Four years of separation had left Ji Weitian feeling not only heartache for her son but also an unspeakable guilt.

She wanted to acknowledge her own son, but she feared that showing her emotions too obviously would scare him.

After speaking a few words, she dared not make a sound, anxiously staring at the little guy, afraid that any expression of resistance would appear on his face.

She waited quite a while, but Ruirui simply stared at her.

His little face did not betray any emotion, yet his dark, glossy eyes blinked twice, and he pursed his little lips.

It seed as if he had sothing to say but hesitated whether or not to speak.

Ji Weitian could only encourage him with her eyes, waiting for him to open his mouth and ask if she really was his mother.

She had even prepared herself, ready to give an affirmative answer as soon as he asked.

And the little guy did ask.

With a shy but handso little face, he looked straight at Ji Weitian, and in his babyish voice, he asked—not the question Ji Weitian had anticipated, but—

"Mommy, are you planning to marry my daddy?"

"Yes, I am..." Ji Weitian closed her eyes, about to confirm their biological mother-son relationship, but before she finished, she realized what the little guy was asking and almost choked on her saliva.

With a start, she opened her eyes and looked down at him.

Rembering what she had just said, she quickly clarified.

"No, that’s not what I an, Ruirui. Mommy and your daddy... Mommy and your daddy..."

What relationship did she have with Qin Nanyu to get married?

But how was she to explain to a four-year-old child that she and Qin Nanyu had no affection for each other, yet had a pair of adorable children?

Now, she had to suddenly make her son, who had been away from her for four full years, recognize her as his mother—a mother who hadn’t taken care of him for even a single day...

Ji Weitian suddenly found herself at a loss for words.

Her reaction, in the eyes of the little one, was that his daddy had been rejected, and Ji Weitian couldn’t beco his mother either—his little face imdiately fell.

After thinking for a mont, he spoke very seriously.

"Actually, it’s okay if Mommy doesn’t like my daddy. You just need to like . As long as you’re willing to be my mommy, you are my real mom!"

"..."

Ji Weitian was genuinely confused.

By the ti she ca to her senses, she suddenly realized that the little guy had misunderstood her.

He thought she was preparing to be with Qin Nanyu and therefore claid to be his mother.

Ji Weitian picked up a glass of water and took a sip.

First, she cald her own emotions, carefully pondering how to convince the little fellow that they were indeed biological mother and son.

Ji Weitian caught a glimpse of Little Glutinous Rice Dumpling, who was completely disengaged from the conversation and busily eating wontons, and her eyes lit up!

"Ruirui, do you know what twins are?" Ji Weitian asked, looking down.

The little fellow nodded, indicating he understood.

"And what about fraternal twins?" Ji Weitian asked again.

She knew the little guy was smart but wasn’t sure to what extent, so she could only ask bit by bit.

Seeing Ruirui hesitate, she imdiately explained.

"When a mommy has two babies in her belly at the sa ti, it’s called twins, and if those two babies are a boy and a girl, they’re called fraternal twins."

"Like and my little sister?" the little fellow asked, giving an example.

Ji Weitian was ecstatic, nodding frantically, "Exactly! You and your sister are fraternal twins!"

The next second, she saw the little guy frowning and asking her, puzzled, "But, if my sister and I weren’t in the sa mommy’s belly, could we still be called fraternal twins?"
