"Just here is fine, I’m a bit tired, I’ll sleep for a while, you do your thing," Qin Nanyu made himself at ho on the sofa, chin pointed towards Ji Weitian’s still-unpacked luggage, signaling that she could continue.
How could she possibly settle down and pack with him lying there on the sofa watching her?
Yet when Weitian thought to send him away and saw his accommodating expression, she again found herself unable to be so harsh.
Forget it, just let him stay for the night.
Weitian no longer felt like tidying up, so she went to check on the children’s room and found that after their play, the two little ones had fallen asleep.
The siblings, who often fought over their territory, were now embraced in a rare mont of affection, sleeping together.
Fatty lay at the foot of the bed, like a guardian spirit watching over them. When he noticed soone co in, the vigilant cat lifted its head, but seeing it was Weitian, he lay back down.
Having both a son and a daughter, peaceful parents, this scene suddenly cald Weitian’s troubled heart.
Whatever happened, if Qin Nanyu was willing to give his son to her and not fight over custody, she could pretend like nothing had ever happened five years ago.
Weitian approached the children, bent down to kiss the little ones, stroking their cute cheeks, she couldn’t help but whisper softly.
"Mommy loves you."
"Daddy loves you too."
A deep voice ca from behind her.
Weitian jumped, turning her head sharply to find that the man who had been lying on the sofa was now at the door of the children’s room, leaning against the fra, his dark eyes intently fixed on her.
eting her gaze, Qin Nanyu walked over to her and parted his thin lips, speaking deliberately,
"Ji Weitian, five years ago..."
"I’m tired; if you want to see Ruirui and Yaoyao, rember to be careful not to wake them. I’m going back to my room," Weitian cut him off in a panic, turned around, and bolted out the door.
The next second, she rushed into her own room and closed the door behind her.
Qin Nanyu turned around, his brow slightly furrowed as he watched her disappearing figure.
He didn’t linger in the room long, peeked at the two little ones, and walked out.
Standing in the living room, he surveyed the small apartnt before him.
So these years, she had been living here with her parents and daughter?
Qin Nanyu felt a slight stir in his heart.
Although the house was small, it seed to retain all the traces of their life; he could even imagine her sitting on the sofa, holding her daughter as they watched TV...
One adult, one child, plus a cat.
If he had found them sooner, it should have been a family of four, plus a cat.
He couldn’t change the past.
But he could start trying now, to give her and the children a complete ho.
Before he ca to Nanpo Apartnt, he had already visited Mr. and Mrs. Shen’s snack shop.
He had warned the elderly couple in advance and had Song Shu escort them to the villa beforehand.
Tonight, they wouldn’t return.
Qin Nanyu glanced at Ji Weitian’s room, walked forward, and tried the doorknob.
Finding it locked and unable to open it, he realized he would have to sleep in the living room tonight.
The sofa might not be very comfortable, but only where she and the children were could be called ho.
The day’s clamor settled down.
The night was very still.
The door of the master bedroom suddenly made a slight noise and then, the door opened from the inside.
Ji Weitian didn’t turn on the lights but, taking a flashlight, tiptoed out.
All the way to the sofa in the living room...
