The unexpected question caught Ji Weitian completely off guard!
She stared blankly, her eyes wide with surprise as she looked at Qin Nanyu, who never failed to shock with his words. She was at a loss for what to say.
"I overheard what you said to Leng Jian in the private room," Qin Nanyu let go of the steering wheel, slowly turned his body, and gazed directly at Ji Weitian, who was sitting in the passenger seat.
He hadn’t intended to eavesdrop.
The data released by the RE Group was sothing others might not recognize, but he saw at a glance how personally tailored it was.
Having dealt with Leng before, he could guess that Leng Jian had a hand in the data.
If Leng was indeed Leng Jian, then the most likely reason Ji Weitian was eting with Leng Jian at this ti was that they had both sided with the RE Group.
If that were true, he would rather remain ignorant of it all.
Yet, he trusted her.
There was no explaining why—perhaps it was love clouding his judgnt, or blind confidence. Regardless, he just trusted her.
He trusted that she wouldn’t be so heartless toward him.
Even with the resentnt from five years ago festering in her heart, she would confront him openly, not sche behind his back with others.
Besides, the person she was with in the room was Leng Jian.

Therefore, after standing outside the door for a while, he couldn’t help himself and moved closer to listen to her conversation with Leng Jian.
He didn’t hear what they had said before.
So of the words were spoken too softly for him to make out.
But one statent from Leng Jian rang out crystal clear.

Qin Nanyu couldn’t see her expression through the door, but he could almost guess Leng Jian’s shock at that mont.

Ji Weitian’s complexion turned pale for a second.
She pinched her own palm, forcing herself to calm down.
Qin Nanyu’s expression didn’t seem like one of soone who had heard everything; he was eerily composed.
Moreover, he didn’t question her about anything else, just whether she liked him.
Although this question was beyond Ji Weitian’s comprehension, realizing that Qin Nanyu apparently hadn’t heard her earlier conversation with Leng Jian, she unconsciously let out a sigh of relief.
Her hands gripped the seat belt as she struggled to pull out a smile.
"After all, I am now part of the lab, and the lab’s honor is partly mine as well. Wherever I can help, I certainly want to do my best for everyone..."
"You know that’s not what I’m asking," Qin Nanyu abruptly interjected, cutting off her words.
His burning gaze firmly fixed on her, leaving no room for escape.
The car door was even locked.
