted with a belly full of words, not knowing where to start.
Qin Nanyu’s expression at this mont wasn’t much better than hers, as if he’d just received a shock, appearing sowhat dumbstruck.
"We’re... not breaking up?"
