The staff mber took a glance and a flicker of disdain flashed through his eyes. To this day, it is rare for soone to bet such a low stake, as it’s hardly attractive to other contestants. Such small bets also lack spectacle, because from the outside, it seems almost a waste of passion to fight a life-and-death battle only to win a re twofold of Divine Status in the end.
However, as long as it wasn’t forbidden, one naturally had the freedom to register at will. As soon as Long Yi left, so people’s eyes brightened, and they walked over. After all, Long Yi appeared to be a rookie, and rookies inevitably lacked rich combat experience, plus so rookies are always overconfident, placing heavy bets. Teaching a rookie a lesson was sothing everyone enjoyed doing.
But when they saw that Long Yi’s final choice was just a re twofold of Divine Status, so people walked away disappointed, because it seed like a waste of ti. Still, there were also so who showed interest, including so contestants who had lost a lot of Divine Status. Having no extra Divine Status to challenge those with high Divine Status, they could only wait for opportunities like this.
And now, the opportunity had co.
Several people showed interest in Long Yi simultaneously, but one person pushed away the others around him.
"Fuck off! This idiot is my prey!"
"He’s mine!"
"Mine!"
A few people began to fight over it, cursing and swearing, but ultimately the person who was first managed to register his na beneath Long Yi’s match.
Of course, Long Yi saw the fight over him. At that mont, he was pretending to watch the match attentively, and seeing himself rather in demand, he couldn’t help but sneer coldly. They were all racing to bully a newcor, were they?
In fact, the battles here were not much different from those in the Stellar Realm Arena. Most people were Mages, with a small portion being warriors. Their way of fighting was to enhance their magic or weapons with Divine Power to further increase the damage of each attack, breaking through the opponent’s defense.
Of course, there was nothing wrong with this approach; it should be considered standard. However, because everyone knew Divine Power grew slowly, everyone’s Divine Power was limited. Often, after a few rounds of bombardnt, Divine Power would be completely exhausted, and then regular combat would ensue. At that point, people would tend to wait patiently for the Divine Power to recover, then seize the critical mont to deal a fatal blow with an attack augnted by Divine Power. Once Divine Power was added, even the most basic missile spell could blast a deadly effect. Thus, in such battles, whether or not one is suppressed, it’s difficult to say who would win or lose until the very last mont.
That’s why the external betting was also very thrilling, and unsurprisingly, the betting was also controlled by the association.
What a perfectly shrewd business mind.
Long Yi just quietly watched the match, occasionally taking sothing out of his personal space to fill his stomach. His opponent was a person from Hand of God, who kept watching Long Yi with a cold stare, scoffing disdainfully at any movent Long Yi made. Long Yi felt that this person probably had a low threshold for laughter; were his actions really so funny?
Match after match ended, winners beaming as they received their total Divine Status from the tetrahedron sphere above them, while losers, losing their Divine Status, walked away dejected and gloomy, so even roaring in fury.
However, Long Yi noticed that in these few battles, not a single person had died. Both parties seed to always abide by a rule, that was not to kill the opponent. So far, almost none of the losers even suffered serious injuries, and once they lost their combat ability, the opponent would imdiately stop the attack.
Long Yi silently took note, reminding himself not to get excited and accidentally kill soone.
Finally, it was Long Yi’s turn to enter the ring. He leaped into the arena first, while the opponent walked over unhurriedly, eyes seeming to carry spikes.
Just then, a warning sounded around the arena, "Warning: please do not cast any magic before the match begins."
Upon hearing the warning, the opponent just sneered, and the prickly feeling in his eyes disappeared.
My God, so cunning; fortunately, Long Yi had undergone special ntal resistance training from Little Zi, and he was no longer sensitive to such tricks. If it had been an ordinary person, they would certainly have fallen for it.
The opponent also secretly raised Long Yi’s power level a bit in his mind. His psychic spike was a move that rarely failed. The whole arena ran automatically, and his ntal spike precisely skirted the edge between a warning and an outright loss. rely receiving a warning wouldn’t cost him anything, but once hit by the spike, it could greatly impact the opponent in the upcoming battle!
But his psychic spike had no effect!
Had Long Yi been prepared from the start, or was it because he himself was too nervous and didn’t execute it perfectly?
Seeing Long Yi still looking clueless, he laughed mockingly at himself; maybe it was just because the guy was too dumb, leading to his slow reaction.
