In the car
"I need to sleep soundly for three days and three nights once we get back."
The latter half of the month had been really tough due to Ming Lang’s exploitation, and Jiang Mian felt both haggard and weak, needing serious replenishnt.
She leaned back in her seat, allowing her eyes to relax half-closed.
Luo Ting glanced at the schedule for the next few days. "Tomorrow is cleared so you can rest well, and the day after tomorrow, there’s a magazine shoot."
"There are a few scripts that ca in recently, ’Twin’ for instance, a dual female lead detective story, I think you should take a look."
Dual female lead.
And a criminal investigation.
Jiang Mian looked up as Luo Ting handed her the script, sowhat interested. "I’ll check it out when I get back."
"Ding—"
The phone, having received a ssage, started vibrating in succession.
The quiet group chat suddenly sprang to life.
Pei Jingyue: "Whoa, seems like the outside world has drastically changed while I was away."
Susu Big Baby: "Pei Jingyue! You finally got internet access, what did you bring us this ti?"
Pei Jingyue: "Co et tonight to celebrate my return, everyone has to be there, the usual spot."
Pei Jingyue was Jiang Mian and Su Lixing’s childhood friend, the typical rich heir who preferred the thrill of adventure.
Initially, his family was against it, but now they’d stopped caring; as long as he rembered to co ho, it was good.
Not long ago, he ntioned going to a newly discovered island for so research experience and ended up staying for over two months, nearly breaking his record for longest disappearance.
During that period, Su Lixing and Jiang Mian were a bit worried, but then they recalled that the Pei Family had a Life Detector on him.
If there were no alerts, they guessed the guy was probably sowhere without internet, and unreachable.
Susu Big Baby: "Perfect timing, a certain superstar finished filming today, no excuses, we’re celebrating together, no absences allowed."
With a smirk, Jiang Mian looked down and typed three words: "Definitely there!"
"Sister Ting, let’s not go to Beijing Mansion, let’s head straight to the styling studio and get a massage to relax."
Luo Ting, sharp as ever, sensed sothing was amiss. "You have plans tonight, huh?"
It seed like a big deal.
To think she would go for a massage and then to a styling studio, despite how tired she was – who could be so important?
"Childhood friend’s back, haven’t seen him in a long ti, just going to et."
A guy?!!
Yangyang’s expression lit up: "Sister, is he handso?"
Jiang Mian casually flipped through Pei Jingyue’s monts: "Not handso, a caveman."
A picture of Pei Jingyue showed him with a thick beard, wearing clothes that resembled those of native tribes, and ssy hair; from head to tail, there wasn’t a single clean spot to be found.
Yangyang’s lip twitched slightly, feeling a bit awkward: "Quite...primitive. That style is really rare."
Jiang Mian put away her phone: "You get used to it."
Apart from Pei Jingyue, Jiang Mian couldn’t think of anyone else who’d put such a decent-looking face through that much tornt.
"Bro, bro, bro, Jiang Mian! I found Jiang Mian."
A paparazzo, idly carrying his cara and thinking about browsing the mall today, hadn’t expected to bump into the currently popular Jiang Mian.
He excitedly called his older brother: "It’s really Jiang Mian. She seems to be here for styling, and her agent is here too, I’m not mistaken."
The person on the other end of the phone said sothing, and the paparazzo responded, "Then hurry up, bro, I’m keeping watch here."
His brother insisted on following closely; who knew, this might be their ticket to making big money.
For money, they’d cling tight no matter what.
At that mont, Jiang Mian was still closing her eyes, enjoying the massage, blissfully unaware that she was being followed.
