Wait!
What’s wrong with that?
The Divine Worms are extrely powerful, and it might take centuries to match them in strength on my own. But what if I enlist Long Yi’s help? Long Yi is incredibly strong, and no Divine Worm could stand against him alone. With Long Yi’s assistance, I could eliminate my competitors one by one.
"If I were to agree, what would you do?" the Divine Worm asked cautiously.
"Then, I’ll need you to cooperate with a little, for a test," Long Yi said with a smile.
The test Long Yi spoke of was actually to see if the Divine Laws could be applied to the Divine Worm. Ever since Long Yi obtained the mask of the Divine Laws, he had been studying it. Except for the coded commands within that he could not understand, it was almost indistinguishable from the artificial intelligence that the Giants excelled at. Long Yi always suspected that it should work on the Divine Worm, and now that he had caught one, how could he not try it?
When Long Yi took out the mask from his private space, the Divine Worm looked on, clueless; it obviously had never seen the mask before. But when Long Yi activated the Divine Laws, the Divine Worm imdiately collapsed.
In the presence of the Divine Laws, even the Divine Worm had no room to struggle.
"Target acquired, target is not complete," the Divine Laws stated.
"Write new directives for the target," Long Yi said.
Hum!
The eyes of the Divine Laws glowed, and at the sa ti, a ball of light erged from the octopus-like creature’s eyes. This ball of light was the Divine Worm’s true form.
"Writing mode initiated," said the Divine Laws.
Long Yi manipulated the Divine Power and wrote the consciousness of obedience and loyalty to Long Yi into the Divine Worm. Then, Long Yi stowed the mask away.
"Lord Long Yi? I, I am ashad!" the Divine Worm, now back in the consciousness of the octopus-like creature, wailed.
"Why is that?" Long Yi asked.
"Because such an insignificant being as myself dared to use soone as great as you! How could I have conceived such an outrageous notion! Even though I am but a worm, my loyalty as your servant will never change!" the Divine Worm declared loudly.
"It seems this experint was a failure," Long Yi said as the worm-shaped creature coiled around him again.
"My lord! My lord! What are you doing? I am your most loyal servant!" the Divine Worm cried out.
"Although I did write in a directive for loyalty to just now, I didn’t activate it. I was planning to activate it later, so your reaction was a bit premature," Long Yi said with a smile.
"You tricked ," the Divine Worm said, sounding displeased.
"Eh? You really weren’t controlled? I had indeed activated that directive. I just wanted to test you, and I didn’t expect you to admit it yourself..." Long Yi laughed.
The Divine Worm simply chose not to speak further, for it knew that speaking carelessly could only bring misfortune.
"Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Clearly, I haven’t fully grasped how to use this thing. After all, it’s not like the Giant’s items that even children can use with ease..." Halfway through, Long Yi suddenly rembered he possessed two other treasures.
Long Yi pulled out both the Giant’s Scepter and the Giant’s Tablet and used the Scepter to analyze the mask of the Divine Laws. Quickly, the Tablet responded: "Heavenly Kingdom technology detected."
Can you believe it!
Heavenly Kingdom technology detected! True to the treasure of our Giant race, it can even detect Heavenly technology!
The Giants, a race created by a god, only beca powerful after receiving the descent of the Heavenly Kingdom. That ans the Giants should have so knowledge of the technology of the Heavenly Kingdom.
"Analysis underway, please wait."
These words appeared on the Tablet—an almost inconceivable occurrence for the Giant’s Tablet, as it usually provided instant answers to Long Yi’s queries, never having a "please wait" mont before.
And Long Yi waited a full half hour during this "please wait." During this ti, the Divine Worm had also commanded its subordinates to stand down from high alert and await orders. Finally, after half an hour, the Giant’s Tablet provided an answer.
"Identified as Heavenly Kingdom artificial intelligence regulations; internal Giant code na Divine Laws, classified as a level one dangerous item, recomnded imdiate destruction by the God Eater program."
Without a mont’s hesitation, Long Yi chose no. This item was a treasure, perhaps key to his eventual entry into the Divine Realm, even the Heavenly Kingdom; destruction was out of the question.
"Analyze the rules and magic codes," Long Yi commanded.
The light from the gem atop the Giant’s scepter imdiately focused on the mask, which at the sa ti emitted a voice.
"External analysis rules detected. Do you wish to counteranalyze?" Long Yi promptly stopped the mask from countering.
But after a while, the mask spoke again, "External analysis rules have invaded the core codes. Do you wish to counteract?"
