Faye didn’t leave; she sat quietly on the sofa, waiting.

There was nothing Hugh could do about her.

At so point, Ansel and Bianca appeared together in the hospital room.

Hugh knew this must have been arranged by that dog, Zane.

Sophia was slowly waking up too.

Everyone tacitly agreed not to ntion that matter.

Sophia opened her eyes slightly; the clear gaze in her eyes held no emotion, more like a sense of unfamiliarity.

A sense of unfamiliarity with this world.

She weakly looked around, not feeling much surprise at their arrival.

She took a deep breath, still feeling like sothing was stuck, unable to muster any strength, her whole body limp, as if all energy had been drained from her.

"How do you feel?" Hugh asked, sitting by the bed.

Faye also got up and stood at the foot of her bed.

"Tired." Sophia looked at the IV drip in her hand.

She said she was tired, not knowing if it was ntal fatigue or physical exhaustion, or both mind and body worn out.

The last ti she was sick was back in the year-end, when she had a fever, and Zane stayed up all night taking care of her. Back then, she was surprised at the attention, and it seed that from that ti on, she slowly started to develop different feelings toward Zane.

Everyone was here now.

Except him.

Her heart felt even emptier, so empty that nothing could fill it.

Thinking of this, it seed she stirred up so things she shouldn’t be thinking about.

Her head suddenly ached; she squinted her eyes, attempting to suppress these things in her mind, but it was futile. The more she tried to suppress them, the more mories were evoked.

What’s going on between him and Tim?

Zane definitely wouldn’t do such a thing!

How could it be such a coincidence that the two really ran into each other?

Her breathing beca increasingly heavier, as if sothing was desperately trying to break free.

"Do you feel anything different from usual?" Hugh observed her expression.

He didn’t know if he should tell her about the pregnancy right now.

Under such circumstances, truly fear sothing might go wrong...

In case emotions get too intense, this...

Faye glanced at Hugh’s worried look and bluntly said, "You’re pregnant."

He didn’t care about much else.

Although he didn’t wish for Sophia to be pregnant with that dog’s child, it was now certain, a fact set in stone.

Even if the sky fell, Sophia would find out about this sooner or later, just within these days.

Now that she’s aware of Zane’s situation, it’s better to tell her so she can process it together.

If these things ca one after another for her to bear, how much more painful would it be.

Long pain is better than short pain.

Anyway, it’s beneficial for him without harm.

Hugh glared at him, but Faye pretended not to see.

Upon hearing the news, Sophia’s eyes suddenly opened wide, with a look of incredulous joy, but soon turned to loss and sadness.

She was stunned for a long ti.

Her mind was spinning with the events of the day.

Everything was crowded together.

If Zane was truly as they said, what should she do?

This was even more infuriating than that beast, Henry!

"Mr. Ellison ordered so milk tea just now; do you want any? This place has good green tea." Ansel smiled.

Hugh tugged his lips; what kind of species is this Ansel?

To say such things at this mont.

Sophia was lost in her imagination, completely ignoring what they were saying.

Faye glanced sideways at him, her eyelids sunk again.

He hadn’t been gone long, and now he was back again. Was he sent by God specifically to irritate him?

"Would you all leave now?" At this mont, she just wanted to be alone for a while.

"..."

Hugh furrowed his brows; sotis n were really of no use at all.

She signaled with her eyes, and everyone coincidentally walked out.

Hugh went out too, knowing that whatever was said now, Sophia wouldn’t listen, it would only make her more resentful.

It’s better to let her process it herself, as long as she doesn’t do anything silly, it’s all good.

The hospital room finally quieted down.

But the feeling in her heart magnified, pressing down, so she couldn’t breathe.

Last year, around this ti, she had the sa feeling, when Zane made her witness Henry and Sienna’s infidelity, that soul-crushing agony.

She pushed through it.

At that ti, she wanted to tear them apart, even contemplated pulling apart their cover of sha on the spot, but she didn’t.

They hurt her so blatantly, how could she just let them go?

Her current mood was no less than last year’s.

She didn’t believe Zane would betray her, just as last year she didn’t believe Henry would betray her.

She thought being with Zane was devoid of emotion; even if he did sothing, she wouldn’t be sad, at least not like losing her soul.

But later she found Zane was excellent. He genuinely cared for her, without reservation, as if they had been in love for many years.

She had already returned tenfold of the love Zane gave her.

But now, what had it beco?

The promised seven parts of love for herself, three parts for others.

She still couldn’t manage it.

Encountering soone good to her, she couldn’t wait but dedicate herself entirely to this man, only to end up battered and bruised.

Wasn’t she truly foolish?

Tears rolled down past her nose, landing on the light blue pillow, imdiately absorbed, forming a dark patch.

Unknowingly, most of the pillow was stained dark, her cheeks chilled with a chilly sensation.

She slowly got up, picking up the phone on the side.

Her fingers trembled uncontrollably, mistyped the password several tis before unlocking it.

She hesitated for two seconds, looking at the dozens of unread ssages on WhatsApp, her heart seed to be tugged at by soone, unable to find balance.

The phone had received several calls, answered by Hugh; there were calls from Autumn, Grandpa Sterling, Eugene, and Zoe...

Hugh answered them all, each lasting just two or three minutes.

Except Zane’s, which she didn’t answer.

Didn’t even open them.

Tears stread down her face, like pearls slipping off a broken string...

Sophia knew Hugh must have used her phone to call and scold soone.

She looked at the last ssage on the screen: Wait for !

In the end, she still didn’t have the courage to open those ssages from him.

Her heart hurt badly.

She felt as if she was about to die!

Sophia herself pulled out the needle from the back of her hand, walked into the bathroom to shower.

Hugh occasionally glanced through the glass window, accidentally noticing she wasn’t on the bed anymore, the drip hanging beside the bed, dripping onto the floor, splashing tiny splashes.

She pushed open the door and went in, hearing the sound of water flowing from the bathroom.

She lightly asked, "Sophia?"

"I’m fine." Sophia quickly responded.

Hugh breathed a sigh of relief, standing at the doorway, quietly waiting.

She just wanted to awaken herself with water, and she certainly wouldn’t use cold water.

This is her and Zane’s child.

The first ti with him, thinking she was pregnant, bumping into Sienna being bullied at the hospital, it was Zane who ca to her aid. At that mont, she knew this was the man.

At least he was responsible.

Back then she thought, even if she didn’t end up with Zane, she would still give birth if she were pregnant.

She didn’t need his acknowledgnt.

Once before, now, it’s the sa.
