Long Yi, who now also needed to breathe, did not need to consu much air. What would happen if he carried air with him?
"Chef! I need to borrow your Giant Swallow Dragon!" said Long Yi.
"What for?" asked the chef, who was preparing a gourt al, in confusion.
"To store so air for ," Long Yi replied.
The chef’s Giant Swallow Dragon could hold a terrifying amount of stuff in its endless stomach, whether in rest mode or combat form. Air was no exception.
Although he couldn’t specifically provide air for Xiaoyou, it was enough for Long Yi.
Next, there was the issue of transportation.
Long Yi directly chose what he was most familiar with.
An intercontinental beetle missile.
Long Yi conducted a series of experints to make the beetle missile climb as much as possible. In the end, he chose a structure of three beetle missiles tied together as a propulsion device.
Long Yi even conducted three trials. Although none of them reached the desired height, the results were still good.
Then, it was ti to find the satellite’s location.
Through the tablet, Long Yi could accurately locate each satellite. Unfortunately, he did not have adequate authority to control the satellites’ trajectories.
Finally, one morning, the satellite was scheduled to pass overhead.
"Launch!"
Long Yi, sitting in the cockpit of the Dragon Scale armor between the three beetle missiles, was imdiately carried into the sky with a trendous thrust.
Back on Earth, if everything had gone well, Long Yi had planned to beco an astronaut after the war. Now, he had finally achieved this ambition in this world.
The three beetle missiles generated an enormous thrust, pressing Long Yi firmly against his seat. The cockpit was completely transparent, made from the hardest dragon scales produced by Bajie and even reinforced with several layers. It had specially designed exhaust and waste disposal channels.
As for how to return to the ground...
Although it was hard to take off, wouldn’t it be easier to fall back down?
The sky gradually turned deep blue, then the blue got progressively darker. Eventually, it beca a profound black.
Long Yi also felt himself getting drowsy, and his heartbeat and breathing were accelerating unconsciously!
Damn it, I’m running out of oxygen!
Long Yi patted the Giant Swallow Dragon, who was sleeping beside him.
"Hey big guy! Air!"
The Giant Swallow Dragon abruptly woke from his dreams, rembering the urgency of the situation! The air was slowly released, and Long Yi’s breathing and heartbeat gradually returned to normal.
Damn, thank goodness I know a bit about science. Otherwise, after all the wind and waves I’ve been through, if I suffocated in space, that would really be a laughing stock.
Below, the three beetle missiles were flickering with runes. The air up here was very thin, making it hard for the propulsion array that used air to function properly. But it should still be able to work.
Purr!
An array popped up outside the cockpit, significantly reducing the dazzling sunlight.
Staring outwards, Long Yi searched the pitch-black backdrop of space.
"There it is!"
Long Yi finally saw a silver star twinkling against the black backdrop!
The energy of the beetle missile was nearly exhausted. With the final burst of speed, it carried Long Yi straight towards it.
The silver star was getting bigger and bigger in front of his eyes!
How huge it is!
They say it’s a satellite, but this thing in front of is clearly an asteroid!
A hemispherical structure with a diater of several kiloters, the flat side facing the ground. It seed to be made of tal, but it wasn’t fine gold.
"Warning! Automatic defense firepower detected."
A line of words suddenly appeared on Long Yi’s tablet.
Almost simultaneously, a pure golden sphere of light condensed below the asteroid!
"Please verify your identity."
Another line of words popped up on the tablet.
At the sa mont, a beam of light from the top of the tablet swept over Long Yi’s face.
"Identity confird. Pioneer Long Yi, Observation Station No. 25, disarm and prepare for docking."
The golden sphere of light disappeared, and a beam of light enveloped Long Yi’s cockpit.
Long Yi imdiately felt a gravitational force pulling him forward. He quickly unlocked the chain chanism of the three beetle missiles.
The three beetle missiles, now completely devoid of power, wandered aimlessly through space.
"Space debris detected and confird as a potential threat to humans. Comnce cleanup procedure."
A line of text flashed by, while three rays of light rushed past the edges of Long Yi’s cabin at the sa ti. The empty shells of three Beetle Missiles turned to dust in an instant, disappearing into the cosmos.
Purged clean!
Is this the defense chanisms the Giants have put in place for humans? Isn’t this a little too ticulous?
The cabin slowly entered the asteroid and ca to halt in a large open area.
"Synchronizing atmospheric pressure...successful. The current air supply would suffice for approximately 106,000 years."
Notifications kept popping up on the tablet.
Long Yi finally took the jump out of his cabin.
The tallic ground responded with loud thumps. Everything around him seed imnse. There were so wrapped supplies nearby. Judging from the size of the packages, it was clear how physically tall the individuals who used these packages once were.
Long Yi glanced at the tablet; obviously, there was no map available here.
