Ji Weitian hadn’t recovered her composure when Lei Yunjia unconsciously let go of her hand, stepped aside, and took the initiative to speak, "Good morning, President Qin."
Qin Nanyu remained silent, his gaze fixed on Ji Weitian.
Seeing this, Lei Yunjia greeted him and then turned to head up the stairs.
It was then that Qin Nanyu stepped forward, walking up to Ji Weitian and stopping in front of her.
He looked down at her waist.
It was as if he was asking with his eyes if her waist was okay now.
"No, no problem now, the bruising has mostly faded. I think my recovery’s been quite good, so I figured I’d co back to the docunt room to help out," Ji Weitian said, touching her nose awkwardly and secretly rejoicing in her mind that she wasn’t a man, or else the question would’ve been even more awkward.
To avoid Qin Nanyu lifting her shirt to check without warning again, Ji Weitian deliberately sidestepped the topic by ntioning that Lei Yunjia had called her.
Upon hearing this, Qin Nanyu’s brows furrowed slightly as he said coldly, "The docunt managent manual details the proper retrieval thods."
"The manual is there alright, but he is a mber of the laboratory, not a docunt room manager. Helping them organize and retrieve docunts is actually my job, so it’s not Lei Yunjia’s fault," Ji Weitian defended Lei Yunjia instinctively.
In fact, she quite admired the kid.
Smart, hardworking, and especially eager to learn... With proper ntoring, he could beco a true talent.
Ji Weitian was purely talking business and didn’t notice that Qin Nanyu’s face had darkened further, his black eyes ominously fixed on her, as if waiting for her to continue speaking well of Lei Yunjia.
"Why are you looking at like that? Did I say sothing wrong?" Ji Weitian reached out to touch her face.
Assured that there was nothing on her face.
Qin Nanyu snorted coldly, "It’s not his fault; it’s mine. I shouldn’t have taken leave for you, allowing you to run the docunt room while injured. Perhaps you could even be comnded as a model worker."
Ji Weitian: "???"
This man’s mood swings are truly bizarre; one second he’s human, the next he’s spewing venom.
Ji Weitian decided to pretend she didn’t understand his sarcasm and turned to head upstairs.
Qin Nanyu followed behind her, and upon seeing that he was being ignored, his eyes darkened.
He murmured, almost to himself.
"I’m just kindly reminding you to maintain a relative distance from the laboratory mbers. Apart from allowing them more room for growth, it could also prevent a lot of unnecessary troubles."
"What exactly are you trying to say?" Ji Weitian paused her steps and turned to glare at him.
In her eyes, Qin Nanyu was just creating problems out of nothing to target her.
She had helped Lei Yunjia find so docunts; how did that retard Lei Yunjia’s growth?
The atmosphere between the two beca tense in an instant.
The assistant, following behind and sensing that things were amiss, hurriedly stepped forward to intervene.
"I also think Lei Yunjia is an outstanding student with much potential. The boss ans that scientific research requires focus. Lei Yunjia is good-looking; surely many girls like him, and who knows if romantic entanglents might distract him from his experints."
"The laboratory isn’t a monastery, and science isn’t about being purged of all desires. A good ntal state is the foundation for human cognitive activities, and I don’t think Lei Yunjia dating would have any direct impact on his experints."
Ji Weitian frowned in disagreent.
The assistant’s heart skipped a beat; he turned to look at his boss and, as expected, the boss’s face had darkened even more.
He said coolly, "Are you also trying to say that even if there’s a relationship between teacher and student, it doesn’t matter?"
"What’s wrong with teacher-student relationships? Everyone’s an adult, capable of independent thought. Lei Yunjia isn’t a child... Wait a minute!"