Both stood in their corners, a beam of light emitted from the tetrahedron above them, drawing a twofold Divine Status from Long Yi. Another beam of light shone on the opponent but didn’t extract any Divine Status. This ant the opponent only had one Divine Status left, and if he lost, he would beco a re mortal!
No wonder he was so desperate to challenge this newbie.
Too bad, your luck is poor, and you chose the wrong person.
Then, a bell rang around them.
"Begin!"
Boom!
A magic missile, wrapped in divine power and flying at an extre speed, shot forth just as the starting bell chid. If hit, the outco of the duel could be instantly decided. The opponent was clearly taking advantage of the rhythm at the start of the match to attack! Expecting the other mage to be a treacherous bastard, Long Yi had been extrely cautious from the beginning. After all, currently he was not in his true identity and couldn’t afford overly aggressive combat tactics.
Boom!
The magic missile, blessed with divine power, was stopped by a shield, while Long Yi’s face showed feigned shock and panic.
The surrounding audience exclaid in amazent. For a newcor to block such a surprise attack at the critical mont—was it sheer luck?
The opponent was clearly surprised that Long Yi had blocked the initial assault, as they had not prepared a follow-up attack. In fact, if they had cast two more of the sa magic missiles in succession, victory would have been certain! One magic missile would penetrate the shield, and the next would hit Long Yi directly. A magic missile imbued with divine power could incapacitate a person.
Unable to believe Long Yi had blocked their surprise attack, the opponent reacted swiftly, launching another magic missile. At the sa ti, Long Yi also fired his own, and the two projectiles, both enveloped in divine power, collided in mid-air. Divine powers canceled each other out, and the magic missiles exploded upon impact.
Such speed!
Everyone marveled at Long Yi’s casting velocity, as it was evident he had been slightly slower to react, needing to drop his shield before attacking. Yet the respective magic missiles virtually ford simultaneously!
"Hmph..." the opponent sneered and suddenly unleashed a sky-full of magic missiles, all aid at Long Yi, so even laced with divine power!
This tactic was incredibly deceitful and one misstep would surely lead to imdiate defeat.
Long Yi quickly discerned the opponent’s intent. He waved his hands rapidly, launching several divine power-infused magic missiles before imdiately erecting a mana shield for protection.
The sky thundered as all the divine power-charged magic missiles were shattered by Long Yi! The remaining missiles were stoutly withstood by his shield!
This ti, the watching crowd let out a collective gasp of admiration. In just a brief mont, Long Yi’s judgnt and responses were nothing short of perfect. He first destroyed all the divine power-infused magic missiles, then used his shield to absorb the rest. The strategy was simple, but few could actually execute it. The window given to Long Yi was very narrow—he had to discern which missiles were imbued with divine power and respond precisely. Even a half-second delay could have ended the duel!
"This magic, not bad," Long Yi finally smiled.
Seeing Long Yi’s smile, the opponent was filled with rage. Just as they prepared to cast again, they saw that Long Yi had already completed his own spell! Long Yi hadn’t stopped at all; the mont the opponent’s barrage ended, he was readying his next attack, which happened to be the sa spell the opponent had just used.
A sky-full of magic missiles, interspersed with several carrying divine power!
"Damn it!"
The opponent hastily aborted the spell they were preparing to cast, looking to counter with the sa tactic as Long Yi, but it wasn’t so easy. A quick glance left them dazzled. After desperately firing off several divine power-infused magic missiles, there was still one more bearing down on them!
Mana shield!
With no other options, they cast a divine power-charged mana shield. Almost instantly, the shield was broken by divine power, and of course, the magic missile disappeared as well.
However, the sky was still riddled with magic missiles!
Booms and explosions were relentless. When the noise ceased, the opponent lay tattered on the ground, with an Array clearly etched on it.
That was Long Yi’s next spell.
Blazing Impact!
Boom!
A pillar of fire surged, but in an instant, the opponent turned golden, and the pillar passed through without causing any harm.
"The duel is over, please cease your attacks," the voice announced. The tetrahedral sphere above extracted the Divine Status from the opponent and, along with Long Yi’s own Divine Status, brought it all before Long Yi. He absorbed both Divine Statuses, chuckled, and turned to leave. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, welco to Qidian (qidian) to cast your recomndation votes and monthly tickets.
