This is the difference between knowing the phenonon and knowing the reasons behind it.
The Emperor had created this device but he did not know what the detailed structure inside the device was used for.
The container opened, and unsurprisingly, inside lay one of The Forgotten Ones. He appeared elderly, and his skin was not like that of other Forgotten Ones, but dark gray instead.
"Does an aged Forgotten One turn dark gray?" Long Yi asked Elsa.
"No, as far as I know, these Forgotten Ones have pure white skin from birth to death," Elsa said.
"Then what is going on here?" Long Yi muttered to himself.
The person inside the container woke up, and when he saw Long Yi and Elsa, he appeared bewildered.
"Who are you, and where are my attendants? Has the agreed ti arrived?"
Strangely, there was no response from any Worms inside this container, this gray-skinned fellow was just an ordinary Forgotten One.
"You might as well tell what’s going on," Long Yi commanded, trying to control the Forgotten One using the Worm’s power. Admittedly, Long Yi had better ways to control him, but in front of the Emperor, this Worm, the act must be thoroughly played out. However, the gray-skinned being sneered and said, "Don’t waste your ti, Worm. Didn’t the Worm that prompted you to open this container tell you that all powers of your Divine Worm are ineffective against ?"
"Oh? Now, that’s interesting," Long Yi laughed.
Clearly, this gray-skinned Forgotten One’s origins were not simple. And by his tone, he seed not to be simply imprisoned here.
Turning around, Long Yi signaled for the Emperor to co over.
"Co now, you old friends catch up first, then we can discuss what exactly is going on here."
Upon seeing the Emperor appear, the gray-skinned man stood up, grinning, "Oh, it’s you. I knew it. Back when fighting over my mories, more than a dozen Worms battled to the death, but only you were the cunning one who hid from the start, ultimately reaping the benefits. But have you finally found the way to unlock the secrets in my mind?"
"Regrettably, although decades have passed, and I research it constantly, I still can’t unlock the secrets in your mind. If possible, I wouldn’t have wanted to appear here at this ti," the Emperor said helplessly.
Gray Skin glanced at the collar atop the Emperor’s head, thought for a mont, then shook his head and said, "I have told you, only I am the chosen one, not you. You stole my throne, but that doesn’t an you can beco the true emperor. Our race of The Forgotten Ones, only soone with royal gray skin like mine can grasp the secrets of the mind. Such secrets are beyond what your re Worms can fathom..."
Gray Skin was actually the true Emperor? Now that was a revelation.
But why, when the Emperor had taken off his armor several tis, did his guards not recognize him?
Right! Perhaps so people knew, but those people were already controlled.
And as for others, how many could see the true face of the Emperor in their lifeti?
This matter, indeed, was intriguing. (To be continued. If you enjoyed this work, welco to qidian to vote for it or donate monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian to read.)
