Sylvia was having porridge, and Zane was eating, while Sophia walked out of the hospital room alone, sitting in the corridor looking at her phone.
At so point, Zane ca out holding his food. "You look adorable when you’re jealous."
"I’m not jealous."
"Then I’m pretty sad."
"..."
Is this the ti to open your mouth?
"lora Vance is coming back tomorrow, and I’m not dealing with her anymore." Zane said.
"Yes, I know, you said it many tis last night." Sophia replied.
Zane nodded.
Seeing her ambiguous expression, he couldn’t tell if she was jealous or really didn’t care.
"I actually hope you would be a little jealous." He murmured to himself.
"..." Sophia turned her head to look at him and asked seriously, "Do you an you want to be ambiguous with soone, so I would be jealous?"
"No..."
"President, watch less romantic reality shows." Sophia rolled her eyes at him.
Zane lowered his eyes and quietly continued eating.
He got scolded, but felt a strange joy inside.
He chuckled secretly.
Sotis he really couldn’t understand her.
When they were alone, she acted shy and timid, like a little rabbit.
When displeased, she was aggressive, very assertive in confrontation.
Just as they were sitting together silently, a familiar voice ca.
"Zane."
Both of them looked up.
Tim Sawyer was walking towards them from a distance.
Zane sat there, ignoring him, while Sophia hurriedly stood up.
"Hello, Manager Sawyer."
"Sophia, you’re here too?" Tim said.
"Ethan was busy, so I ca to deliver dinner. I’m about to head back." She was just looking for an excuse to leave.
Zane, with dark eyes, finished his last bite of food and stood up to head back to the room.
Tim followed behind him.
Sophia was packing the insulated box, while Zane skillfully helped her tidy up.
Sylvia finally smiled, looking at Tim and Sophia. "Everyone’s here now."
Sophia and Zane seed to catch an implicit aning.
Could it be that Sylvia had called Tim over on purpose to provoke?
Perhaps she wanted Sophia and Tim to argue, then watch Sophia get angry to make herself feel better?
How cunning!
"Sylvia, I heard you were unwell, so I ca to check on you." With that, Tim placed a fruit basket nearby.
Sylvia glanced at it, then threw the tissue she used to wipe her mouth into the trash can.
She deliberately missed, causing it to fall on the floor.
Sophia was about to bend down to pick it up when Zane swiftly got there first, wrapping it with a clean tissue and tossing it back into the bin.
He then gave her a aningful look.
Sylvia withdrew her little sche, pretending not to know, and then said to Tim, "Thank you. Luckily you’re here to see ; otherwise, I might have thought you ca just to see Sterling."
"I see Zane at work every day. If I wanted to see him, there’s no need to co to the hospital." Tim said, unfazed, as if indifferent to her provocation.
Sophia glanced almost imperceptibly at the man beside her.
Zane had a stern face, feeling like she was just enjoying the spectacle, not taking him seriously as her husband at all.
Sylvia wasn’t convinced, wanting to stir up so trouble for her gain.
But Zane had also solemnly told her that Sophia’s identity should not be disclosed for the ti being.
She obediently adhered to Zane’s words but couldn’t stand the presence of other won around him.
She wanted Sophia to get angry, hoping she would vent her anger on Zane afterward.
"Have you finished your visit? If so, you can leave now." Sylvia said.
"All done, but I just wanted to ask, why is it that every ti on my birthday, you suddenly have heart problems?" Tim scoffed, continuing with disdain, "Those who know will think your heart is too precious to bear the stimulation, while those who don’t might think you’re deliberately keeping Zane by your side, hindering him from seeing other won."
"Tim." Zane’s eyes sent out a warning signal.
He could tell what Tim wanted to imply, and he knew Sylvia was capable of such things.
He hadn’t thought much of it before, but more and more incidents have indicated that Sylvia’s behavior stemd from a pathological mindset.
Sophia stood aside, putting the insulated box into a bag, ignoring this aningless quarrel.
"Tim, don’t go too far!" Sylvia felt even more thrilled to see Zane intervene.
"Am I overstepping? Hah, I think your problem isn’t with your heart but with your brain." Tim no longer wanted to keep up the facade.
"What right do you have to criticize ? When Sterling was injured those two years, you hid abroad, leaving him to bear it alone, and now you want to co back and win him over..." Sylvia couldn’t hold back.
"I wasn’t hiding! I never received any ssages..." Tim’s gaze shifted to Zane, hoping for his acknowledgnt.
But he made no response, just adding warm water to the cup nearby.
"If I were you, Tim, I’d go far away and avoid further humiliation!"
"I don’t expect Zane to forgive , but soone of your sort commands no respect from any decent man!" Tim said,
The two argued incessantly.
Zane, having cleared the table, directly walked out.
The arguing voices ceased suddenly.
Sophia suddenly felt sorry for Zane, her cold eyes narrowing as she glared at Sylvia, "Idiot!"
Sylvia was startled by Sophia’s gaze and unconsciously covered her chest.
Tim snorted and followed after Zane.
Not wanting to stay there either, Sophia picked up the insulated box, grabbed the coat Zane had left behind, and walked out.
Sylvia clenched her jaw tightly, hands forming fists.
She wanted to tackle them one by one but realized she couldn’t defeat any of them.
At the roadside outside the inpatient building,
Ethan rushed over, and after exchanging a few words with Zane, Tim caught up.
Zane ignored her, continuing to instruct Ethan about sothing before Ethan left again.
Once he was gone, Tim stationed herself in front of Zane, blocking his path.
Her eyes were filled with grievance as she looked at the man who once only had eyes for her.
There was no longer any light in his eyes, not even a trace of emotion.
"Can you just listen to for a mont?" Tim pleaded lowly as she looked at him.
He remained silent, cold eyes regarding her icily.
Tim moved forward gently, tentatively taking his hand.
Zane pulled away, stuffing both hands into his pant pockets, waiting impatiently for her to speak.
"The year you had the accident, I had just gone abroad for further studies, and my family cut off all contact between us. They used your profile picture to chat with and break up; I thought it was you, Zane, I only learned the truth when I returned."
She was almost crying as she spoke, her face full of grievance, not seeming to be lying.
"Zane," she stepped forward, holding up his left hand, looking at the ring on his ring finger.
"Please don’t use this thod to punish . I know I was wrong. Let stay with you from now on, okay? Will you, Zane?"
She pleaded.
She felt Zane was deliberately wearing the ring to provoke her.
Because as soon as she arrived at the headquarters and ca under his supervision, she noticed the extra ring on his hand.
"Are you finished?" His face was indifferent, as if a gust of wind passed by, having no effect on him at all.
"Zane..."
"I should be going, Manager Sawyer." He addressed her as Manager Sawyer.
Without a backward glance, he turned and left.
Tim stood there in a daze, staring at his departing figure.
"Zane, I will make you fall in love with again, I won’t give up."
Zane didn’t hear Tim’s words, as if she was speaking to herself.
Not far away, Sophia watched Zane’s lonely figure, hurriedly catching up to him.
