Chapter 689: Kush’s Surprising Secret (Part One)
Stenson went to Chekhov and relayed the information.
Chekhov sent him away afterwards, and Mario waited for Chekhov to co back before he said, “Shall we go back? I feel like we could get ready for a big fight again!”
Chekhov rolled his eyes at him. “How do we get back? Now that you and I are citizens of the M Nation, and our identities have been docunted, do you think Mandala’s background wouldn’t be linked to the Land of rcenaries? There will be an investigation on this.”
Mario looked frustrated. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have fcking wanted this shtty citizenship.”
Chekhov: “The boss left us here with a purpose. For example, like now, we could get the results and report back to ho base as soon as possible.”
Mario was a battle fanatic and his limbs felt especially itchy knowing that there was a battle back ho and he could not get involved; staying here made him feel rusty.
“I feel like I’m going to go crazy.” Mario sighed as he tilted his head up.
“It’s okay, I’ll find you soone to let off so steam tonight.” Having said that, Chekhov went and reported back ho about the information he got from Senator Jerry about the eting tonight.
anwhile, in the Land of rcenaries, the one in charge of connecting with Chekhov was Li Wei. He was now in charge as the head of the Intelligence Bureau, and all of this information was within his scope of work.
He sat in the car with Xu Cheng as they headed for Kush’s territory.
Kush greeted them at his office.
Li Wei said straightforwardly, “The M Nation has a plan to use peacekeeping forces as an excuse to station troops in this place. By then, this unclaid land would be divided among the major five countries in the UN.”
Kush’s expression seed a bit heavy.
Xu Cheng looked at him without speaking, seeing if Kush was still going to endure this.
“Do you have any opinions?” Kush looked up at Xu Cheng and asked.
“My attitude and choice has been clear as always, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken out the two M Nation troops. The fighter jets you were afraid are now in our hands, and everything is just fine, isn’t it? If you don’t establish a temporary governnt, then the peacekeeping forces will step in and help run this country, and by then there’s no telling of what asures they will take to make peace. You were the one who destroyed the original governnt, and yet you hide away, refusing to stand up for this territory. What do you live for?”
The pen in Kush’s hand snapped into two halves.
He gritted his teeth and looked up at Xu Cheng. “You don’t even understand what it’s like to go against the M Nation.”
“I don’t want to understand.” Xu Cheng crossed his legs and said impatiently, “All I know is that I don’t want anyone to take what belongs to ! It’s normal for people to fear death, but there are so boundaries that should be defended, even if it ans death!”
Kush: “I’m not afraid of dying, I’m just afraid that when the M Nation actually stations their troops here, it would be devastating to my n. You know that there’s a real difference between rcenaries and trained soldiers of a country, aside from the difference in strength. There’s also a gap in our equipnt and weaponry!”
Xu Cheng: “You are in charge of three-fifths of the territory but you don’t declare your position. Watch, the first thing the peacekeeping force will do is to take your n down because you’re the largest ard force here!”
Kush leaned back in his chair with a heavy expression, he thought and struggled for a very long ti.
After a while, he looked at Xu Cheng and said, “Do you know why I was against what you wanted to do before? Because I didn’t trust you enough, and I’m afraid that you’ll use as a gun. If I get destroyed, then there will be no one left who can really make decisions for this land, and by then you and the country behind you will profit! But after I saw that you exterminated the M Nation’s forces twice and even stole their fighter jets and tanks, I thought I might be able to trust you for once.”
Xu Cheng: “You’re so damn cautious. If I want to use you as a gun, why don’t I find an obedient one instead of saving your life?”

Kush: “Because if a governnt was to be established, there’s no one other than who could win over the people’s hearts!”
“You’re right, and you’ve actually seen it very thoroughly. Then if that’s the case, and with a great enemy ahead, I’ll let you choose for yourself,” Xu Cheng said.
“Not only you and I, we see it thoroughly, but the politicians also see it thoroughly. Everyone knows that if they were to get rid of , then there would be no one who could establish a temporary governnt. You think the M Nation will allow to do that?” Kush looked at Xu Cheng.
Xu Cheng felt that Kush shouldn’t be such a cautious person; he was the King of rcenaries, and he should be at least on the sa level Xu Cheng was, but it seed like Kush’s hands were tied.
Xu Cheng looked at him seriously and asked, “What exactly are you afraid of?”
Kush lowered his head as if he was thinking about sothing.
Xu Cheng said to Li Wei, “Go outside and guard the entrance.”
Li Wei nodded and went outside.
Kush saw that Xu Cheng was the only one left in the office so he took out a box of cigarettes from the drawer and handed him one.
“I have a secret that I want to share with you, but I don’t know if you have the guts to hear it.”
“If I don’t have the guts, would I still be sitting here trying to manipulate you?” Xu Cheng sneered.
“You are only manipulating , but there was a man who created , created the King of rcenaries!” Kush squinted his eyes and began to recall. “The odds of a nobody to rise and beco a hero, in reality, is literally one in a million. If I had not t soone, perhaps my life path would not have gone this way, and I would not be Kush the King of rcenaries today.”
Kush sighed. “Don’t you wonder why a man like who has never left the Land of rcenaries, would know all eighteen types of martial weapons thoroughly, including the fighting techniques from masters all over the world? in fact, after the massacre of my parents and village, I was a child blinded by hatred, and I was determined to overthrow this governnt. That was when I t a man, the man who changed , but used as well. He trained to be a killer, putting through training harder than the special forces, and made powerful. Then, with the support of his arms and capital, I quickly stood on my feet and was only thinking of overthrowing those wimps, ignoring the fact that I had beco his pawn. The so-called King of rcenaries, Kush, was only used to rally the people so that I could overthrow the governnt with a justifiable reason. Then I realized that the man was after the crude oil and the minerals in my territory! He was able to get ten billion dollars worth of crude oil in return by just investing less than a hundred million dollars in this land!”
Xu Cheng’s face looked horrified.
He had never heard of this secret before.
He looked at Kush and asked, “You’re not stupid. Why didn’t you try to refuse his ambition?”
“I’ve tried!” Kush laughed bitterly. “Every ti he cos to see , it’s just like how your attitude is right now. He looks at with disregard in his eyes because I’m no match for him!”
Xu Cheng narrowed his eyes. “Impossible! I know that there are many experts in the world, but there’s a reason why you’re called one of the five legends. Who could easily defeat you?”
“A legend?” Kush laughed out in direct mockery and sighed. “The power ranking in this dark world is truly intriguing, letting us, these so-called legends, live in our own worlds, like frogs in a well! You know what? Why do you think that none of these powerful and strong legends co out and truly make a difference in this world? I’ll tell you why, because only those who have reached our realm know that there are many more out there who are better than us! For example the man who trained to beco the King of rcenaries!”