The answer was still negative.
So ti passed, and the mask spoke once more, "Core codes have been analyzed. Recomnd imdiate self-destruction."
"No, no, no!"
Long Yi felt that the person who had created these divine decrees must have been a very verbose individual. Otherwise, why would there be so many warnings set? However, the presence of warnings ant that the creator of the divine decrees had considered the possibility of them being analyzed. What did this an?
Clearly, the divine decrees could not clarify his doubts, and of course, Long Yi did not expect them to. His only desire at the mont was to unravel the rule compositions contained within.
Finally, after several hours, there was feedback on the Giant tablet.
"Heavenly kingdom command rules have been decompiled."
What followed were the rule commands translated into Giant script.
The command structures were extrely simple, but the rules and magic forming the commands were incredibly complex. If the commands themselves were as simple as one plus one equals two, the single ’one’ was the result of countless elents compounded and calculated.
Fortunately, it wasn’t beyond comprehension. After all, the Giant’s later technology was built on the basis of Heavenly Kingdom’s technology. Apart from the language difference, there was a great deal of overlap between the technology of the Heavenly Kingdom and that of the Giants. Starting with what he could understand, Long Yi gradually extended to the surrounding content. Based on the activation of the Giant ring, it took him a whole day to go through the extrely simplistic rule command set.
"To sum it up in a very simple way—that is, it’s simpler than I thought," Long Yi expressed his feelings using the word ’simple’ twice.
Apart from the abstruse language, there was nothing difficult about the overall structure. However, so of the detailed rules had granted the divine decrees an unparalleled authority. Long Yi separated out those particular rules. With his current abilities, he couldn’t change the rules, but he could use them.
While Long Yi was busy with the divine decrees, the Divine Worm was also trying everything to escape. Fundantally, it didn’t understand what Long Yi was doing, but the mask instilled it with boundless fear. This fear even surpassed that of the God Eater, making it instinctively want to flee at all costs.
Unfortunately for it, the God Eater was always lurking nearby, leaving it with no opportunity to escape.
And now, Long Yi finally had ti to confront it.
"Ahem, so let’s all get a bit serious," Long Yi said with a smile that totally did not resemble soone about to be serious. The Divine Worm did not know what to say and could only silently watch as Long Yi held the mask in his hand, murmuring words that were incomprehensible when suddenly, the God Eater opened a gap!
Run!
At this mont, there was only one thought in the Divine Worm’s mind, and it imdiately burst out of the cephalopod’s head. Although as the Divine Worm, it would not live long once removed from a living mind, it preferred to take its chances in the vast, nebulous universe over being toyed to death by Long Yi. It didn’t care what lower life form it might beco; all that mattered was survival.
But the mont it made its break, the mask’s eyes suddenly shot out two beams of light, firmly holding the Divine Worm in midair, which imdiately lost consciousness.
"Rule-based life form detected. Match found for divine species template," the divine decrees announced.
So this is how it’s played.
The divine decrees controlled the Divine Worm, while Long Yi controlled the divine decrees through the Giant’s scepter and tablet.
As far as the divine decrees were concerned, the Divine Worm was a rule-based life form with a divine species template—its structure more akin to an incomplete god. Unlike other gods, it only had Divine Consciousness, lacking both Divine Soul and Divine Status. This was exactly why it could parasitize other gods’ consciousness—because as a Divine Consciousness, it was no less than any god.
Yet, it still fell short in the face of the divine decrees. The divine decrees quickly laid bare the entire structure of the Divine Worm in front of Long Yi, including its rule composition, the seat of its consciousness, and where its mories lay. Long Yi saw that the mories of the Divine Worm were divided into two parts: the external mories that would be touched by anyone attempting to control the Divine Worm forcefully, and at the core, there was a set of internal mories, which were completely intertwined with its rules.
This part of the internal mory was exceedingly brief: Devour kin; beco a true god; return to the Divine Realm.
No one knew who had instilled these mories, but Long Yi could be very certain about one thing: the entity that had input these mories definitely had malevolent intentions in mind. He recalled the Divine Envoy girl’s initial reaction upon seeing the Divine Worm; her first thought was that so god had violated the divine decrees. Now that Long Yi had the divine decrees in hand, he was quite curious to see which decrees that god had broken.
The mask of the divine decrees radiated light, forcibly reading the mory of the Divine Worm. Then, a series of warnings appeared.
"Warning! Actions in violation of the divine decrees detected. Strongly recomnded to intervene imdiately." (To be continued.
