"I’m with Clay Gable now," Nathan quietly said to Sophia.
Sophia seed to have heard sothing shocking, "When did this happen?"
Nathan blushed, hooked his arm around Sophia’s, and leaned in, "When I was returning his tie, his employees saw it, and the rumor spread for a long ti."
She ntioned that they unexpectedly t again at a reunion after New Year’s, and it turned out they attended the sa school. Nathan got drunk and Clay, to avoid misunderstanding, took her to a hotel instead of sending her back to the Jennings Family.
The Jennings Family saw them at the hotel, and the rumors intensified, spreading uncontrollably, until they finally approached Clay.
No matter how Nathan explained, nobody listened, and she was kept in confinent for a long ti.
Clay seed indifferent, as if it was none of his concern.
The Jennings Family pushed hard, proposing a marriage alliance unilaterally.
Nathan called Clay for help.
Clay surprisingly said, "Why not give it a try?"
She hadn’t expected Clay to say that; she felt like a lamb to the slaughter. She wasn’t released until the details were settled.
"Clay is indeed a good person," Sophia agreed.
Back when he didn’t know about Sophia and Zane getting married, he advised her to leave Zane with earnest intentions to save her. He wasn’t bad by nature; rather, he had an indescribable charm.
"Both families are already preparing for the wedding now, and there’s no engagent," Nathan pursed his lips, "But I’m not very familiar with him, and it seems I don’t quite like him."
Clay appears as a refined and ascetic scholar, yet underneath he can be quite a blush-inducing presence.
On the day he carried Sophia back to Nathan’s room, Nathan saw him wrapped in a towel.
Sophia glanced back at Zane, smiled, "Don’t worry, Mr. Gable should cherish you. Maybe he’s had intentions for a long ti."
When she and Zane started out, they weren’t familiar, but later she found out it was just her feeling unfamiliar with him one-sidedly.
"Really? You and Mr. Sterling..." Nathan looked surprised, "So how are you now?"
Sophia smiled.
She felt pretty good. Sotis he’s a bit wooden, his affection couldn’t be hidden.
But she doesn’t wish for too much; being together was just an accident.
Sophia believed she had fallen for him completely. She used to think she loved herself seven parts and others three parts, but now she couldn’t control those beliefs.
She was head over heels for Zane.
"We’re doing well now," she said.
They do argue a bit, but she likes honesty in communication, and Zane is the sa, so they communicate harmoniously.
"How did you two end up together?" Nathan couldn’t help but wonder.
Their marriage beca better known only recently, although they’d been married for so ti.
No one had expected soone like Zane, such a significant figure, would choose to marry soone without any background.
Despite Sophia’s visible capability, without background, she wasn’t the first choice.
"He won over," Sophia laughed a bit.
He did everything to let Sophia see Henry’s infidelity, then he pressured step by step to bring her into his domain. Isn’t this being won over?
Everything fell smoothly into place.
"Won over? Like a bandit? Hard to tell; didn’t you fancy him back then?" Nathan asked.
"His reputation was too poor; I was avoiding him," Sophia chuckled.
When she first started working at his company, she heard. Although he was handso, his temper was incredibly cold.
"Poor reputation?" She didn’t expect such a comnt.
"Why isn’t Mr. Gable here today?" Sophia asked curiously.
If Clay agreed to the marriage, he must have intentions. With Nathan out, Clay should be aware and co to find her.
"Today, Mr. Sterling invited my brother. I ca with my brother, so Clay probably doesn’t know," Nathan puffed his cheeks, "Hopefully, he won’t co. It’ll be awkward as I’m not very used to dealing with n."
Sophia frowned. Why did he invite so many people today?
Isn’t today supposed to discuss cooperation?
Or is there sothing else?
She turned around to look at the man, and his eyes just happened to fall on her.
He looked puzzled, with "What’s up?" written on his forehead.
Sophia smiled, not paying it much mind.
Maybe it’s because they hadn’t gone out for fun in a while and invited more people to unwind.
Sophia and Nathan chatted tirelessly; Nathan was good at creating topics, and they talked cheerfully, not noticing the people behind them had already ridden away.
Sophia didn’t want to leave; it was already sunset, and her legs were sore from walking, but Nathan said she wanted to walk since she hadn’t been out for activities lately.
Sophia didn’t want to dampen her spirits, so she accompanied her on a slow walk back.
The night slowly descended.
"Such fragrant tulips, do you sll them?" Sophia moved her nose.
The scent was all too familiar; she adored it.
Yet Ethan’s ranch never planted tulips, and the scent was so strong.
"Really?" Nathan laughed.
Sophia looked around; the horse trainer and coach were gone, and no one was by the stables.
The surroundings were quietly serene.
After they tied the horses, they went to a nearby faucet to wash their hands.
"Your hair is ssy, let tidy it for you." Nathan helped her smooth her hair after cleaning her hands.
Today felt strange to Sophia; she couldn’t say exactly what was off.
"Alright, let’s go." Nathan hooked her arm, pulling her along a path by the yard.
To return to the yard, they could just go through it, Sophia was about to speak when the entire ranch was suddenly lit with warm amber ambient lights.
She jumped in shock.
Nathan curled a smile.
Sophia imdiately felt Nathan knew sothing!
"Sophia! Over here!" A familiar voice broke into her eardrums.
She turned towards the sound; it was Kai and Sheryl!
Weren’t they abroad? When did they co back?
Sophia was about to ask when she saw a scene that made her heart race.
Besides them, there were Autumn, Zeke, Grandpa Sterling, Eugene, Zoe...
They all ca...
Everyone held an Alice tulip in their hands, smiles on their faces, their laughter ringing in the air.
Sophia’s heart pounded; no mont felt as exciting as now, as if she knew sothing.
Zane was going to propose?
The corners of her mouth lifted, her smile blooming like spring flowers; yet sohow, her nose tinged with sadness, unable to hide the joy in her heart.
"Go on, got silly?" Nathan nudged her.
Sophia bit her lip, trying to calm herself down, but the excitent inside kept surging, impossible to settle down.
She lifted her long legs and walked over; Kai and Sheryl handed her the flowers, giving her a big hug. "Be happy, sister!"
Sophia held the flowers in her hands, trembling, smiling, tears gathering in her eyes.
She continued walking forward, those ahead opened a path leading to the front yard, everyone stood on both sides of the path, each step she took, soone handed her the flowers she loved most.
Reaching Autumn, Sophia suddenly gave her a big hug.
"Mom..." Her tears couldn’t be held back anymore.
"Silly child, why are you crying?" Autumn gently patted her back.
"Oh my, darling, why are you crying?" Zoe cautiously wiped away the tears at her eyes.
She slowly let go, fixed her makeup, and kept moving forward.
As she walked, she gathered the flowers they held into her arms.
At that mont, she only had him in her heart, only one thought: to reach Zane.
