"You should just call Brother Long, hearing the word ’Master’ makes my skin crawl." Long Yi felt uncomfortable whenever the term ’Master’ was used.
"Alright, Brother Long! Let’s go!" the Dark Saintess replied cheerily.
"Great!"
Long Yi and Ai Lin followed quickly behind the Dark Saintess.
The trio arrived in the Saintess’ palace. At the center of the vast and open building lay a huge sphere, its entire body in dark gold, covered by tiny and intricate patterns which were constantly rotating and joining together.
"Brother Long, you ntioned sothing before. I did so research using the knowledge of our Core Tribe, and indeed there is so information regarding the Plane of the Crazy Demons." The Dark Saintess began explaining.
"Is there any good news?"
"Yes." The Dark Saintess glanced at Ai Lin, then turned to Long Yi with an inquiring look.
"It’s okay, anything can be said in front of Ai Lin." Long Yi reassured her.
Ai Lin understood, the Dark Saintess obviously wanted to discuss sothing highly confidential. Long Yi’s words showed a great amount of trust in her, for which she was grateful.
"Well, straight to the point it is then. During the era of the Giants, they were passionate about exploring different planes and planets. The Plane of Crazy Demons was naturally one of them. The creatures in the Plane of Crazy Demons are indeed formidable, but they pale in comparison to the Giants. The real issue and hassle for the Giants was Crystal Poison. They believed that Crystal Poison was actually a type of extrely tiny micro-organism that lived in symbiosis, consuming the host’s body and energy, and forming a Crystal Core within the host. If the host was weak, it would die before the Crystal Core could form. If the host was strong enough, a new consciousness could erge from the Crystal Core after its formation. This consciousness would try to kill the host’s consciousness and take over its actions. However, if the host was exceedingly powerful, the Crystal Core would choose to live in symbiosis, enhancing the host’s body to gain its protection."
As the Dark Saintess spoke, the golden sphere started to transform, turning into the shape of a Crystal Core and then into a host, demonstrating the concepts that the Dark Saintess was explaining.
"I recall that I was also attacked by a demon and infected with Crystal Poison when I was hunting demons, but it didn’t do any significant harm." Ai Lin recalled.
That was when Ai Lin was hunting demons and got poisoned by Crystal Poison. Little Zi had provided her with a spell to detoxify herself, and she even acquired a Crystal Core gauntlet as a result.
"That’s different. The Crystal Poison that you were infected with was not Crystal Poison in the strictest sense. Only demons from the Plane of the Crazy Demons that are of equal or higher rank than the Greater Demons carry the true Crystal Poison. What you were infected with was rely a toxin with characteristics of Crystal Poison." The Dark Saintess explained. "In the Plane of Crazy Demons, Crystal Poison fills the air. These poisons disguise themselves as the host’s own cells so that there would be no symptoms after initial infection. At the sa ti, the Crystal Poison would gradually devour the living cells, replacing them with its own. There would be no pain during this stage, rather it would feel invigorating and an increase in strength. Depending on the strength of the host, this process could take a few days to a few years. Once the process finishes, the Crystal Poison will explode within a short ti. The host would fully crystallize within five seconds - and that’s when the Crystal Core starts to form internally. The Crystal Core will continually attempt to eradicate the original consciousness of the host, which is the last chance the host gets. If the host’s consciousness is strong enough, they might pull through. But by then, it’s usually too late. Their own consciousness will have shattered to pieces, in other words, they’ve gone mad."
"So, that’s why it’s called the Plane of Crazy Demons ..." Ai Lin muttered as she pondered.
"Seems like, this Crystal Poison is not native to the Plane of the Crazy Demons?" Long Yi got the feeling it was like an invasive species from another realm.
"Right, the original creatures of that plane were known as the Demon Tribe. The Crystal Poison, on the other hand, ca from a different plane." The Dark Saintess affird.
"Alright, thank you for the information. Now... the second question." Long Yi said.
The Dark Saintess nodded, and gave a pat to the golden sphere. Complicated runes and formulas started appearing in the air above the sphere.
"Even the Giants couldn’t fully resist the encroachnt of the Crystal Poison, so they invented a vaccine to fool the infection of the Crystal Poison. The success rate was 100%. The Giants also tested it on humans, and it worked on them too. However, manufacturing the vaccine is a troubleso process." The Dark Saintess revealed.
"How much trouble?" Long Yi inquired.
"First of all, you’ll need a live Greater Demon."
That will surely be trouble!
Greater Demons were already rare in this world. Following countless hunts, the few that were left had been slaughtered. Not to ntion finding a live one. According to various records, the mont Greater Demons were captured alive, they would imdiately activate their self-destructive mode, destroying everything around them within a hundred ters. Even Dragon Knights would be severely injured. Capturing them alive? It wouldn’t be easy!
"Is there any other way?" Long Yi asked, holding onto a glimr of hope.
"No." The Dark Saintess replied sternly.
"That’s tough. The self-destruction of a Greater Demon alone is already a headache. How did the Giants manage to get them to behave?"
"The Giants had countless thods to keep the Greater Demons in line, but humans cannot do it."
"How about ntal control? Little Zi should be able to help." Long Yi suggested, "The ntal attacks of a Female Demon should work on any sentient creatures."
"It would have so effect, but it’s negligible, not even as effective as freezing. Be it ntal Impact or freezing, they aren’t very useful overall. If it’s about getting the Greater Demon to obey, it’s difficult. But if it’s about preventing them from self-destructing, the City of Darkness does have a prospect, though it’s not matured yet. I believe, those intelligent human scientists should be able to use this to create a real Neutralizing Agent."
As she spoke, the Dark Saintess took out a small bottle from the dark gold sphere. Inside the bottle was a red liquid. "This is the only experintal fluid that’s been preserved."
