Ji Mofeng stood in the shadows, backlit so that his expression could not be discerned, but an icy aura exuded from his entire being.
It seed he no longer harbored any feelings for Su Sui.
Ji Weitian’s eyes lowered, and it was as if Su Sui’s hysterical words in front of her echoed in her ears once more.
"Do you know why your father doesn’t like you?"
"Because your face, it looks just like your mother’s. Every ti he sees you, he’s reminded of the woman who abandoned him, preferring death over looking back..."
Ji Weitian unconsciously reached up to touch her own face.
Did she really look like her mother?
She had never seen a photo from her mother’s life in the Ji Family Villa; the only photo she had co across was a small black and white one seen on a tombstone when she had gone to acknowledge her ancestors.
All she rembered was that the person in the photo had contours similar to hers, but as to how similar, she didn’t know.
However, judging by Su Sui’s tone, she must bear a strong resemblance to her mother, enough to make her own father detest her...
"Why are you up so early, hmm?" Qin Nanyu woke up a step before Ji Weitian and, seeing her sitting on the edge of the bed in a daze, stretched a long arm and pulled her into his embrace.
Caught off guard by his actions, her phone slipped from her hand, landing squarely on his chest.
Qin Nanyu grunted softly, reaching down to pick up her phone, and his gaze involuntarily swept over the screen, seeing the ssage there.
The corner of his mouth curled in disdain. "The Ji Family moves fast. It hasn’t even been a day, and all of Su Sui’s misdeeds have been uncovered."
Ji Mofeng’s choice didn’t surprise him.
When he had discovered Su Sui’s tampering at the Ji Family Villa and company, he had already guessed what Ji Mofeng’s reaction would be if it ca to light.
Now, everything had rely confird his initial speculation.
The only difference was—
He had thought that by letting Su Sui receive the punishnt she deserved, Ji Weitian would be pleased, but looking at her current expression, she didn’t seem happy; instead, she appeared... full of contemplation.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked softly as he put down the phone.
Ji Weitian didn’t reply, just turned around and lay down next to him.
Then she reached out to pull the blanket over herself, covering up to her chest, each gesture indicating obedience, making one involuntarily want to ruffle her hair.
And that’s exactly what Qin Nanyu did.
However, after only a few strokes, she swatted his hand away in annoyance. "I can’t talk properly like this."
"Then don’t talk," Qin Nanyu, wholly captivated by her adorable deanor, replied without hesitation.
They had been living together officially for more than a day.
But other than sneaking a kiss or two while she was asleep, life had been bland.
Just yesterday, he saw that brat Qin Morui clinging to her and acting spoilt in her arms—an unfortunate comparison... he lived a worse life than his own son!
"Do you think, Su Sui will go to jail?" Ji Weitian, oblivious to the thoughts of the person beside her, asked him curiously, tilting her head.
Qin Nanyu paused, his dark eyes flashing. "I’ve looked at the information Song Shu found. It could be a major or minor issue. After all, this is an internal matter for the Ji Family. If they agree to settle privately, there’s no problem. But if it goes to court, that’s a different outco entirely."
Qin Nanyu stopped there.
In other words, the only way out for Su Sui now was to beg Ji Mofeng for rcy.
