"A Sanctuary Mage?" Ai Lin continued in astonishnt, but this ti it was genuine, because she hadn’t expected a mage of the Sanctuary to co looking for her so soon.
"Indeed, I am Sanctuary Mage Jenna. I am here to take you away from this place," the woman said.
The na Jenna was actually quite well-known, both in the Divine Auffa Empire and the Sanctuary itself. However, the fa didn’t co from her strength, even though Jenna was a Sanctuary Mage. She hadn’t participated in many famous battles, nor did she have any impressive feats of combat to show. But Jenna had one particularly renowned achievent: she had spent twenty years finding magic for rejuvenation. With this magic, an old mage could restore their body to its youngest and strongest state.
For many powerful old mages, their greatest fear was likely the limited ti they had left. Jenna’s magic solved this problem directly, and every year she would travel around collecting huge sums of money to cast the spell for these old mages. The magic relied on the casters’ own mana to sustain and could last for a year, after which it would gradually wear off. But once these old mages experienced the strength and vigor of youth, how many of them were willing to face their old selves again? As a result, they were continuously willing to pay Jenna to cast the magic, becoming her largest source of terrifying inco.
Now, Jenna had directly revealed her true na, hoping for Ai Lin’s admiring gaze.
However, Ai Lin, although aware of Jenna, was not filled with admiration for her. Ai Lin no longer worried about her age; after rging with the Dragon Clan, she had gained a lifespan of at least two thousand years, and after using Long Yi’s blood for evolution, several zeros were added to her lifespan.
Therefore, the so-called rejuvenation magic held no allure for Ai Lin.
"Greetings, Mage Jenna!"
Ai Lin’s greeting was polite, clearly out of respect for her elders, as the young-looking woman before her was actually over a hundred years old.
Jenna was sowhat taken aback because many mages who learned she was Jenna would beco uncontrollably excited, after all, this was rejuvenation we’re talking about. Especially many female mages felt this way, thinking that even if they didn’t need it now, they might in the future, and being taught even just a little by Mage Jenna would be beneficial!
But Ai Lin was different.
Although Jenna felt so dissatisfaction, she didn’t show it, choosing to believe that Ai Lin was just a naive girl who hadn’t seen much of the world yet.
"Ai Lin, I see you have so talent. I would like to take you on as my student. Would you be willing?" Jenna maintained her superior deanor as she spoke.
"Unwilling," Ai Lin said imdiately.
"Very well, since you are willing, we can..." Jenna’s words were cut halfway when she suddenly paused. "What? Unwilling?"
"Yes, unwilling," Ai Lin confird seriously with a nod.
Jenna had never imagined that soone would refuse her! This was utterly bizarre—was this girl nad Ai Lin a fool?
No, she couldn’t be a fool; she probably just didn’t recognize Jenna, right?
"Why are you unwilling?" Jenna asked kindly.
"Because I already have a teacher," Ai Lin said earnestly.
"You have a teacher? Who is it?" Jenna inquired.
"Her na is Yavenny," Ai Lin said, which was undoubtedly the Succubus disguised as an Elf, formally known as the Dragon Language Instructor at the Dragon Rider Academy.
"Yavenny? Never heard of her... What level of mage is she?" Jenna asked.
"I don’t know, but definitely very powerful, right?" Ai Lin had not actually faced Yavenny directly but according to Long Yi, Yavenny was disproportionately strong. A testant like that from Long Yi surely ant she was powerful.
Hearing Ai Lin speak like this, Jenna felt she had a asure of her. So Ai Lin’s so-called teacher Yavenny was probably just an ordinary Magic Instructor with limited power, even if Ai Lin herself was a One-Star Mage. And Yavenny likely didn’t even have a star ranking.
"No matter, let’s do this, you lead to your teacher, and I will talk to her. She will surely agree," Jenna declared.
In this world, for a mage of Jenna’s status from the Sanctuary to seek a student, people would typically vie eagerly for the opportunity. Jenna had never imagined that this girl nad Ai Lin would be so naively dismissive. But actually, she also found it sowhat endearing.
"However, I don’t know where my teacher is," said Ai Lin.
"Then where are you from?"
"? I don’t know," Ai Lin admitted.
Jenna finally realized sothing was off because she saw the hint of a smile forming at the corners of Ai Lin’s mouth.
"What are you smiling at, girl? Are you playing with ?" Jenna asked coldly.
"No, what I said is true. I just find it a bit amusing," Ai Lin said, her face the picture of innocence.
Funny? What’s funny?" Jenna’s expression turned grim. As a Sanctuary Mage and the possessor of rejuvenation magic, she was treated with the utmost respect wherever she went, and no one ever spoke to her with such a tone. If it weren’t for her desire not to cause any alarm in taking Ai Lin away, she probably would have resorted to force already; she just feared that doing so would imdiately send the Three-tailed Red Devil Scorpion into battle mode. She herself might be fine, but a disgraceful escape was not what she wanted.