So, where was he supposed to go?
Just as Long Yi was stumped, a small spherical object flew over.
The sphere had two small chanical hands, and a single eye in the center. It had no detectable energy fluctuations. Long Yi couldn’t ascertain what was keeping it afloat.
"Greetings, respected master. I am the resident Maintenance Golem of Observation Station number twenty-five. I’m pleased to welco you back onboard Observation Station twenty-five after 11,607 years, 132 days, 6 hours, 1 minute and 15 seconds. I have prepared a comprehensive log and summary report for you. Both reports can be viewed on your personal assistant. I have also prepared als and drinks that match your present configuration. The rest and recreation areas have been opened for your use. Additionally, I would advise against allowing the energy creature within you to exit from within your body as this area contains Void vortices that could inflict lethal damage on energy creatures. May I ask what your next command would be?"
The Maintenance Golem spoke quickly, but Long Yi understood every word. It seed as if this place was a vast living area, fully equipped with every facility needed for life.
"This is my first ti here, I don’t know what exactly I’m supposed to do." Long Yi wasn’t pretentious. Respecting and staying wary of technology was just common sense.
The Maintenance Golem imdiately responded: "Of course, I have detailed explanations about Observation Station twenty-five which you can peruse anyti. I detect fatigue in your readings, I would suggest you rest first. The specialty drink here has undergone space-ti freeze processing. Although it was prepared 11,607 years, 132 days, 6 hours, 3 minutes and 26 seconds ago, it still retains the freshness of when it was just made."
The Maintenance Golem reiterated.
"Alright, thank you."
Long Yi nodded.
"There’s no need for thanks, this is my responsibility. After all, we aren’t like those ungrateful Dragon Clan mbers."
While saying this, it seed like the Maintenance Golem shot the Giant Swallow Dragon a glance, though the latter, being slow to react, didn’t realize it.
"It’s a Giant Swallow Dragon, not the Dragon Clan of the old days. It’s a native of the Human Realm." Long Yi hurriedly clarified.
"There isn’t really much difference, the Dragon Clan is the Dragon Clan."
The Maintenance Golem shook its head as it spoke.
Directed by the Maintenance Golem, Long Yi arrived at the so-called rest area, filled with massive sofas. There were also items that seed to be entertainnt equipnt, although Long Yi had no idea what they were.
"Please wait a mont."
A beam of light shot from the Maintenance Golem’s singular eye, and the room surprisingly started shrinking, right down to a size suitable for Long Yi!
"This is amazing?" Long Yi said, eyes wide in astonishnt.
"Please do not be surprised. This is just sothing I am authorized to do within the Observation Station. It won’t work once you leave the station."
While the Maintenance Golem was speaking, a section of the wall slid open. A plate covered in runes bearing a steaming hot beverage flew out and was placed automatically on the table.
Long Yi picked up the drink and took a sip.
The skill that was put into this drink 11,607 years, 132 days, 6 hours ago, was simply marvelous! It tasted like creamy hot cocoa, with a hint of vanilla upon careful tasting. Additionally, it seed to have the aroma of lons and fruits. The taste was genuinely exquisite.
"Information about the Observation Station has been uploaded to your personal assistant. You can access it right now, or anyti at your convenience. Do you have any other orders?"
The Assistant Golem asked.
"No for now, thank you." Long Yi responded.
"I will then enter standby mode, you can call for anyti."
Saying that, the Assistant Golem’s two chanical arms contracted back and its single eye closed. It now existed rely as a floating sphere.
"Golem?" Long Yi tried calling it.
"I am here."
The chanical arms extended out, and the eye opened to look at Long Yi.
"Sorry, I was just curious, said without thinking." he apologized with an embarrassed look on his face.
"That’s okay, I understand. Many kids like to do that."
Afterwards, the Maintenance Golem reverted back to the spherical state.
Now, Long Yi finally had the ti to learn what this so-called Observation station number twenty-five was all about.
In short, it was one of the seventy-two observation stations that the Giants had established in the Human Realm.
Initially, the Giants created the Human Realm and humans themselves. In order to protect and monitor the developnt of humans, they set up seventy-two observation stations that floated above the Human Realm in a relatively static position. Due to how far they were placed, it was difficult to see them with the naked eye. The satellites that Long Yi knew of were these observation stations.
Since these observation stations were the Giants’ place of residence and research, they were equipped with all the basic anities. They had an automatic air supply system, a food processing system, and all sorts of recreational facilities loved by the Giants. Naturally, to fend off potential invaders, there were also a series of weapons and defense chanisms installed here.
When the Giants left, all these observation stations entered standby mode. They have been maintaining the sa way they were when the Giants left, without any change. Several Maintenance Golems stationed here carry out regular maintenance and repairs to ensure that the station doesn’t falter even after tens of thousands of years. (To be continued.
